  Convention Hotels

  i have heard an experience a thousand times (in conversation as well as from the platform) of a person who had a talk on the district convention program that did not stay at a hotel on the recommended lodging list.

  this person was spotted by a fellow conventioner and was asked why he was staying at a hotel that was not on the list and happened to be just across the street from the convention location.

  his reply was that he has a part on the convention and it would be more convenient for him to stay there than use one of the approved hotels.

  I probably could have gotten into trouble years ago. When it was time to eat, instead of going to the cafeteria at the assembly at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, I walked down to the college cafeteria and ate with the nuns. The food was a lot better and cheaper! Ummmm...........

  Outaservice (who also drove down the road a little ways so as not to pay the JW's to park) Not that I was cheap, but did not want to support the Society in anything I could get out of.

  I also stayed in an unapproved Hotel along with many other brothers!

  dear givers of the benefit of the doubt,.

  i recall that in discussing "love believes all things," the aid book stated that we should give our "brother" the benefit of the doubt until we have good reason to no longer do so.

  that's the gist of it.

  Personal Truths

  i have been doing alot of soul searching lately.

  having been raised as a dub and my entire world focused on that existence i seem to be a bit lost as to who i am.

  everything my life was based on was a lie, so that being the case i find myself having to toss all my former philosophies aside and start from scratch.

  Personally, (I can't speak for others on the Board) I've come to the following conclusions..............

  1. It's okay to vote

  2. Church's are not all bad (but some are also abusive)

  3. Blood Transfusions are Biblically okay.

  4. There are a lot of good people out there, many who do not attend Churches

  5. Holiday's are a good time to bond and show love to family (non-JW's) and friends

  6.You don't have to have a 4 door car to be loved by God

  7. It's okay to sleep in on Saturday morning

  8. You'll never have the answers to all of your questions about anything

  9. You are not an apostate.

  10. You can mow your lawn on Saturday morning

  There are of course many, many more things for the list, but this is just a sample!

  Anyone have ever seen a ghost (spirit)?

  when i was going at the kingdom hall with my father (i was very young), it happened from time to time that the subject of spirits entered in the conversation.

  then at this point, it seemed that everyone had their own little story to tell about the spirits of the devils.. .

  personnally, i'm always skeptic about these things and i won't believe it until i see it.

  Do you still call it "the truth"?

  do you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?

  for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .

  not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

  Kingdom Ministry School

  many years ago, i attended kingdom ministry school for two weeks in chicago, illinois.

  our instructor was a man i quite liked named dennis trumbore (sp ?).

  he seemed quite reasonable and kind in his teaching.. i later understand he ran into a 'snag' with the society for some interpretation of scripture (in ezekiel, i think) that differed with the official watchtower views.

  Many years ago, I attended Kingdom Ministry School for two weeks in Chicago, Illinois. Our instructor was a man I quite liked named Dennis Trumbore (Sp ?). He seemed quite reasonable and kind in his teaching.

  I later understand he ran into a 'snag' with the Society for some interpretation of scripture (in Ezekiel, I think) that differed with the official Watchtower views. I think he was 'readjusted' in his thought and not DF'ed.

  Does anyone know him or what ever happened to him?

  What did you think of the CO's bi-annual visit?

  did you think it was a "show", when just about everyone showed up at the kingdom hall when he showed up that week?.

  did you go out in the service that week more than usual, just to do like the others who were giving a show?.

  the moment the co's week was over, the attendance always came back down to normal..

  Knorr Was He Married? Any Info?

  i was under the impression that he was married to a fairly attractive woman who was his younger by about 20+ years.

  i heard this from an ex-bethelite.

  As I understand it, Audrey, after Knorr's death (1977?) married a Brother that was living/working at Watchtower farm, and they lived happily ever after. Is she still alive?

  Percentage of men who don't wash hands after pooing

  i just left my work desk to go to the rest room.

  this guy came out of the stall and clearly just finished his business and didn't wash his hands.

  i see this a lot.

  Most restaurants I visit have a sign in the restrooms that say: Employees Must Wash Hands Before Returning To Work.

  That surely must cure the problem.
