Many Jehovah's Witnesses and other Christians believe that Psalm 82 is referring to human judges. My question is this:
Chapter Parallel
Tehillim 82:7 (OJB) But ye shall die like adam, and fall like one of the sarim (princes)
many jehovah's witnesses and other christians believe that psalm 82 is referring to human judges.
my question is this: .
how is this a form of punishment if in fact these are merely human judges who were already going to die?

read exodus 22:6-8
jps tanakh : 6 when a man gives money or goods to another for safekeeping, and they are stolen from the man’s house if the thief is caught, he shall pay double; 7 if the thief is not caught, the owner of the house shall come near (נקרב) to god (האלהים) that he has not laid hands on the other’s property.
8 in all charges of misappropriation pertaining to an ox, an ***, a sheep, a garment, or any other loss, whereof one party alleges, “this is it” the case of both parties shall come before god (האלהים): he whom god (אלהים ) declares guilty (ַיְר ִשי ֻףן) shall pay double to the other.
OP???
David_Jay not sure what is going on but I do know this: I enjoy digging deep into the heart of the Bible and investigating that which is mysterious. Thank you for your scholarly information.

Check out some of Michael Heiser's (Phd) other material when you have time. Interesting.

It is all about staying away from polytheism. Read the essay. Very interesting.

in this link (http://defendingjehovahswitnesses.blogspot.com/2013/11/walter-martins-kingdom-of-cults-amounts.html) you will find an article written by bar_anerges (jehovah's witness and most likely an elder.
popular on yahoo answers and else where..) in the article he quotes from an apostate named james penton (see link below).
is it possible for jehovah's witnesses to peruse penton's work without putting their relationship with jehovah in jeopardy?

Is it possible for Jehovah's Witnesses to peruse Penton's work without putting their relationship with Jehovah in jeopardy? In a situation like this, should they just accept what Bar is saying without looking it up for themselves (even though he looks up everything for himself)? Why is an allegedly-active Jehovah's Witness elder looking at apostate material anyway? Should the JWs follow his lead?
