Crownboy, How wonderful for you. You now follow in the footsteps of the American Revolutionary's. Thomas Jefferson was called an athiest for his Unitarian beliefs. George Washington was also a child of the Enlightenment. The Adams' and many others were also men of conscience and believers personal accountability to humanity. My very best wishes for you, Panda

MSNBC RE-AIRING of DATELINE:NEW STUFF
by dungbeetle inhere is the added material:.
stone phillips:(or john larsen).
in fact, anderson gave dateline a copy of this letter written in 1992 by a psycotherapist, a jehovah's witness himself, who said he'd treated many witnesses who'd told him they had been molested, and he had personally dealt with a number of elders who were more interested in suppressig a matter of abuse .

Thank you DUNGBEETLE I have been trying to remember everything about the show to tell my husband (he still thinks that the NBC people would exaggerate the situation) but I think reading this transcript will mean a lot to him. Thanks again, Panda

"You cannot separate god he is who he claims to be."
No, god is whoever the guys who wrote the bible claim he is and 3 or 1 doesn't matter because this is an interpretation of some much much more ancient myths. How interesting that the bible god as a trinity has through it's patriarchal interpretation caused the mother of the trinity to metamorphose into a winged spirit.
Athena's owl and Diana's hawk help us remember where we all came from... YES, MOM
You asked "who resurected Jesus?" answer no one...he wasn't dead.
Who created the world (universe, earth)? Gaia, NuWa, Nut any of those old oldies but goodies. -

WT at it again...cross or stake?
by dungbeetle injust found this on the watchtower website:.
http://www.watchtower.org/library/rq/index.htm?article=article_11.htm.
cross: jesus did not die on a cross.
-
Panda
Okay ...we all know this but allow me to get my thoughts down:
The cross (as we see it today)really did originate with the ever popular (especially with the Hebrew women)Tammuz cult.
The Tammuz groupies got started with the Osiris (mother-father-son) cult. (see Egypt the land of the gods)
Jesus (or those men who made up the Jesus myth) suffered some horrendous torture for what he (or they) believed.
The historical evidence certainly favors the cross and I suppose that now with all of the information so readily available the WTS must do a new song and dance to make the dubs believe that they had ALWAYS known this but it just wasn't the "proper time" to feed the sheep this bit of info.

ARRRGGGHHHH
This is the reason I left the WTS ;This is the reason so many others will leave .
I get dizzy sometimes just thinking of the contortions I went through to remain in that bORGANIZATION. reg pio drove me insane... but the terrible guilt if I didn't devote my life the WTS. Actually you know, now that I think of it I believed that I was devoted to Jehovah , nothing less than complete service to him. But try to explain 1975 about a million times and pretty soon you listen to yourself and wonder what the heck you are covering up?
OR when did Jesus second coming occur? Organ transplants..not just for cannibals anymore (THAT was really a tough one)!
I feel so so sorry for all the jws whose minds are bending inside out to justify the pedophile paradise in the WTS. Good grief...Glad to be Free...Panda

A Plea For Responsible Reporting
by hillary_step inmany hundreds of people read this site who are not subscribed, and i would suspect that the vast majority are jw's looking for answers to an internal turmoil that they may be living with.. the information posted on this board does get read and then passed among many congregations of jw's.
this information is a powerful force and is a wonderful thing for those who are seeking to be informed, and a not so wonderful thing to those in brooklyn who are seeking to harness the boundaries of knowledge.. given this scenario, and how much credibility can be lost by xjw's who perpetuate gossip and innuendo, can we check our sources and facts very carefully before we post information to this board.
there is no particular nobility in being first with news about some aspect of wts life.

Marilyn,
TONS of stuff offends me on this website. However, I realize the need for some of this stuff. And If a friend said this stuff to my face I would just say I don't appreciate it. But some people insist on spouting scripture and being christians and believing fairytales..what can we do but bide our time? panda -

Hillary, You use words such as "generally" and "most", those words don't give me any facts whatso ever...very vague.
While I will support your right to vent against whiners , the whiners have the right to vent too. I understand what you are saying about getting facts straight. Yeah that's important. However, part of the usefulness in this forum is to sound off. I think the frankness (though sometimes raw) brings us all closer together. And if our information is imperfect well we aren't saying that Jehovah told us this or that thing, we heard it, maybe it's true maybe not.
You know if we had direct references... well an example of possible mis-information would be:
I know of a specific congregation in a poor country who took care of a paraplegic...
what congregation?
Where?
Who was the paraplegic?
What did they feed him?
Where did they bury him?
Who were the folks who cared for him?Hil what if...what if ...this paraplegic turned out to be a regular guy who broke his leg and was in a wheel chair for 6 weeks and his wife and daughters were the ones who took care of him? What if they were in say a house? And what if they all had cars? I mean you didn't tell us anything did you?
I mean it's a nice warm story and it does belong here even if you don't give us the facts. When you complain about getting our stories straight because of how it might affect others (those who are still dubs)then we are missing the whole purpose of chatting and sharing. After awhile you know whose posts to question. Using common sense and judgement are new to many who have spent years in the bORG. This is a great place to revive those skills so long suppressed.
What bothers me is that what you suggest as editing sounds a bit like "[We need] to watch how we walk and watch how we talk to stumble none in our ministry."
I'm glad you're here and hope you will continue to tell us what you really think.

Bean, My ststements were not aimed at you. They were aimed at the dogmatic Christians. Anyway, Since you are studying this subject in depth try The Golden Bough.
In your studies have you read any books by Robin Lane Fox? He wrote Pagans and Christians, Alexander the Great, and my favorite The Unauthorized Version. The Unauthorized Version discusses whether or not we have a complete text in the Bible, Is it consistent throughout? When was it written and by who? Honestly this is a serious book of research and you will find yourself picking it up frequently.
