  Talking to the dead

  as the borg hammered us into thinking that anyone who had contact with the dead were in fact speaking to the demons, however, now we know that a lot of their teachings are full of sh*t.. i lost my dad at the start of this year.

  a couple of months later i bump into a close friend who has known dad for many years.. this guy was stoked that he was getting married and mentioned how it was a shame dad wasn't around for the wedding.. yesterday i called in to see him and he told me something that had happened to him.. he was talking to his sister, who lives in another town, and she is active in some spiritual group.

  she said she had never met jack, my dad, but that she has been talking to him and that he had a message he wanted given to this friend, her brother.. dad wanted him to get out of this relationship fast.. he never took it seriously and carried on as usual.. not long after that, this fiancee of his smashed up his 4x4, was on a restricted drivers licence and spent the money he gave her for his hire purchases.. so, his truck is wrecked, he can't claim insurance to get it repaired, he still has to pay it off, a lot of his possessions have been repo-ed and that basically he is in sh*t street without a shovel.. do you think it was a message from my dad ??.

  Are you sure that no one knew anything about the fiance? I mean it's a small world and people hear gossip from everywhere these days. I mean the world is getting smaller with travel, communication and everything.
  Some of my friends have seen or heard things. But I've only suffered from my own hallucinations and painful childhood.
  Dreamtime is an interesting concept. Have you heard much about that? I think you would find it interesting.

  This is a sad, sad thread. I agree this happens all over the world and the saddest part is that we live on a planet where the dominant animal (thats us) does not welcome babies. I think that much of this comes from the patriarchal systems which insist on having a known father for a child. In matrilineal systems it was your mother and her property which got inherited. In fact your mothers brother would be more responsible for you than your biological father. But I digress...
  This woman had been raised in a society which puts so much pressure on sexual closeness and appearance that simple loving gestures are always interpreted to mean sex. I remember being out in service on a lovely spring day in Wisconsin. I was walking arm in arm down the street with a sister who turned and said to me "don't you realize what people will think of us walking like this, ...?" I was shocked . So women can't express love to friends... I think I hated Wis for that reason. Anyway back to this other woman. She (being a jw) probably had a loveless untouched life. In her illness and desparation she had sex to feel loved and wanted. So her denial of pregnancy when she realized what this revelation would mean that she'd lose everyone who she thought cared about her is understandable but not condonable.
  She did murder her baby. Her baby who was unwelcomed by both mother and society. Thats a sad thing. That no one was close enough to her to know that she might be depressed and need medical attention. What about the bastard who got her preggers in the first place? Just another guy slingin' sperm willy nilly. If someone had noticed anything, she would now have a precious baby to love and care for and to leave the bORG for.Or she would have lovingly given a childless couple their dream of parenthood. So many possibilities are cut off because of useless cold patriarchal systems.

  Oh My God Oh ****belly laugh belly laugh*** I'm showing this to my husband an ex elder in the AM, He won't believe it. Years ago a bunch of dubs got into trouble for advertising in Mother Earth News. Now we have a full fledged Borg site...this is too good.

  Lets see I'm 47 so I'll look for a 24 yr old guy who loves Jehovah, has never had sex and is willing to do anything for me. Because of his age I will support him while he pioneers with all those young women all day long. He will get so sick and tired of whining children that he'll be glad I don't want any.I hope he can cook and that his Mom and I will become good buddies. We'll boss him around and send him to the store for us. HEY THIS COULD WORK for some jw woman.

  Jan,Okay...yet another ancient history lesson. This one from 1970...I hope there are still people alive from that ancient date.

  The scene: 1970 Israeli/Palestinian conflict
  An offer is made to Arafat from King Hussein of Jordan.

  Jordan (which had actually been part of the historical Palestine) is a Muslim nation. A nice place if Islam is your religion.
  The King offered Arafat resettlement for the displaced , he offered HOMES not surrounded by barbed wire. He offered Arafat the position as Prime Minister and offered to make himself (King Hussein) less active politically. What? Yes King Hussein who always seemed to be a pretty nice guy-- hey he even married an American-- get out YEP he did, Queen Nor who is now Queen Mother was American. Anyway, This whole offer of resettlement and PrimeMinister post had everyone thinking PHEW finally this fighting will end . Of course we know the rest of that story.

  So who doesn't want peace? And who is the real hate monger in all of this? Not me I'll tell ya. I'd rather be prime anything rather than live the smelly life at Ramallah[8>]

  nobody here wants to lived in the new earth aka the coming earthly paradise?

  nothing in the bible is symbolic, because saying things that are symbolic in the bible, is like calling jehovah a liar, god would not write something like in the bible, then out of no where, it really means something else... example: 144,000, some people said's that's symbolic, lol yea right.... .

  anyway it seems like no one here wants to lived in the new earth, my question is why?

  This is a terrific thread... very helpful.

  For me it definitely had to be an education that started the end. But then I remember being bored out of my mind at meetings and assemblies.I remember the first time about 1985 when I made no attempt to hide my dislike of sitting all day long in the Astrodome (now torn down for ENRON field HA!) I was just like please please end this torment. I remember around 1990 maybe 1989 too, I would make plans to go to someother convention in the summer just to maybe be revived by change. That was a failure. Then college... It didn't take long to figure out why jws are discouraged ,ney ordered to stay away from those evil institutions of education.

  And then oneday at lunch:
  My friend Lisa and I were discussing evolution (we were both in engineering and were talking about our chemistry class) so we talked about theory of this or that and I said but the theory of evolution was unproven and Lisa said "everything in science is a theory, but that doesn't mean it's a fantasy." Then I thought about what I was learning and realized how right she was about theories. I started to read what I could on evolution, and realized that like the theory of matter, the theory of light , the theory of quantum mechanics...wow ...the light just came streaming in and I really was free.

  As ex-Jws have we learned nothing... Oh yeah thats the point isn't it?

  As with speaking to our friends and relatives who continue in the Borg we need to have compassion and show human kindness towards our friends who have chosen the cozy path of myths and legends.
  Read the Golden Bough, take some anthropology courses. Learn and admit at least to yourself that what you believe is 100% emotional and you will not be able to prove any of it. BUT be happy with your good spiritual feelings, that's fine and I'm glad for you. Be happy.

  Historically, Jesus as an individual is no more proveable than Marco Polo.
  And if you have faith in a god why not let that be as it may? Let your belief be enough. Why attempt to prove the unproveable.
  If you walk by faith you do not walk by sight... you can't have it ways. I wonder that the Christians posting here might not have some doubts of their own. Otherwise why do they feel the need to justify their faith.

  I don't care if you believe in little people living
  in the toadstool houses or Christ. Why is it so important to you? If you truly believe in a god of love, and god loves everyone then all the athiests will be fine someday... just love us (like god does).

  Good for you! My husband was an elder and was asked to step down after I quit attending. He really saw and finally stood up for me during an elders meeting where nothing was being accomplished except to find out that my questions could not be answered. AND dealing with another issue, that the PO was in no way responsible for the health of his alcoholic wife...who died and then he married his mistress who was a reg. pio who divorced her husband by claiming he was gay and and it never ends.

  I'm sorry your marriage ended but maybe your freedom will be more complete. You already sound like you feel better.

  My husband has now left the Borg and has even read the R.Franz book and Penton's also some other stuff. What's amazing is that our marriage is a bizillion times better now than ever before. We talk and better yet we both LISTEN. I totally support his christian beliefs yet I do not share them. He supports my rights and we even discuss evolution the Bible that stuff.

  I would show up at the wedding with a great looking woman (rent one if you have to). Remember, KH's are public buildings and you cannot be kept out...no matter what they say. Keep communicaton lines open..someday your kids may realize the dirty deed done to you, they may need your emotional support to leave. Send them notes and cards some will get read, most will get saved. Also send photos from time to time of the places you visit...or just of yourself, your dog whatever. They will never have the excuse that you just abandoned them. I would also (after awhile and you think you can) keep in touch with your ex-wife. Write notes in the note secotion on your $5K checks, or better yet attach notes . "hope you are well" "I've learned to cook" "I'm involved in designing _____---life is really worth living." Don't let anyone forget you, that you exist, that you have a full life.

  i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.

  I have always enjoyed a good fairytale or myth so the Bible is fun to read.
  I believe in the Bible , but not in god.
  I must add that while energy exists (and at least that's a fact) god doesn't.

  I was raised Catholic, went from church to church, became JW and went from door to door for 17 yrs. during which time I began attending college where I studied religion, studied the bible, studied history and anthropology and chemistry and math and all that other stuff to get a degree, went to grad school. Lived overseas and studied and worked. Found that the universe is an awesome place and that I feel no need to attribute it's or my existence to any image which another human has made up from scraps of ancient myths dressed up as supreme being(s)

  I love people, my country, my family, my friends. I believe children should be loved and educated and protected from pedophiles and disease.
  Most importantly I believe that guns in holsters (like HopAlong Cassidy wore) are terrific fashion accessories.
