That movie is awesome! I was thinking the same thing with the shunning. My husband and I laughed at those scenes but we also kind of looked at each other. I'm not DF but he is. Thankfully, his family doesn't shun him. My family partly shuns him.

The Big Sick movie. Interesting clips about family rejection based on religious and cultural differences!
by stuckinarut2 inif anyone has not yet watched the fantastic 2017 movie "the big sick", i would highly recommend it!.
without giving too much away, there are two scenes in it that we as ex jws will relate to.. the first scene shows the main character being chastised and rejected by his parents for not following their religious and cultural expectations and marrying a muslim girl.
the parents effectively "disfellowship" him from their family!

ajwrb.org has been absolutely helpful. It is definitely written well especially for people like me who have no medical background. Now, is there a book written by an ex-jw which can explain more about the physiology of blood? I have soooo many silly questions that I find extremely hard to get an answer to.
For example, and please don't laugh I'm super ignorant lol, white blood cells are found in breastmilk but they're banned by JWs, why? How are antibodies and antigens removed from blood and its fractions? Most anti-blood articles speak of the possible death or side-effects of a mismatch of transfused blood. To be honest, this terrifies me. Cell salvage systems are listed as a possible procedure for Cesereans but OBGYNs don't recommend it as it can cause shock or death if it just so happens to introduce amniotic fluid back into mother's system.
These are just the ones that come to mind at the moment.

I remember a recorded talk circulating in the Spanish congregations of a Circuit Overseer back in the 80s. I heard it several times throughout years. He mentioned the Smurfs, in Spanish Petufos, and he said that they're demonic and children have seen them talking, walking and dancing . I was extremely upset about it because I was a HUGE Smurfs fan omg! Anyway, the circuit overseer became an apostate and JWs started claiming that the recorded tapes were possesed by demons and we should throw it away. So yeah, that was interesting.

BlackSpirit please do us a favor and do some research. Real research not Watchtower bogus material. You're really embarrassing yourself.
Most of us here have read the bible many, many times. Some are atheists, most used to be JWs turned atheist or agnostic. But we all are here because we realized that Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT the true religion. A lot of us went through a period of mourning, we suffered in silence. I know I must have prayed about it thousands of times. It took me many years of fighting with the facts and my own conscience to finally understand and accept the truth about this religion. It was very painful and it is for most of us here.
We all have a story to tell. It's not easy to let go of something that you believed in deeply.
That's why everyone here is attacking you. You are saying things that a lot of us USED TO BELIEVE but after careful research have found it to be opposite from truth.

The Apostle Paul was not part of the so called Governing Body. Actually there was no Governing Body in the 1st century. Paul did not report nor respond to the disciples. He did his own thing.
1st century Christians didn't have Kingdom Halls, they didn't have a quota for preaching, they didn't have assigned territories, no one had to answer baptism questions or be a publisher, the meetings were conducted very differently.
The lack of unity you mention is very different. Please do some research. You're embarrassing yourself
Do some real research on 1st century Christians please. Look up Polycarp and other influential Christians that actually lived around that time. You will see a huge difference between them and Jehovah's Witnesses.

* The Jehovah's Witness Governing Body want to control every aspect of their members life including the marital bedroom. This is NOT how 1st century Christian leaders behaved towards their fellow brothers in the faith.
Matthew 23:4 - They bind up heavy loads and put them on the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.

Jesus NEVER said there was an organization that we needed to follow. He said "I am the way". The organization has taken away Jesus' authority and placed it on their governing body. They think they are Jesus. Jesus said we only need him, that's it! No organization. The Jehovah's Witness religion is a business and it is run/managed like one.The JWs also use MIND CONDITIONING which is a powerful tool to get certain behaviors out of their members. Their tactics are real and they know exactly what they are doing.
I highly recommend The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse and Combating Cult Mind Control to see the tactics and manipulation they use. It's extremely similar to the tricks an abuser uses to keep their victim (usually a girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband) from leaving and continue to control them.

This scripture applies to humans who follow Christ NOT a religious institution or organization. Jehovah's Witnesses follow the Organization lead by their governing body. JWs are faithful to the organization and leaders NOT Jesus Christ. And Jesus, nor Jehovah direct the Jehovah's Witness organization or their governing body.
This scripture you mention applies to the 1st century Christians who were hated for saying that Jesus was the Messiah. This was considered deeply blasphamous to the Jews.
Being hated does not equal approval from Jehovah. Jehovah's Witnesses have a terrible track record for being wrong many, many times. They're not humble enough to admit their mistakes.
