My question is related to the fact that people beleive (as a kid i did) that if an "ark" is found let's say on top of the mountain Ararat, THAT would be evidence of a GLOBAL flood.

As far as I remember WT claimed that Sea vegetation, sea animal or "fish" have been found frozen in high mountains.

So what?l

The evidence and potential evidence mentioned above is placed next to the notion (unfounded?)

that for the Ararat, as tall as it is, to be covered by water it has to be cuased by GLOBAL flood.

Does such a notion make sense?

ok, probably i was thinking 40000 kilometers, anyway the "grain of salt" used in the compartive example stil is no more than 200 micrometer.

well i should say smooth... there are no such a thing as "high" mountains or peaks,

no matter how high you climb, (less than 10000 meters or about less than 6 miles) , you wont see anything 200 miles away,... horizon..

so the everest "peak", less than 6 miles tall, on "top" of the earth (40000 miles circumference) should look similar to a

yes, again... after reading numerous posts on this site and doing some research on my own, i have a strong feeling that my whole belief will soon stand or fall with the understanding of 'this generation'.. matthew 24:3 .."tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?".

matthew 24:7 for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.. matthew 24:34 truly i say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.. .

generation:noun: group of genetically related organisms constituting a single step in the line of descent noun: the normal time between successive generations example: "they had to wait a generation for that prejudice to fade".

Ararat is not as 'tall" as Everest.

In the previous topic i mentioned that, the Everest "peak", less than 6 miles tall, on "top" of the Earth (40000 miles circumference) should look similar to a

grain of salt less than 200 micrometers tall (if you can SEE it) on "top" of a basketball. (30 inch circumference)

I did not reviewed the math but i think it should be 100 micrometers instead of 200, round numbers.

Does a "global" flood can be "proved" by finding the "ark" or some frozen fisth on top of the Ararat?

or by the "fact" that people all around the "globe" have an interesting story about a flood?

It seems like both question can be answered and explained without affirming a "global" flood.

What do you say?

If that is true, then we have to throw the idea out the door that the bible is inspired by God, which I would truly hate to do.

Bottom line, at this point I feel as if I don't have enough knowledge of what's out there. In order to make a decision such as being baptized a JW, or walk away from them altogether, I need to educate myself a lot better than I have so far.

"Educate myself". You are "luky", praise the internet revolution, you are going to do what most of us, for one reason or another, did not do before getting in or out of the jw religion..

you can barely breath on Everest

It is getting better at sea level after they implemented a few environmental laws, but i will probably start another topic once i get validated on the numbers i just presented,

it may be 100 micrometers instead of 200, even 200 is good eunogh for the next question, probably in another topic..

How long before wireless internet is everywhere?

for you people interested in the internet and technology, how long do you think it will be before we have wireless internet everywhere?

when the net is as freely & readily available as air, all you need do is log on, from anywhere... how long do you think... five years?

there are "hot-spots" but

there is no market for service. "everywhere" like for cel phones. Investment required by service providers is too high..

cel phone will have to be wi-fi capable or eventually 3g capable, it does not make sense having a cel phone AND a palm pilot or similar device. Not too many people walk around carrying a laptop with wireless capability.

at present cel phones can provide the basic email service etc, but people can wait till get home for broadband service
