Hello. I am a new member, but your story got my attention because you sound like me...seven years ago. I was married at 18, and miserable for 2 and a half years. I knew I wanted to leave for about 3 months before I actually did, and I won't kid you, it's the hardest thing I ever did. I sacrificed my entire family and the many friends I had made over my 18 years as a witness. Don't kid yourself and think that anyone will treat you the same after. No one talks to me, and if they see me, they turn away like I have some kind of disease. Was it all worth it? ......YES! I have never been so happy. All the free time, to yourself, and all the other friends you'll make eventually, and last but not least, enjoying birthdays and christmas like normal people.(Thsi took me a while to do). I met an incredible person, who my parents won't even meet just because he is "worldly". It just doesn't make sense. After a while you will see what the real world is like, after leaving the proctective, cultlike shell of the "truth". Hope this helps, PARSNIPS

No windows on Kingdom Halls?
by just_a_girl ini just read a post on another site i belong to (non-jw related) where a person asked if anyone knew why jws do not have windows on their kingdom halls.
a few other people responded saying that they had noticed the same thing, that they thought it was b/c the jws believe that windows are just an adornment, hence a distraction?.
in my 20+ years of being a jw and attending quick builds, i never noticed this ... it never even dawned on me ... and now that i try to think back, i can't remember there being any windows at the khs i attended?.

Letting go of JW relatives (Long)

like many of you, i left a lot of acquaintances, friends, and family behind.. the acquaintances were fairly easy to let go, the friends very hard, and the family, well, near impossible, at least up until now.
that she should listen to both sides of the story without fear and make her own decision.

Ex JW Down and Outs.
by refiners fire ina large proportion of the ex jws i know and stay in contact with are pretty much down and out.. i stay in contact with 4 from my past.. out of the 4:.
3 of them are long term unemployed.. 3 of those have psychiatric problems.. 2 of them dont have a stable relationship.. only 1 of them is a reasonable financial success.. my perception of the ex dub world is one of destroyed lives and, too a large degree, hopelessness.i base this perception on those ex dubs i know.
course, they are all hard core apostates.

I think you have some hate issues you need to adress. I am disfellowshipped, and I have an excellent job, a loving husband, and more understanding of the real world than you will ever have. I hope you don't have to live in a proctected shell you're entire life.
