I bought him a book called The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse a few weeks ago. He hasn't read it yet. I'm wondering if this book will help. I'm even thinking of having family study with it just so he can absorb the info lol

My husband is DFed but he is a prime example of someone who was a puppet for the watchtower. I was able to wake him a little with the sex abuse scandal. He was an elder and is very familiar with those rules. Recently, I mentioned to him how Jehivah was offended when the Israelites wanted a king, a human rep on earth for his people. So this made him realize that Jehovah doesn't want anyone representing him on earth. But after a while he asks me, what about Moses?
Now, my husband still believes the Bible is infallible. He has never done Biblical research without the watchtower library which is total BS. So I want to use the Bible to help him realize that there's no such thing as a "representative of Jehovah" here on earth. I don't know how to answer about the Moses thing. I did mention that Jesus is who we need to follow and that there was no governing body in the 1st century but he still feels there should be someone setting rules. Help! What do I say? He doesn't feel comfortable watching or reading "apostate" material.
Keep in mind he is barely starting to wake up and I don't want to bombard him. He gets very emotional since he still wants to believe that there is a religion out there who is the one true religion

Jehovah is not the God of Jehovah’s Witnesses
by Ireneus inin exodus 23:4 jehovah established this law: “if you come across your enemy's ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to take it back to him.”.
if jws were really his people, jehovah would have ensured they never go wrong in their teaching which is in effect much more than mere “wandering.” if jehovah is concerned about wandering animals of enemies of his chosen people, much more concern should have been shown by him towards his modern-day chosen people.. yet the changes they have made are too many.

I would say that they worship the organization and its governing body.

Serpent in the Garden of Eden is not Satan
by anointed1 inmany interpret serpent in the garden of eden as the satan hence miss the whole point because satan himself does not exist.
he is a fictional character [for example, in the temptation account, satan is shown as reflecting the erroneous belief of ancient time that shape of earth is flat, thus taking jesus to the top of “a very high mountain” and showed him “all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.” (mathew 4:8, 9) the fact that jesus did not correct the mistaken view of satan shows the account of temptation is allegorical.
further, jesus knew that satan was only a personification of evil (mathew 16:23; john 6:70) and categorically declared that “all evil thoughts proceed from one’s heart,” not from satan.

Things just make more sense when we look at the stories in a symbolic or poetic way. It also seems like sin had a different meaning for Judaism in ancient times. At least that's what I have read so far.

Only Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vanderhoven7 inwhat do you think of this rant?.
“jehovah's witnesses are the only true religion.
this is demonstrated by a slew of true teachings that only jehovah could have revealed to his servants on earth.

1935 is a made up date. No where in the Bible does it even hint at this date even if you try to manipulate it. The "other sheep" Jesus was reffering to are gentiles. The context speaks for itself.

If Jesus did inspect Watchtower in 1919, what he found was not a cleansed organisation teaching truth, rather his inspection would have revealed a group promoting that:
- The "Last Days" started in 1799 and the 1800s were the worst time period of all history
- Jesus presence commenced in 1874
- Jesus had begun ruling in 1878
- Armageddon had occurred in 1914
- Blood was acceptable as food for Christians
- Jesus should be prayed to and worshipped, as well as Jehovah
- The Great Crowd were a heavenly class
- Birthdays and Christmas were acceptable celebrations
- The cross was on the cover of the Watchtower
- Teachings adapted from 1800's religious preachers and the Adventist movement, such as that pyramids and astrology supported 1914
- Strong Zionist support for a new nation of Israel in fulfilment of Bible prophecy
- The Faithful and Discreet Slave was not the anointed, but rather Pastor Russell
By current standards, in 1919 Watchtower was very much an apostate organization

How can you tell someone they have bad breath without offending?
by James Mixon ini told someone and they became very angry with me.

Some native Americans chewed on minty bark. Egyptians had toothbrushes made from twigs I think.
As far as your friend goes, maybe suggest a probiotic or that he see a dentist. He may have a certain dental condition like a cavity or a rotting tooth. He also may have digestive issues. You can say "hey I love hanging out with you but are you ok? When was the last time you went to the dentist? This probiotic may help with any heartburn or digestive issues you may have. Bad breath is usually a sign of bad health and I want to make sure you're ok"

Bill definitely could have done better. I'm not a fan of everything he does. I don't understand why he doesn't go ahead and get his degree and become an actual scientist.
