i've been reading many topics in here, now i am wondering... what is truth?

i'm both respectful and broadminded enough to allow for any other viewpoint, whether or not i agree.

My letter to the WTS. Hello? Is anybody there?

about 2 months ago i wrote a letter to the wts regarding the un affair (part of mrs. kwin's exiting request).

2 months and still no response.

i explained in the letter that i had fallen into inactivity because of the information i found and am searching for an explaination how it could have happened.

Probably no direct answer to you ever. They might possibly try and find out which congregation you were associated with and send a copy to the Elders for them to call on you, and get rid of you if they think you got the info from some apostate source.

So, don't hold your breath!

What "cult-like" practices have you noticed with Born-Again Christians?

i recently went to a "pentacostal church" with my neighbor who has been a devout pentacostal for 30 years.

she has been asking me for years to come to her church since i left jw's so i finally went with her a few sundays ago.

i must admit i was nearly scared "speechless".

I'm a former JW and 'born again Christian, and the things you describe are not typical of most born again Christians but an abberation of a few. I find it strange and quite uncomfortable too. Non-Christian groups many times also have 'cult-like' practices and it is apparently a part of human nature to do weird things in 'group-think'.

my married daughter is a jw and lives a considerable distance from me.

not having a lot of contact with her because of the organization's policies, i was unaware of her interest in poetry.

she submitted a piece which was published in a poetry book recently and i got a copy of the book.. the only thing is, i do not know what the meaning might be in the words, and if they relate at all to her witness upbringing or not.

MY MARRIED DAUGHTER IS A JW AND LIVES A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE FROM ME. NOT HAVING A LOT OF CONTACT WITH HER BECAUSE OF THE ORGANIZATION'S POLICIES, I WAS UNAWARE OF HER INTEREST IN POETRY. SHE SUBMITTED A PIECE WHICH WAS PUBLISHED IN A POETRY BOOK RECENTLY AND I GOT A COPY OF THE BOOK.

As a JW did you "take a turkey" or accept the Xmas Bonus?

i felt it hypocritical to take a turkey abviously meant for thanksgiving.

i didn't like buying the easter candy after easter either as it was "food sacrificed to idols".. years ago at a place i worked they gave out a xmas bonus which i returned.

( a few hundred dollars which we sure could have used) they assured me that it was an "end of the year" bonus.

I was an Elder in good standing and owned a business with about 50 employees. I gave out turkey's on Thanksgiving and Christmas bonuses on Christmas. Nobody, even JW employees. ever complained or turned me in.

Now that I'm not a JW, I have been giving ham's to the employees for Thanksgiving. Go figure!

When you returned to your "WORLDLY" family how were you treated?

when we leave the witness "family" we know how inhumanly we're treated.

when some return, there is no rejoicing, clapping or undue expressions of "joy" allowed openly.

the gb wants a period of proving yourself worthy to be back in the "fold".

My mother told me 'if you don't get out of the Witnesses, I'm going to quit talking to you".

So, there you have the other side of the coin. I had to obey mom!
