"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." This guy is playing with fire to massage his "theocratic" ego. Can you imagine the adulation he receives from the rank and file to minister to these incarcerated inmates? Once a sex criminal, always a sex criminal. That's why they are required to register in many countries around the world. The odds are against him that one or more of these people will offend again. I see another round of future lawsuits that will drain the org of their lifeblood, money. Give the org enough rope and they will hang themselves. Unfortunately, it will be a the expense of young children that will be scarred for life. So sad.

Prison chaplain.
by quellycatface ini'm rather gobsmacked to hear that an elder in my ex congregation has been appointed a prison chaplain (in the uk).
the reason for my disbelief, is that, this particular prison is for "schedule 1" offenders - covering sex crimes, child abuse/paedophilia and even downloading child pornography.
the reason for my reaction is that he has at least 9 "disciples" who have a bible study but i cannot help but think that when they are released, they will be part of a congregation, where they will have access to children and vulnerable people?

A truly sad story. I was in the same predicament, though not nearly to his extreme. It was very tough. My heart bleeds for him and I empathize with his situation. Unfortunately, these children will grow up without a father. The upside? The heartless money grubbing bitch can't get $6500 a month when he is dead. I hope Karma comes back around and pays her back, big time.

Aren't you a bit amazed that the WTS/JWS is still around ?
by Finkelstein ini know i am, to me its a bit of a peculiar anomaly that the wts is still around and functioning in reflection of its decades and now complete century that the wts has been bullshitting to people .
organizations like the church of god have shrunk dramatically from its heyday of the 1980's, this too was another organization that spread and grew by publishing its own magazine proclaiming a armageddon soon doctrine and its main publication was called " the truth " .
i'm guessing some of this has to do with the fact that people who get lured into this cult aren't aware of its past, its doctrines, the people who started it and so forth.

I'm not surprised at all. The many meetings each week provides a constant flow of Org propanganda and brainwashing. It use to be 5 meetings for about 5 hours plus field service, special assemble days, circuit assemblies, and district assemblies. Being surrounded 24/7 by the JW "friends and family" gives little time or opportunity to think critically. With the org website, music, videos, and the monthly GB talk show host pitching the most recent made up doctrinal change....these stunted viewers have nothing else to enter their minds. Honestly, I feel so sorry for them, slaving for the org with the carrot hanging in front of them until they die.

Memorial Non-Attendance: The Single Most Impactful TTATT Witness to JW Friends & Family
by AMNESIANO in(original version posted 2014).
notice: the following is submitted in full recognition of and with compassion and due respect for those who, due to personal circumstance, feel they are unable to employ this powerful strategy.. ---.
anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious true-believer from a celebrated multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.

Well said, AMNESIANO! The mandatory memorial attendence is a scam to guilt many inactive and uninterested attendees and unbelieving spouses into making changes to serve the org. Offering Bible studies to those that show up is like shooting fish in a barrel. Get in and get out. Try not to make eye contact with the hardcore JW lackeys and yes men.

Darkspliver is really close. I am in construction in the USA in the Midwest. Generally, you are looking at $300-$500 a square foot depending on the size, height, type of structure, specialty systems, and grade of interior finishes. A simple office building complex with residential suites would be about $400 a square foot. However, the $400 a square foot includes union labor. As we know, the real estate company, WTBT$, was built on free labor. Since many of the labor manhours are donated, the org gets a break. It can be said that about 50% of the cost, is labor. There still is cost involved with free labor such as housing, food, and other expenses. I would probably figure a 35-40% discount due to the free labor because I believe that they do subcontract some specialized work. Also, my personal experience on quick builds (do you remember those?) demonstrated a lack of serious rates of production as well as work that had to be done over again with additional material costs. I estimate about $450,000,000.

I wrote to Mr. Angus Stewart regarding the "inactive" status claims made by the Watchtower at the ARC
by EdenOne inthis is the email i have just sent to mr. stewart angus, who has been conducting the questioning of the jw leaders during the australian royal commission dealing with child abuse cases among the jehovah's witnesses, concerning the claims made that a jehovah witness who wishes to walk away from the organization can simply become inactive and avoid being shunned:.
dear mr. angus stewart,
i have followed with interest the videos of the arc regarding the jehovah's witnesses in australia.

Wasn't the shunning of the disassociated a change that occured in the mid 90's? Earlier, I remember announcements that "so and so" has disassociated themselves. The person was not formally shunned. Many used a preemptive disassociation before a JC could be formed for disfellowshipping. It was a little loop hole that the GB closed. Recently, they closed another loop hole of those who fade and are not spiritually strong should be avoided..a "soft shun." I'm a victim of soft shunning. Any one have the dates or timeframes that these changes were instituted. Hopefully, the ARC is privy to these GB pronoucements in written or verbal form? -

Week night bowling "get together's" during off peak hours where it's $1.50 a game....have to stretch that money on a minimum wage job. Also, scavenger hunts where they only drive to witness homes asking for odd items. The first team to return to the KH with all the items wins! Sounds alittle dangerous if you are driving fast and agressive to get all the items. Also, it wastes fuel...thus the buck fifty bowling games.

Assembly Dramas:They were so bad.... but.... you waited for them to break away from the monotony!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
you do remember the four day assemblies... sitting outdoors being fried in the sweltering heat, getting heat stroke in the middle of july in an outdoor baseball stadium.sitting outdoors from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. was so much fun while you wore a suit, long sleeve shirt and a tie while your brain fried.
mom's who had children to take care of,lug strollers, feed all the kids, take them for bathroom breaks and try to not faint from the heat.. the sound and audio was always breaking and barely audible from the wind, airplanes flying over and (if you attended the cicero, illinois circuit )you would smell horse manure from the horse stables next door.. you know that you are a jehovah's witness.... when the only excitement waiting for the drama... where brothers and sisters dress up in ancient cloths, fake beards, fake rocks and fake soldier uniforms and wave their hands incessantly to pretend that they are acting out a drama.the excitement was unbearable!.

I remember the assemblies at the Cicero race tracks. They were at Hawthorne and a couple across the way at Sportsmen's race track. Everybody had a mad dash to get seats in the air conditioned "Gold Cup room." Attendants, Elders and MS would get in early and save seats for their entourage before the doors were opened. "Looking out for the interest of others before themselves." Right. It was interesting to watch the horses work out before the assembly. The smell of manure and the hot sun beating down on you was expected if you were resigned to sitting in the outdoor sections. Later, it was moved to Comiskey (US Cellular Field) where everyone was outside. We endured the heat with the plethora of umbrellas clamped to arm rests and downpours of rain that ran down the steps and soaked everything that was stowed under your seats. Miserable. It rained almost all day. One assembly day, we were so soaked that we went to the car in the parking lot to dry off and listen to the assembly on the radio. With the heat on, we all fell asleep in no time and left at lunch time....and we felt so guilty. After the ballpark, we had to truck it out to Rockford at what is now known as the BMO Harris Center. After several years, it was moved to NIU Convocation Center. Now, I am told that it is at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates. Never been there since it was after I faded. We would have driven anywhere that they told us to go. Definitely, the dramas were our lifeline for breaking up the monotony. It was the only time that almost everyone was in their seat or even paying attention.
