  Ya'll dont believe in God?

  i have to ask this although i have a feeling i dont really want to read the responses but anyway.

  i talked to several people here today who dont believe there is a god at all.

  A higher power, maybe, the gods of religions, no. There is no verifiable proof, that I know of, that a God exists. Can anyone here offer me that proof, other than biblical mumbo jumbo? I have read the posts, and am not convinced. Some have conceded to believe, even though there is no real evidence. Some have chose to selectively believe. The real question is, do you believe in something that is never going to be proven. Would you structure your life to accomodate it? Would you alienate family and friends to achieve it? Does the promise of eternal life motivate you? Not me, not in this lifetime:)Whatever you chose to believe, if you live for the common good ,through a God or not, the worst that can happen is you'll end up worm sh*t.

  It's funny how my dream date from 20 years ago has changed. At that obnoxious time of my life, it consisted of sex, beer and ham sandwiches. Now my wife and I can have just as much fun and romance going to the grocery store. It's not where you go, or what you do,
  it's who you are with.

  Thank you Wick. Well spoken. That is line of thinking I was trying to convey. Just because the majority of the posters here are ex-JW's,
  it does'nt necessarily mean all that read these posts agree. There are
  millions of lost souls out there looking to "belong". Maybe they see ex-JWs as the weak ones, unable to be part of a movement geared towards a universal family. Not willing to sacrifice their individuality for a "better" world. My question was an innocent (albeit somewhat naive) one. I have no agenda regarding any religious sects. I visit here purely out of interest in the human mind and spirit (I use that term loosely). Personally I don't care if anyone here is Jewish/Catholic/JW or an atheist for that matter, just don't push your beliefs on me. Julie replied that I will learn from this board. She was right. I learned today that it doesn't matter how intelligent you are, or think you are,the minute you belittle someone for making a statement that isn't agreeable, or perhaps understood, you lose all credibility.When Refiners first replied to my post I was taken aback at his anger. As I read deeper into it, and his subsequent posts, I realized he has way too much anger to objectively post anything of real value. I find that some of the posters considered intelligent just enjoy hearing themselves speak. They go on endlessly to address something that could have been said in half the time. I assume they are self important individuals that are basically insecure. Why else would someone put forth so much effort to appear more intelligent than they are? Who's posts have the most bang for the buck? IMHO Seeker for one. His posts are direct, knowledgable and based mostly on facts. You get the feeling he has a wonderful mind and posesses an emotional intelligence as well. There are many others, Seeker just came to mind first. I also learned what a troll is today LOL. While I understand Refiners dismay with such people, I hardly think it necessary to verbally abuse someone for speaking their mind. This a DISCUSSION BOARD after all. Freedom of speech ring any bells? My intentions were not to raise anyones ire with my original post, my apologies if I did. With that said, I will sign off now, I don't want to drone on and be misconstrued as being intelligent:)

  Why, to encourage more to join of course. The same reason they go door to door my friend. Why do missionaries go to third world countries where they are not wanted? To spread the "truth". Do you think that once a person has found what he/she is looking for spiritually they pack it in, no, they want to share in the joy of their newfound faith. What better place than a room full of heathens.
  Want a pamphlet. And by the way, so far you have dissed my name and my mind, tells me where you are at. I am on my way to work so if you don't here from me until later that is why. I explained in an earlier post,that I work long varied hours, maybe that explains my trolldom. I'z try to better in da future boss.

  Refiners-
  I am here because i choose to be here. Is that a problem? How many posts do i have to do before i am not a troll? I have a life and only visit frequently, unlike some others. I have seen many people duped by the "truth". My story is my story. If you really are interested, investigate big guy. It was a harmless question, that you have decided to turn into an issue. Have fun! Not very refined, pun intended.

  W. busy 'restoring dignity to the White House'

  just a reminder to all those partisan politics folks that both republicans and democrats are dirty, lying thieves through and through.

  conservatives enjoyed piling on clinton and getting all frothy about how he dishonered the dignity of the white house.

  then george w. promised to 'restore dignity to the white house' and instead of viewing this as a typical political lie to get elected, conservatives bought it hook, line, and sinker.

  Is anyone really surprised by all this? This country has been run by big biz forever. It's the American Way. Back to reality folks. While the tragedy of Sept 11th did unite the *people* of this country, it did not *really* have any long term effect on the government, as far as partisinship(?) is concerned, it's back to biz as usual. Sad.
