Has a 'Christian' ever murdered somebody?
by goddidit ina jw made the claim "no christian [jw] has ever murdered anyone".. when i showed examples of such, the goalposts moved a bit with "was he a baptized, dedicated witness?".
can anyone provide examples of murders committed by "baptized, dedicated" jws?.
thanks.

Is suicide considered "self murder?" If so, there are many that have killed themselves....even at God's House, Bethel. -

The trolley is a brilliant idea by the GB! Literature placements are substantially down at the trolleys in lieu of personal door to door work. Low literature placements equate to less printing costs and a lower financial burden to the org. Yet, it still gives the rank and file a sense of accomplishing the preaching work. When the "Manhattan" (started in NYC) project first began, only servants and pioneers could work the carts. Now, I've noticed that any "tool" in a suit or skirt can babysit a trolley while they socialize with their partner. Want to hurt the org? Take the literature and toss it (in a recycling bin of course). Drive up their printing costs and increase the financhial burden of the trolley work. See how fast the new light comes and the trolleys are mothballed. -

JW Expressions We Hate
by Socrateswannabe ini was browsing through stuff on jw.org recently and ran across some expressions that really grate on my nerves: loyal love, loving-care, and loving-kindness, as in: "please exercise loving-kindness toward your servant.
" who talks like that?
they must be relics of the fred franz era.

JW's Funerals, Forget About The Person! Let's Preach.
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the dead person at his funeral.
so what do most people get after living 70-80 years?.
a 5-10 minutes eulogy.

I completely agree! I had always thought that the org was really tacky by using a "memorial" talk as a recruitment tool. The common talk just gave their name, date of birth, date of baptism (of course), and date of death. Names of survivors had followed with 30 minutes of JW propaganda to interest "worldly" people in attendance. Never knew a soul that came into the "troof" with a eulogy. It is a shame that even in death, the org takes advantage of the rank and file. -

What shocking stories did you ever hear about?
by Truthexplorer inas a pre-awakened ms, i heard of 2 stories that i found very shocking at the time.
please keep in mind, i was following wt blindly at the time and was part of what i thought was the true religion.
the first shocking story was when i attended a large meeting for elders and ministerial servants covering our circuit.

A 20 something, unbelieving son of a super-elder that couldn't deal with the pressure of conformance to the Borg.....elder and elderette laid down the law..."you live by our rules under our roof." He couldn't afford to move out on his own.....no skills, no higher education. He put a gun to his head and blew his brains out one night. How can they live with themselves? I didn't hear about it, but first hand knowledge.😥 -

What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.
if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.
when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

I think it was an assembly skit involving a group of young men. Of course, they choose the most attractive bros to appeal to the young sistas. They were sitting around talking about where they wanted to live in the NS and the type of house they wanted to live in. The theme was making the kingdom real to you. It was pathetic to hear the propaganda to put the kingdom first for the rewards later. Surprisingly, they all wanted to live in beautiful homes, with beautiful views, and perfect women. LOL. -

"Letting your yes mean yes, and your no mean no" only applies to the rank and file jdubs. Such hypocrisy. -

When I was in the "truth," there was a common phrase used throughout the area. I'm not sure that it was specific to just the local area or if others around the "org" used it to. There were a lot of disturbed and difficult individuals to deal with. The saying was " half the people in the truth were here to test the other half in the truth." I guess it was a humorous way to express the hypocritical lack of a Christian personality among many who don't follow what they were taught. After years, I look back and pity those entrapped to the org that struggle with all sorts of mental, emotional, and crippling psychological issues. They couldn't hold down meaningful employment, spent their time in service to the Borg, and became jdub powerhouses. They didn't have the means to seek professional help due to their employment and the prohibition on getting help. Meanwhile, the remainder just had to "suck it up" and believe that they will be made right in the NS. -

When the first iPad came out, a brother had volunteered to perform a substitute talk in the theocratic school for another absentee brother that notoriously blew off his assignments. There were 3 schools at the time, but with all the no shows, we hardly had enough for a school and a half. Anyways, he was a "techie" and was the first person to use the iPad at the meetings. He prepared his talk in the library and used his iPad for his notes and some research. He arrived on the platform with his iPad and a Bible. Using his notes on the tablet and the Bible to read the verses, he did an exceptional job with only 15 min of prep. After the meetings, I worked the book counter (encouragement to reach out to be a MS). After most of the people left and while his wife waited in the car, I could overhere a couple of elders in the room next door. They were counseling him on the use of an electronic device during for his talk. You know....showy display of his way of life, making others feel that they need a tablet too, promoting the apple logo while holding the iPad off the podium, putting technology ahead of God's word...ect. I guess the elders got a power trip on putting him in his place. I felt bad for him. Now, the greater majority uses tablets and phones to access the pubs. The org caters to these devices through JW.org and encourages their use with service meeting parts. I guess he should have waited on the org. I'm 3 years into being fully faded. Can't come soon enough!
