i thought it might be interesting to post a survey for those who post on this forum.. perhaps it will provide a basis for some additional stimulating discussions on god and religion.. with that in mind, i have posted a survey of 10 yes/no/unsure questions on the bible/research forum.
That was nice of you to share that AhHah. Thanks for sticking around btw. You seemed to have helped get things back on track, content-wise around here.
I'm perhaps like yourself a bit in that the price paid was well worth it despite the losses. I think I would have lost more had I remained a fool and spent my whole life believing a pipe dream.
There's only so much time we have. The sooner you make up your mind, the more time remains for you to see your loved ones see the light.
Wasn't there some american dude that said "Give me liberty or Give me death"?

i really tire of the word games these days.
how wt public affairs representatives present things to the media so as to give an impression that is not quite accurate.. not that they lie mind you, but if someone is led to the same false conclusion, what's the difference, really?.
here's a link to an article posted by jan g. on h20 regarding blood (again.. ) http://allafrica.com/stories/200010050377.html.

The WT spokesman for the country's comments are interesting.
"There is no policy in the Church which bars anyone from blood transfusion, it is all a personal choice that anyone is entitled to," Samabona said.
While perhaps technically correct in the sense that no one can prevent you from taking a blood transfusion, the reader is left with the perception that its some wacko member that's killing his child and he can take a transfusion if he wishes.
Obviously those who are aware know that the official teaching is that you'll be shunned by family and friends and God will destroy you.
The article reveals this by quoting your average "Joe" Witness, who apparently missed WT PR lesson 101.
But Jason Sakala, another Watch Tower member, supported the parents' decision. He quoted Genesis 9 verses 4-16 to support his views that the eating of blood is forbidden and anyone who disobeys this is disobeying God's law."I am in support of the parents because they are using God's words as their guidance. If they decide to do otherwise then they will be disrespectful to God's law," Sakala told PANA.
He added, "putting one's life ahead of God's law is fatal, as Mark 8: 35 and 36 tells us."
All of this is because countries like France view us as a cult and that we DO have cult-like traits. Hence the jumping through hoops to make us look "normal" and free.

a post on witnet reminded me of this old question from readers in the 1960's.
(and you thought we were sexist .

As painful as your comments are to read Waiting and 7, thank you for sharing them.
Not long ago, i thought that if people don't talk about such things, it would help them move beyond such horrible experiences.
I guess that's one more thing i was wrong on.
I read your posts Waiting in incest threads on H20, just because you wrote them, but generally skipped over incest/rape threads because i don't like to read about it.
But just because people like me don't like to read about it, and just because people don't want to believe such things happen to little children, doesn't mean such things don't happen.
Putting faces to the articles that i just skipped over, or that i shook my head at and thought "my that's horrible", and then just moved on, puts a whole different spin on these subjects.
Anyways, I have alot of pride and respect for both of you. However difficult it was, and however difficult it will continue to be, i'm sure you're sharing will help someone, and the more that talk openly about these things, the more likely a society where such things are no longer commonplace.
Enjoy the sunshine again.

PS. I still have a long way to go. I see, just looking over what I wrote, I barely use the term incest or rape. I dance around the topic using terms "such things", "it", "these subjects", "horrible experiences". Still working on losing the "old school".

Funny thing as a Witness, progress and learning seem to come to a standstill after one or 2 years. You learn basics, then get caught on a treadmill of the same old same old, except for "flashes of new light".
As far as spirituality goes, i've probably learned more in the last year, than in the 7500+ meetings i've been to.

simply respond to each question with a yes or no answer (or '?
' if unsure):.
before answering, please see my comments on general/main - "how about a survey?"..
The Bible is not a handbook of religion and/or doctrines but rather a compilation of writings intended to serve as a compass rather than a map.
I like that. "compass rather than a map". It seems to make so much sense. Thanks.

I agree with you AhHah. On the other hand, its not unrealized expectations that are so disturbing for me. I am probably sure of one thing, that i will die, and I have no problem accepting that. (well, not overly thrilled with the growing old and getting sick part, but what can u do? )
I guess I am disturbed at the lack of any foundation these days for any sort of belief. At the end of the day i'm left with just strong ideals, and maybe that's all there really is.

I really don't know how to answer that question. Its quite difficult to answer questions like that which by your answer you reveal how much faith you have lost in something you were once so sure of.
Not being sure of many things doesn't bother me. Not being sure of the nature of God, the Bible as God's infallible word, these things are quite troubling.

i find this guy to be pretty cool.
appears to be an ex-brooklyn bethelite with a style all his own, down to how he types and phrases his posts.
he's confident without being arrogant and condescending.. probably the best thing for us in helping family, is to remember how we thought and acted and reacted as a witness.

Probably the best thing for us in helping family, is to remember how we thought and acted and reacted as a witness. And as heated and rediculous the resoning gets, never lose your cool and never forget where you came from.
Here's a recent sample of him making remarks about pain in the but "7" (not 7of9 lol, although...) http://www.cyberpass.net/~h2o/wwwboard/messages/287452.html

I was interested in the result that no one besides ME believed in some sort of "last days".
While I agree with Frenchy that the term is rather vague and abstract and meaningless in itself, it seems to be tied to some sort of "end" for mankind. And as such, wouldn't the later period of mankind's existence in relation to that "end" be well-termed "last days"?
Of course, not knowing how long those last days would be, does sort of make it meaningless. Perhaps it could be days, weeks, decades or centuries.
But I wonder then, if people no longer believe in some sort of "end". Do they see mankind existing and progressing indefinitely? Or is it simply that our own death is the end?
Kind of reminds me something David Suzuki said once, that mankind is like a bunch of people in a car heading for a tree, and everyone is arguing still over where they are going to sit.
