More "interesting" FAN EMAIL
by Quotes injust thought i would share this with the group.. i don't get these people.
they actually take the time to write to me?
and when i take the time to write a nice, friendly reply, asking for clarification, they don't have the common courtesy of sending a response.

Can't help but scratch my head...
by Lee Elder in...when i read some of the posts in this forum these days.
the founding fathers had it right when.
they setup an electoral college and opted for a republic.

Me too, Lee! One of the things I love most about my life today is that I no longer feel the need to conform totally to a system of beliefs and standards, with which I may not totally agree, nor do I feel compelled to voice a protest to every issue with which I may not be in total agreement. I have a little sign behind my desk at work which reads, Dont assume I believe you or agree with you, simply because I dont argue with you!
Religion should bring out the best in people but sadly brings out the worst all too often.
Amen! There seems to be this inherent need in so many people, to systematize the principles and beliefs, which they personally have embraced, into a religion. In doing so, they set down moral boundaries and begin to define right and wrong, good and evil, for themselves and others, based on whether a belief or action, or an individual, falls within the parameters or this little system of beliefs, this religion they have created.
If one has a strong conviction, fine, proclaim it! If one has an objection, fine, voice it! But dont presume to know the heart and conscience of another individual, simply because he or she may not offer the support you would like them to!

Seeing Problem
by Undecided inabout once a month i have a problem with my eyes, or probably the nerves controlling my eyesight.
i see something like an oval mark that is drawn up and down in a half circle.
it sometimes keeps me from seeing properly, depending where it is.

I've had instances of what you describe occasionally for close to forty years. I'll have episodes five or six times a year. Mine usually last anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes. No pain for me either. It's just really annoying, especially when I'm trying to get work done. I've never had it checked out, but then I'm one of those guys who goes to a doctor's office only if someone drags me or I think my life is in immediate danger.

What sold you on the JW faith?
by MYOHNSEPH ini havent posted much here, but ive read a lot for about six months now.
although most everyone here appears to have had some degree of affiliation with the jw organization, the individual posters seem to be from pretty diverse backgrounds.
im really curious about something.

Dreamcatcher,
You're not like to find a more accurate and concise description of the indoctrination process used by JWs than that just posted by Chester. Thank you Chester! And you know what's really ironic? People such as myself practiced and participated in this process for years, without a clue as to what they were really doing. Hindsight can really blow your mind!

I married a stranger, did you?
by kenpodragon inin my current life i know a lot of people who live together.
some of them might have done this because they do not like marriage, and others have done this as a step towards getting married.
in all, in my post-witness life i find that i have no problem with either view.

I think most couples start out strangers, at least to some degree. It takes some time to really get to know another persons mind and soul. Sometimes it never happens. My wife and I were both devout JWs when we married. I was nineteen, she was seventeen and still in high school. Both of us were horny as hell, so we got married. That was almost forty-one years ago. In time I made my departure from the organization but she remains a devout JW. But just in case anyone thinks it cant work, we are closer and more in true love today than ever before. She may be unique, as a JW, but her love is unconditional, as mine is. We accept each other as the individuals we each are and neither of us tries to dictate what the other accepts as truth. I consider myself quite blessed.

Thanks for the kind words, notperfectyet. Sometimes things look a lot different when they're sitting on our own doorstep, instead our neighbors.

Although most everyone here appears to have had some degree of affiliation with the JW organization, the individual posters seem to be from pretty diverse backgrounds. Im really curious about something. I was raised as a JW from birth, so Im sure I dont have the same perspective as those of you who became a JW later in life. For those of you who became JWs after you were old enough to make your own decisions, what was it that sold you on the JW faith? Becoming a JW can have a pretty radical impact on family and friends and one's way of life in general. So what was it that convinced you it was all worth it?
