  Do you like Winter?

  well, this is the first day of winter.

  for all those who love winter snow, ice, slush, slipping and falling, colds and sore throats, frostbite and shoveling, enjoy it,.

  so, to all winter lovers, enjoy it !!!!!!

  We lived in Wis for several years. We had to buy our heating oil by the gallon. Yep scrape up enough $$$ for heating for the night (after spending $$$ on gas to go out in service all day) Yikes I detested those winters.

  Now however we live in south south Texas and 60 to 70 degree winter days are just fine with me. We did have snow last Christmas eve. Now that was fun!

  So winter depends on the longitude and latitude ... now winter in the US means summer down under --- that sounds pretty good too.

  So below freezing temps for 6 months NO ... 60* for 6 months, priceless.

  elton john got married in london.

  the brits have made same sex marriage legal !

  now i hope the us will follow suit (other than just massachusettes) and grant what is obviously a right for any citizens to get married.. hooray britain

  You can say "hi" you know

  so i'm home for a break and my mother comes in to my room to have a serious chat with me.

  she tells me that two young people from the congregation i went to that im related to are now living in the same town as my bf and she tells me i might see them up there and she wanted to warn me.

  i pretty much looked at her blankly and said um ok why would you think that was so important.

  I'd ask mom "hey Mom what if they ever say I can only say HI to you, should I follow that lead?" And these are relatives of yours? When some of our friends kids were df'd I still talked to them. Good grief I always wondered what kind of parents would stop raising their kids because the congregation made that decision???

  Had my first visit today

  i've got a couple older "sisters" that come around and call on me trying to share a scripture.

  first visit since i moved.

  i'm ready to bring up some real watchtower dirt and curious to see how their going to react.

  Ticker you'd be doing them a huge favor ... yikes I remember pioneering in EauClaire Wisconsin ... I would've LOVED being invited inside for hot tea and some adult conversation.... brrrr well we got down to 59 degrees today ... whooo hooo winter in south south texas.

  i tried to ask elders and they got upset with me.

  if bad associations spoil useful habits, why did jesus do it?

  why is nothing new ever discovered from the bible?

  Drew Sagan you have got to be kidding! The Bible is more like an amoral guide... genocide condoned and ordered by God... Paul condemning women as second class citizens ... early christians killed because they didn't give all the money that they promised to the congregation???

  Ticker, By old do you mean over 30? Well I'm thinking that as the winter progresses and the older sisters come to call, why not invite them in for hot tea and just talk about whatever is going on inthe world. Eventually take out the "In Search of Christian Freedom" and just have a few book markers in there and read a few quotes. Most JWs don't know what the book even looks like or who wrote it. Then ask them if *such and such is true?*

  I had a few sisters stop by (I was their RV) but I guess that they got wise and never came again.

  i really fancy reading r franzes book " in search of christian freedom".

  has anyone read this book?.

  if so is it worth a read?

  I read "Crisis of Conscience" before I officially left the WTS; Then I ordered "In Search of Christian Freedom"; and that book is the one I was able to get other friends to read (including my husband) ... I loaned it to a friend and never got it back (that happens most of the time I lend books).

  If you are interested in books about early greek scriptures then try anything by Elaine Pagels (The Gnostic Gospels, Beyond Belief). The Fox work "The unauthorised Version" ; for fiction nothing beats "The Red Tent" based on the story of Dinah from the Bible.
