Is anyone hear a 'trained clinical psychologist'? Maybe they could examine this thread and post their conclusions. An easily testable hypothesis.

Rick Fearon should apologise for accusing faders of being cowards
by cedars ini hate doing this type of thread.
none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.
however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

More anti-apostate rhetoric from the Watchtower - are they running scared?
by cedars inyes, the may 15th watchtower is now available for download from jw.org.. the final study article, on page 26, directs another salvo at apostates - and warns witnesses not to try arguing with them on the internet:.
indeed, we ought to move as far away from wrongdoing as possible and not see how close we can get to it without being overcome by sin.
for instance, we need to guard against succumbing to apostasy, a sin that would make us unfit to glorify god.

Unfortunately, such tactics work. Truth is the only thing that stands up to more research and scrutiny. If you frighten a person from researching, then you've won. They are a cowboy riding a bull, the more it bucks, the tighter they will grip. They are like a dog chewing on their favorite bone--you can't take it from their mouths without getting attacked.

"Get out of the bleachers and into the game"... Memorial 2012 demonstration.
by koolaid-man innow is a good time to start making preparations for the memorial night demonstration at your kingdom hall thursday, april 5, 2012, after sundown.. close to 20 million people will attend this annual global witness event including active witnesses, relatives and friends of witnesses, bible studies, return visits and still attached former witnesses.
the evils of the watchtower org.have to be exposed and this is an ideal time to do it.. many around the world have been adversely affected by their association with jehovah's witnesses and you can be an instrumental force by standing tall and courageously exposing the watchtower organization.. there is no better way to let the watchtower know your revulsion than to broadcast and present your view by standing fearlessly, demonstrating in front of a kingdom hall.. i am fully aware that a handful of the internet therapists who post on this forum will not agree with this method of unmasking the watchtower.. those intolerant, contemptuous critics who will comment on this thread making harsh judgements and finding fault with those who protest are perhaps deep-down wishing they had the backbone to stop hiding in cyber-space, step away from their computer and "get out of the bleachers and into the game" .
lets make this a global event!......

What I care about is getting my friends and family out. Maybe not physically out, but at the very least, mentally out. To liberate the victims of Watchtower Babylon we need to work smarter, not harder.
It is taking more and more hours to make a convert, therefore, time and the internet, will continue to be the most effective force that works against making a single proselyte.
I don't think protests would deter most studies and other interested people, who are primed by the Witnesses to believe that Satan will oppose their interest. This would only confirm to them this prophesy.Perhaps a few people would be curious…but to do the most good, to reach the most people, is it effective? One documented incident isn't proof--the Society cherrypicks its stories, such as on disfellowshipping in the 4/15 Watchtower as 'proof' that shunning family is the right thing to do. But they discount anything that contradicts this evidence.
Statistical anomalies exist. For instance, in regard to the Higgs Boson, the LHC is doing more rigorous testing before they declare proof. To do otherwise, is just to hear what we want to hear and filtering out contradictory incidents.

Where is the second witness? (Russell and 1914)
by DT ini have been doing some reading about the millerites and the "great disappointment" of 1844. i cant help but to notice some similarities between the millerites and russell.. the millerites also used a prophecy of 2,520 years, but chose a different starting point.
they also appear to have initially forgotten the zero year, but later corrected their mistake.. i think it's interesting that the millerites had two prophecies that they thought pointed to 1844 (one dealing with 2,520 years and another with 2,300 years).. this kind of makes sense (if you try to relate to their world view), because the bible says that you need two witnesses to establish something.
a person can shuffle numbers in the bible all day, but it's not likely to mean much.

DT,
It's funny you say, "I cant help but to notice some similarities between the Millerites and Russell."
Russell was a Second Adventist and most of the beliefs of the Bible Students were derived from them. The Adventist movement spawned many a cult which has snared thousands, even millions.

Outside of JWN, I heard a similar story, so including here, that makes 3 independent reports. Maybe COs float crazy stories like this to see if it will show up on JWN the next day…then they can narrow down a list of suspected "apostates". Of course, maybe I'm being paranoid.
On a less paranoid note, is it possible that many COs are floating this story on Tuesday nights? Or could it be something promulgated by a single CO?

Where did this "God lives in the Pleiades" notion come from?
by james_woods inthe other thread with this name in the title made me think of it again.. i know the witnesses used to say this - and for sure, there are other religions that think this as well.. the fundy-baptist preacher that my sister got to do my fathers funeral made a big deal of it during the service - (why, i cannot fathom...).. so, can some kind scholar here give us a short course in why this particular star formation is so most holy?.

It came from the Central Sun Theory, that was already debunked when Russel picked it up. A 19th century astronomer believed that the stars in the universe revolved around a central sun, just as the planets revolved about the sun. He deterimined that center was in Alycone in the Pleiades. Therefore, Russel and, after him, Rutherford, concluded that Jehovah's throne was in Alycone.

I was scared to death of "apostate" websites...especially the crazy and sensational ones.

I remember visiting Brooklyn Bethel in 1990. There were blocks of protestors…I remember one irate man with a sign frothing at a cop, telling him to arrest Fred Franz and the cop giving him a You-Idiot-Lunatic look. They seemed crazy, angry, creepy--everything the Society said they would be. The protests affirmed my belief that the Society had the "Truth". And the Bethelites thought so too--they were irritants, especially to the ones who slept during the day. In the following days, the one lone protestor I saw, Mr. Coffee, seemed cut from the same cloth.
Protesting the Memorial is counterproductive on so many levels. First, even if you could get the Governing Body's attention, would they care? They don't listen to sincere petitions from the loyal rank-and-file, why would they listen to protestors? Second, one would mainly be protesting the rank-and-file, who for the most part, are the victims. Suppose a School Superintendent promulgates abusive school policies, would you protest on the school playground during recess? Third, for the most part, these rank and file are going to the Memorial in an effort to honor God's Son and his sacrifice and view it as the holiest day of the year. Protestors getting in the way of that could seem like protesting the very reason for the Memorial itself, therefore anti-Christ.
These are the tactics of Rutherford…they did not win hearts and minds. They only alienated people and got his radio show kicked off many stations. Why bear the image of the Judge?
It was said about Jesus:"He will not wrangle, nor cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the broad ways. No bruised reed will he crush, and no smoldering flaxenwick will he extinguish."
This is how Jesus won people over.

Normally, I try to stay away from controversy. But I think Rick's latest post went too far…and I do feel he should be removed. He has violated quite a few of the common sense guidelines. He can always come back under a new profile…and have a probationary period like all new posters.
I can understand that the Society can psychological wound people and perhaps the lingering effects of mind control are making him act out. Perhaps he needs exit-counseling.
If I understand correctly, he claims to be Christian and yet in regard to Christ it is written, "He will not wrangle, nor cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the broad ways. No bruised reed will he crush, and no smoldering flaxenwick will he extinguish."
I am not sure what fruitage of the Spirit is being manifested through his behavior.
