Psalm 119:165 Abundant peace belongs to those who love your law; Nothing can make them stumble.
If someone "stumbles" because of a beard, they need to get their head out of their @ss
one argument against beards i've heard multiple times, both from individual jws and from the platform is roughly:.
'timothy got circumcised so as not to stumble others!
shouldn't you be thankful you don't have to do that?

the whole idea of a great apostasy means that jesus was lying [or he was a crazy fool] when he said that he would be with his church until the end of the age.
matt 28- 18then jesus came to them and said, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19therefore go and make disciples of allnations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that i have commanded you.
If Jesus was truly concerned with spreading his teachings he would have written a book himself. The gospels were written decades after he died and they weren't even written by his disciples. So we don't truly know what he said.
So many contradictions and made up ideas. Whose to say what his true intention was.
I think that the NT writers would have done a better job if they knew that in the future most of the world was going to rely on their works to learn about Jesus.
They're probably in heaven saying "We really fu**ed up."
i was watching lloyd evans rebuttal to the saturday program of the be courageous convention.
lloyd pointed out something that had occurred to me as well:.
all this talk and examples of courage, whether it be standing up in class defending intelligent design, putting up with being imprisoned, not running away from bullies, always having a reply to someone who tries to ridicule your faith... the young ones are encourages - nay, commanded - to stand their ground and be courageous.
They expect the sheeple to be couragous and not run away but none of this applies to them.
tonight on the evening of april 18, 2011, observant jews worldwide will celebrate passover seder, a night "different from all other nights".
the watchtower society annually schedules the memorial for jehovah's witnesses on a date that is supposed to coincide with the jewish observance of passover, as it would have been reckoned during second temple times (in particular, in the first century ad during the life of jesus).
this year the memorial was observed last night, the evening of april 17. the two religious observances are thus a day out of synth, at least this year.
Some suggest that Jesus celebrated the seder meal according to the solar Essene calendar. But i have yet to do the research.
shalom,.
my mom's family is mostly jws.
during her second marriage, i attended the weekly meeting and sunday meetings (by my own choice) with a family in the very small town we lived, since my mom didn’t attend.
I do want to encourage you to continue doing research with an open mind.
Personally, my spiritual journey and research has led me to believe that there is no such thing as a true religion.
It seems like you have a strong desire to belong to a religion. Ask yourself, why? Why do you feel the need to belong when all you need is Jesus in your life?
I know you may feel like you need to make a choice now but it's best to take it slow. Sometimes we cling to religion because of a sense of codependency. Analyze yourself and see why.
I suggest you read The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse and Combating Cult Mind Control. You seem like the perfect target for an abuser.
You do have a lot of insight and I think it's great you're thinking about your beliefs.
jeremiah 7:31 says, "they have built the high places of toʹpheth, which is in the valley of the son of hinʹnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, something that i had not commanded and that had never even come into my heart.’".
according to this scripture it's unthinkable for jehovah to be pleased with child sacrifices.
but yet he sent his son to be killed as a sacrifice for all?.
Someone brought to my attention that sacrifices were man's idea not God's. Also that Jesus' ransom sacrifice was the invention of 2nd or 3rd century Christians.
I haven't done the research yet.

How is this not a contradiction?

ok. many people deny ct russell was a freemason.
i have read articles whereby some have found no evidence to prove he was one at any point in his life.. however, given all the masonic symbols in the early publications including the use of the name jehovah ( the name the freemason's use to identify god), as well as the expressions used such as 'new world, new order' etc certainly raises suspicions.. then there is the article he wrote in the herald magazine outlining that he was a freemason (see the following video 40 seconds in).
it really does make you think!.

It's known that Russell spoke against the masons but he stopped towards the end of he career.
The only reason I say that he supported them is by my own conversations with Freemasons. They won't let you use their lodge unless you show some kind of support or know someone who can help you get approval to use the lodge. But again, like I said, that's how it is where I am from. The Freemasons I know won't give you the time of day unless you show interest and positive support towards them in general.
Anyway, why is it a bad thing if he was a Freemason? They help the less fortunate in their communities and are 100% loyal to their members. The only bad thing I can think of is that it's hard to get out. But they make sure you understand that before you join and it's hard to become a member.
some who are not disfellowshipped are still shunned i also know there’ are disfellowshipped ones that family still associate with..
Yes. When my husband got disfellowshipped most in the congregation started shunning me. My BFF and I would still hang out but now that I stopped going to meetings she completely avoids me.
I'm not disfellowshipped though. I havent been to a meeting in about a year.
My parents did tell me that they wanted to limit contact with me after I got together with my husband. We were separated for almost a year.
It's very strange how this all works.
