where do jws stand on the new medical marijuana?

i know they would df for use of it for recreation but if a dr in california gave it as a perscript, and it was legal to buy and use for medical use, has anyone ran into this yet?.

You guys rock. My standard answer is gonna be that, "I don't discuss medical treatment with others so as not to discourage my brothers and sisters from developing and exercising their own bible trained conscious and relying on my choices to guide them. I carefully evaluate my doctors recommended treatments or medications with my own bible trained conscious and research. I can assure you that whatever medical treatment I choose for myself will be administered in accord with the doctors instructions. Thank you for your concern and please respect my right to privacy in how I deal with my medical challenges."

I just wanted to promote this thread and get some updated info. In Colorado and many other states medical marijuana is legal. I haven't seen any new light from the Borg about its use by witnesses tho. Wondering what you guys have heard/learned in the jw grapevine.

Anyone been to a meeting after a drink...or three?

i recall going to the second half of a thursday night meeting after what was meant to be a cheeky after work beer (three strong beers downed quickly on an empty stomach).

i would have been ok had a caring elder not decided to grab me for some encouragement afterwards.. i hoped the faint odor of smoke on my clothes (smoking in pubs was still the done thing in those days) wouldn't be noticed but hard to hide alcohol on the breath.

i tried to say very little and talk in a way that avoided me beathing over him.

I know a brother that doesn't go to meeting without, as he calls it, "getting his head right." Loosely translated that means he smokes weed before he showers for meeting. Cool brother tho. Everyone thinks he is tired from work but his blood shot eyes are from being smoked out.

How do you Spell Disfellowshipped?

the reason i ask, is that if you search the wt publications, you will see that it is spelled with only one "p" over 600 times, but also spelled with two "p"s 600 times.. .

very confusing!

any linguistic experts out there that know which it should be?.

Watchtower asks Congregation money for publications

does anyone remember the case where some congregation didn't get enough money to cover the costs of the magazines?.

wtbts sent a letter to the congregation asking for money.

does anyone remeber this case?

I don't think they would cut anyone off. That would be very bad PR. However, in our hall there was letter read recently that normally would have the acknowledgement of our donations. However we literally had NO DONATIONS to the worldwide work. So the letter stated that. It wasn't written in a threatening manor but the point came across. I was cracking up!!!

when i read the article,it reminded of a new amway recruit.who bragged to his upline (big top pin) of how many amway tapes he placed w/o realizing that it was a scam and his business support material (tapes) were a cash cow for his upline.. likewise, jw reading this article w/o realizing (ruling the roost) are scamming them..

All of us have access to the mags...JW.org. Just most if us don't want to read that mess. I personally like reading the cliff notes with a sprinkle of animosity, posted to this site!

I went. Attendance does seem like it was down from last year. Nice to see the dwindling number of those with the heavenly hope is growing! Lol! Went to eat with the family and a couple of friends. Good times. Definitely not the most important day of my year tho.
