i've been looking at this letter for some time.. and researching it's origins.. i can't find anything conclusive, really.
i can't locate a denial of its existance from the society, but i haven't got access to any literature anymore, having left it all behind when i moved country to america from england.
so...is there any reference to it in, for example, the proclaimers book?.

Right then...thanks.
I'm sure I can find something like that somewhere.
If I have to I'll just get my parents to do some photocopying from their congregation's library.
It has originals of almost everything. Even Russel's books...

what is evil?.
who defines what is truly evil?.
if someone lived a trillion x longer than you, and had a billion x more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?.
"Can good come from evil?"
As I recall, the NW translation of the scriptures has GOd declare, after the flood, "Never again shall I call down such an evil upon the sons of man".
So, um, depends who you believe, but draw your own conclusions there...

Any help confirming it as more than an internet hoax would be nice

how many of you have had experiences where elders and others in the congregation presented and even pushed their own viewpoints on matters which should be left to each person's own conscience.. we are all aware of the frowns and negative opinions on the way we sometimes dressed; one elder commented on my tie as it was too bright - i once bought a pretty ornament which had a pyramid shape, afterwards a sister said that i should not have this in my house (she did not know precisely why...but sort of felt it was wrong!).
we got a few frowns when we had a wind chime, but at least there we did some research on and told the individual to mind his own business.. how many of you know the "demon inspired" proctor & gamble sign, which prompted many witnesses to abstain from purchasing any p & g products.
how silly!
Personally, I was presenting evidence that there should be no private counsel for elders/ministerial servants. I was writing away to the society quite happily, amused that I was presenting scriptures such as the example where (I forget the names now...) was it Paul coencelling one of the Disciples from the "platform"? I forget now...been a while...
Anyway, I was still a good witness, though, and approachedd the Presiding Overseer with a question about prayer and its effectiveness.
He gave me a home visit and essentially ignored my questions, enforcing his belief that I was doubting God, not the society.
QUOTE - "How many of you have had experiences where elders and others in the congregation presented and even pushed their own viewpoints on matters which should be left to each person's own conscience."
Just a thought about this quote...how many times has a "Questions from Readers" said "this matter is not covered by scripture, but we can see from this obscure reasoning that it is a VILE practice and a PERVERSE one and WOULD BE AN ABOMINATION if we wrote the bible" (or words to that effect...)

daily mirror december 20th!.
pregnant women can reduce the risk of life threatening high blood pressure - by practising oral sex.
researchers have discovered that oral sex allows a mother-to-be to develop protection against an allergic reaction to sperm which causes pre-eclampsia, a condition which kills an average 600 babies and 10 mothers in the uk every year.. dr. louise kenny, who specialises in the condition, says"normally something happens in pregnancy which allows the woman to accept sperm, but in some cases rejects it, which results in her developing dangerously high blood pressure.
Sorry to burst bubbles, but the daily mirror is hardly a bastion of accurate journalism, is it?
I mean, that's like quoting a watchtower at us...

anyone care to unify 2 samuel 24:1 with 2 chronicles 21:1 for me?.

If that's a given, then how can they justify mentioning that, in one, "Jehovah" motivates the census, in the other "Satan" motivates it?
Seems like someone's adding a personal spin to an account that eventually made it into the canon that eventually some people claimed was wholly divinely inspired...

i would like to give , on the subject,.
the actual wtbs teaching v the.
1940s rutherford teaching.. i actual teaching.
"[the Nephilim] were not men of fame with God"
Interesting that, while making sense in the context, outside of it, some phrases become less clear...
I've often thought about the timing of the flood and the evidence for it.
I'm unconvinced that it can't be explained another way. I mean, the society's quotes say something like "there is...direct evidence of a flood occuring", when in the book they're taken from i bet it replaces the "..." with "no" :P

i've not researched the organisation before in any true level of detail.. i left it about eight months back, after coming to my own conclusions regarding the accuracy of lots of things it has released.
i simply believed that it was no longer printing anything worthwhile, really.
it had contradicted itself too many times.. i was brought up in the religion, and was baptised at 14, and afterwards stayed in it for three years.
Thanks for all the encouragment and information.
Last night I was talking to my girlfriend about all this stuff and mentioned that there was the 1984 style "doublethink" filter, applying an argument to certain select targets only, especially with the research.
I think I phrased it "You're to test out other religions to prove their ideas are false, but if you question us you're arrogant and need to develop humility."
I saw an interesting quote from a recent watchtower: "Fight against independant thinking."
Made me giggle.
