I ran into a JW from my local congregation last night. He was, to my surprise, very polite to me. He was curious as to why I haven't been attending the meetings lately. I gave him the usual speel about being busy.....have a couple of things I need to work out...the usual "hey I'll tell you whatever you want to hear to leave me alone speech".

He said he had heard that I went on a cruise for apostates only. I then fell in love with an apostate and ran off with her. That is why I haven't been to meetings lately.

First I laughed. Then I asked him if she was hot. He didn't find that funny. I told him that it was just a rumor and that it is not very christian like to spread, or even listen to rumors. He agreed and left very quickly.

My question is, do any of you have WT articles that pertain to the topic of spreading rumors? I feel that if I ever go into a Judicial meeting, I would like to bring up this situation at the meeting. I feel it is not a very good representation of love amongst themselves.

Where were you in 1975?

i have a vivid memory of 1975 even though i was only 6 years old.

i remember the whispers and the fervor surrounding the year.

i even had an uncle who marked his calendar every day with big red xs proclaiming that he couldn't wait for "this evil system of things to end.".

I was not thought of in 1975..........

I was born in 1979. Like many of you, I did not hear anything about the 1975 date until I started to do my own research on the internet. I asked an Elder about the failed prophecy of 1975.....he said it was NOT a WT teaching. He said it was started by apostates to discredit God's chosen organization. It seems sad that so many people are lied to.........................

America Bashing

with all of the america bashing going on of late, i thought i'd mention the fact that america stands for freedom, as flawed as our system may be.

you're even free to be critical of the government and it's leaders.

the many men and women who have died defending this country did so to preserve the rights even of people who hate the u.s. there are many different cultures here, so there are many different attempts at creating laws for the land.

I have seen the show. Used to watch it all the time. I agree with Yerusalyim.

The dead are concious of nothing at all.

i have been reading a bit of thomas paine.

paine lived in the 17th century and was an agnostic.

i have many points that i want to share with you and i thought that this would be a good start.

Anyway, since Genesis contains a lot of myth, Adam and Eve, Noah, the tower of Babel, why should the history be treated as absolutely accurate?

If if's and butt's were candy and nuts, we would have christmas everyday.

If the big A came tomorrow, I don't feel I have anything to worry about. BTW, Christ faught my argument for me when he was on earth. I don't think I would have to argue it again.

a woman's right to choose.....

hey everyone, i was hesitant to post this article i read because abortion debates can turn so ugly so fast.

so i thought about it for and decided i should post it because it is important for those of us who value the right the choose to be aware of what that really means here in the us.

The alternative to legal and available abortions in the real world is not no abortions, but dangerous illegal abortions

Right on. That is one reason why I feel the effective action to minimizing abortions is not to make them illegal. If they become illegal, it seems more people will be hurt in the end, at least physically.
