My brother gets to sit there. He's an elder and takes care of the donations and some other stuff I can't remember.

Krismalone you are wrong on so many levels. Please do some research. Personally, I filled out hundreds of DACA applications and you are spreading false information.
Everyone else who agrees with him, please don't say anything unless you kniw the facts. Do some research. You guys are giving me a headache

I have seen cultish behaviors on both sides. But since I live in Trump country here down south, wow! These people really worship him. They defend him even when he does crazy stuff. They are not open minded at all. 90% support Trump even after you explain the laws to them and how the system works (I do work for an immigration office).
As far as JWs go, it IS common for them to fall into a cultish substitute. It's explained well in The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse and Combating Cult Mind Control. It's the same reason people leave abusive relationships and go into another abusive relationship but yet in their head it's not the same. They convince themseves it's not the same but the abuse is there.
Personally, I have cut off people for decades if they say anything racist or steriotypical. At first I do my best to educate them since I have mixed cultural backround, mostly Native American, if they still have racists views then I avoid them completely. I can put up with anything but if someone believes people from other countries are lesser human beings or have less rights, NO. I can't be around these kind of people. It goes against everything I believe and everything I value. I myself have been mistreated on various occasions for the way I look even though I'm very American.
The sad thing is that people have been more open about their racism since Trump got elected so I get more stares and comments. It's NOT political anymore, it's a moral issue. They don't think they're racist either!

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Kicked Out Of Restaurant For Supporting Trump
by minimus ini think it’s ridiculous to kick people and families out of a restaurant because of politics.

I wouldn't kick her out of my business.
I say we ship out ALL people in the USA who leech off the system whether they're citizens or not. I can't tell you how many US citizens encouraged me to lie on my food stamp application and other stuff. Most time it's the office workers themselves that tell me "don't put that as income you will get denied".

Has Your JW Background Benefited You In Any Way?

The morals I was raised with are also cultural. My non-JW family were also raised to avoid alcoholism, gambling, theft etc. I actually have pretty awesome cousins, uncles and aunts and they are not in the cult. I'm actually very jealous of them because they went to college and have a good balance of family and career. So I can't say it made me personally a better person.
Now, maybe it helped me meet a lot of people and kept me busy on the weekends. I wasn't allowed to go out unless I was preaching.

JWs made me hate school
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, i had an epiphany.
i realized that the jw religion made my experience in school awful and i hated school because of this.. yesterday, my kids had an activity where the whole school was out at the park, playing baseball, soccer, other pic-nic games and even swimming pools.
during the day, i had conversations with the teachers and saw the kids out, playing having fun.

Omg! Yes! I used to get severe stomach cramps as soon as I would see the school building. It was a nightmare. Also, being told that they were all going to die at Armageddon. Anytime I made a friend I was always reminded of their impending death unless I helped them become a witness. Ugh! How horrible to say this to a child. I felt so different already and being a JW just made it worse. I cant remember how many times I had to excuse myself from holiday activities during class. No wonder my stomach always hurt.

Ectopic pregnancies, when detected, are usually treated by surgically removing them. I always understood that this procedure was ok for Jehovah's Witnesses. But the subject came up during pioneer school. The circuit overseer started explaining that abortions are NEVER acceptable. A human is a human as soon as conception happens. But then he asks if there is ever a reason to break this rule. So I decided to raise my hand and mention the Reasoning book under Abortion where is says it's up to the individuals involved to make a choice if it's during childbirth. I also mentioned ectopic pregnancies.
Well, this didn't go over so well with him. Oooh noooo! He said the information I had was incorrect and the it's NEVER acceptable even if it means death for the mother and that such things don't happen anymore with all the medical advancements.
I was very surprised. Especially since ectopic pregnacies have risen. If a JW woman refuses the procedure to have it removed she risks major blood loss and loss of life. I was and still am surprised by his response. I spoke to other elders about it and they either had no idea what an ectopic pregnancy was or if they did they told me it's one of those things where it's acceptable.
I didn't find ANYTHING talking about ectopic pregnancies in the Watchtower articles.
Has anyone here had an ectopic pregnancy when they were a JW? What dis the elders say?
