  Having some fun

  just picture this.. two jehovah's witnesses walking through the local mall or shopping center on saturday morning doing what most active jws do on saturday.

  trying to get in their hours to report to big brother, or in this case, mother.. the two witnesses are doing street work.

  one of the witnesses is a well known jw elder in the congregation.

  That's a good experience Scorpion. I know alot of Witnesses these days don't believe everyone who is not a Witness will die. It seems that is a hidden part of our message, and while at one time we "told it like it is", these days, its only something that's understood, but not talked about.

  I've done something similar with a Witness friend who was witnessing to a "worldly" friend. I made sure he told ALL the facts as to what we believed if he didn't become a Witness.

  Hey, if that's what we believe, then lets not beat around the bush.

  I kind of feel bad for the elder in your experience, because I can picture being in his shoes. He won't forget too quickly what you said, and maybe that might be enough to get him thinking.

  I feel bad too, because the elder is just a member, like we all were, taking the heat in the "front lines", where as those responsible for many things, that quite likely could change one day, are nowhere to be found.

  That was interesting (and not too much of a long read either).

  I sometimes wonder what some of these psychiatrists must think when they get 20 jw women going to them telling them all of their "problems".

  I have found that JWs have a strange hold and effect on their women. And I believe its in a different way than with men. It would be a facinating subject to explore further.

  hey who here as a kid added little embelishments to the wtbt publications?

  a real favourite was drawing in arrows and spears on the guys on the inside cover of the song book.

  you know the ones clutching both hands to their chest as they sang their hearts out....well all of mine were actually clutching at an arrow that was sticking out of their chest.

  It will be nice to have someone with a Christian perspective that hasn't been tainted by the WTS.

  This was interesting. I had to read it a few times to figure out there were no sheep (lol).

  So is he saying we are all like sheep grazing in the field until the butcher's knife (death) ends it all?

  or is he skeptical of the afterlife, believing that those who are led by churches to believe something more, are simply lambs to the slaugher?

  is the poem about death itself, or the misleadings of religion? Or is it something else?

  why is it that most r&f witness can take anything the gb dishes out and swallow it whole?.

  my mil takes everything she reads in the wt and calls it "meat in due season".

  i guess this week's wt is about patience.

  This is something that bothers me too. One would think at some point the flaws are so obvious that thinking persons within would spot them for sure.

  The problem is that you are so "sure" the "truth" is true, and so afraid of what would be if it were not, that you don't consider that possibility, and you makeit work.

  The comments you make about "patience" are interesting too. Strangely the end always seems "right around the corner", always 3-5 years away. Close enough to be able to stick it out, but far enough away to not be overly suspicious of the time frames.

  The thing is with being a Witness, you never look behind to see where the years have gone and just how many critical teachings have changed. The sad thing is, you never look far enough ahead either to make sensible choices in life to be able to cope if the "end" doesn't come within that 3-5 years.
