I just tried the two numbers in my phone that used to work. Been about a year and a half since I used either one and they are both disconnected. So I guess that is true that they change it to keep only current ones in the loop.

they stopped letting people do the bible reading and give a commentary of the reading incase the wrong thing is said.. elders must stick to the scriptures in the watchtower and not go outwith it.. nothing can be kept in writing by the congregation.

bible studies due for baptism are checked for a past history.

the society routinely destroys information on nearly everything.

People are becomng more educated despite the advice of the borg to stay comfortably numb and become a janitor, so more of the rank and file are developing keen critical thinking skills. Whether it is on purpose or not, many are learning from easily available information on the internet disturbing facts about the WTS. So they are tightning up and increasing reminders about apostacy.

The borg knew what they were doing when years ago they tried to keep the rank & file off the internet. Most witnesses, perhaps many here on this sight would have been terrified at the idea of "apostate literature" if they even came accross it. Now you could be researching a talk online and find mind-blowing info.

so back in the olden days, (the 1980s) it was really frowned apon for a man and woman who are unmarried to be alone together without a chaperon.

where i came from they probably carried it to the exreme but that's the way i understood it was supposed to be throughout the org.. i have been out for years, but my wife continues to be a faithful dublitron.. anyway, she cleans houses, and one of her clients is a recently widowed brother.

i have come to find out that many times he is there when she cleans his house.

My JW housekeeper tries like hell to make sure I am not there alone with her. We used to be real good friends but since I faded we haven't done much socially at all together. She is cute, but I wouldn't go after another mans wife, unlike plenty of JW's I know in good standing.

but it didn't end there, i read several studies in the scriptures, the even tide by john aquila brown (not all of it) and then proceeded to write multiple letters to brooklyn, all of which were responded to by dodging simple questions such as: "if the 70 years ended in 537 and jeremiah says there would be 70 years of servitude, which babyonian king were the jews serving between 539 and 537?".

i showed all three of the society's responses to an elder in my congo (even though he received copies of these himself) and he could see that they were "canned" responses that in no way anwered my queries.

His response: Alfred, you're probably right about all of this but I think you're paying way too much attention to details. In the past, Jehovah's servants were not necessarily educated so why would you expect them to be educated enough to know all these details?"
So, what has changed? Today JW's are instructed that anything more than the most basic, required by law education is a waste of time.

What are the specifics on eating animals?

i have been going to the kingdome hall sense i was young.

though when i ask questions my family puts them off, or beats around the bush.

i noticed after being raised around whitness's that alot fo them are fake.

According to the bible, after Noah came out of the ark, he was allowed to eat any animals he chose. Later, the Jews were commanded regarding "clean and unclean" animals, but meat was still ok.

Later Christians were allowed to eat any meat sold in the market, but were to avoid things strangled, as it would be contaminated with blood, which was to be poured out to show respect for life. If you need scriptural citations, myself or others here would be glad to provide them, but hope this helps for now.

Starting to read Crisis of Conscience....

after almost 2 years of being wrongfully disfellowshipped and over a year after finding this site....i am starting to read crisis of conscience.

i will not lie....i am a bit nervous as to what information i will find in the book.

i have a strong feeling that i will end up crying through most of it as i will start to see the truth about the "truth".

I'm just disgusted now. I've been reading it for a few hours with football on in the background and I am to the part on Mexico/Malawi political cards. I'm so amazed that such different policies were enforced AT THE SAME TIME. Your words popped in my head. This is more than I imagined.

Those poor brothers in Malawi.... if only they knew.
