  Well, we went out after the memorial....

  after the memorial, we decided to go out and grab a bite to eat.

  my family and i went out with a witness couple that we consider close friends.

  for the last couple of weeks, i've expressed my views re: wts to my good friend openly and turns out he had the same thoughts and doubts as well.

  WOW you are in for it now! Within a week everyone who is anyone will know what an evil man you've become. How could this happen? Well of course he must've always been this way and now Jah is weeding him out. good grief.

  A very good friend and fellow RegPio would mention that someday she would have the pick of the single brothers once her husband was out of the way. Then I recalled having heard similar comments in my dub years. Many sisters talked about the new system remaking their old husbands OR getting a fresh start with a new guy, because maybe their spouse wouldn't be around. Very sad when abusive speech is considered "OK" in dubdum but WTS forbid normal expressions of passions between spouses.... good grief I'm glad to be gone.

  I think that's a very common misconception - even here in the UK

  I'm glad to know it's real because I love the story --- her defeat also shadowed the defeat of the matrilineal system in western Europe.

  Since we know the economy is in a crisis, how are you budgeting better?

  i thought it would be useful if we discussed ways we have tried to budget better and also save, and even be greener, if that is something you care about.

  i have noticed substantial differences in my saving and budgeting and i am hoping maybe we can learn from each other.. food.

  i did a sum of all the money i was spending going out a few days a week for lunch, and i just realized how much i could save by making my lunch and buying soups on sale for lunch for the week.

  • I live in a rural area so I cut down on driving trips to town and probably will only get to more distant places (the coast ) only once a month.
  • I eat at my friends houses as often as I'm invited; about 3 or 4 times per week.
  • I ask for a doggy bag for my dog (and sometimes I get leftovers for me too).
  • I look for sales at the grocery store DILIGENTLY and am surprised to find stuff I use regularly. We often have a buy the mayo and getthe tuna free type deals. They work for me!
  • I often but not always create homemade pet food for my dog and cats.
  • I buy fresh whole chicken at $.60 lb and make that last. Fruit and vegetables are a fairly reasonable price here. BUT bread is outrageous.
  • Eat more rice.
  • Look into indigent patient care at your local hospital. It will save you tons of trouble for when you end up in the ER w/o insurance.
  • Check drug companies policies on free medications (I get some of mine that way from Pfizer)
  • Don't even look at those current magazines at the check out --- no matter how tempting Rachael Rays food looks you can get her recipes online.

  Since my husband Nick died almost 2 years ago I have had to learn to be even more thrifty than I was before. So if you think you've made all the adjustments possible ... there is always another item to cut out.

  Medea murdered her children who'd been fathered by Jason. Very modern woman in that way.

  I nominate Eleanor of Aquitane. She was educated and went on crusades (I think she was bored at home) with her French King husband. She understood military strategy and defied the suffacating standards of her day. Her marriage to the French King was annulled --- the King's advisors couldn't stand having an educated woman butting in on policy. Then she married the much younger and handsomer King Henry of England (he really admired her land holdings --- the Aquitane) he later banished her to a northern island castle/prison on the pretext that she had poisoned his girlfriend (well, yeah, ok she did), actually he was worried he'd be next. BUT she didn't murder her children. She'd rather have done in husband Henry so one of her boys would be king ... which I think at least 2 of them were kings .

  On the futility of everything

  once again i'm in a philosophical mood: .

  we spend our time in avoiding death as though the absence of being was our primary reason or motivator and yet our mere existence is clearly not fulfilling in and of itself (for a nightmare example ask yourself- would you rather die or live in a fully conscious state but be totally paralysed and unable to communicate.

  if existence alone is not enough yet we will give almost anything to continue to exist what is it that we are actually aiming for?

  Do we need to think through our everyday actions or are we as Satanus mentioned

  As blades of grass and saplings push/are pushed up, reaching up blindly(?) to the sun, so we push our way through the problems of daily life

  This is what evolution is all about. The id is in our primative stem of the brain (snakes still primarily use this and they are uber intent on eating and mating) so we reach toward whatever has proved useful in order to sustain us in/through life. Eventually we found (by we I mean animals) that the new pleasure centers also aided in survival. Things like a sense of community and speech made us more resistant to predators and better able to gather foodstuffs. So we made reaching towards the sun or pushing through the soil a simpler task, so we move on to bigger and better inventions; writing,weaving, art...you get the picture. We are deeply programmed for life and the continuation of it either through our lives or descendents.

  New Book Donkey Hooty the Legend Lives

  well i've been working like crazy editing my late husband's book for 'tweens donkey hooty the legend lives.

  i had to learn some new (new to me) software.

  Well I've been working like crazy editing my late husband's book for 'tweens Donkey Hooty the Legend Lives. I had to learn some new (new to me) software. You'd think that Adobe is Adobe but noooooo. Publishers have all of their own requirements and templates. I used to think of templates as a useful art tool ... nope they are torture. Finally it's done. I am so excited because this was Nick's dream, to publish his novel. Even though I cry everytime I retype, it's a good cry. I remember all of the fun discussing Nick's ideas and arguments over his use of contractions. Now I'm glad I've stuck with it because I feel I've really done something to honor his memory.

  Would You See A Therapist or Doctor To Help You Get Out of JWs???

  there are a number of people that have been "out" of the organization for years yet they almost seem to live for the "old days".

  they might still be bitter , angry or depressed because of their past.

  but in a strange way, it seems like they never really want to get back into reality, into the real world.

  Psychiatrist and psychoanalysis were 5 years of learning and dealing with the ugliness of mind control (and some other stuff). In the meantime I went to Univ of Texas, got my degree, studied in Beijing PRC came back DA'd myself because I like to cause trouble and make people stop fence sitting --- friends would either remain friends or not, it was their choice. Then back to China for graduate school. Do I think a psychiatrist is worth the effort in easing out've bOrgdom? You tell me.
