Oh! I got it, I got it!! It's the scripture that says "they load heavy burdens on men, but are not willing to lift one finger to help." It fits!!

just had dinner with my wife and a couple of her friends.. one of them was telling me about her sister-in-law, a very nice, kind person who i've met on several occasions.
it seems this sister got a job in an office as a receptionist/secretary.
last christmas (1999) her employer asked her to sign christmas cards for all the clients.

i thought that maybe i would keep everyone up to date re the foot and mouth epidemic that is sweeping the uk.. my wifes brother bob has a farm in dumfries, which is just across the scotland border.
yesterday tony blair visited the area and commended the farmers for their courage in keeping going in the face of almost insurmountable odds.. this morning bob received a letter from the ministry of agriculture.
his animals are within 5 miles of an outbreak of f & m, and as such they are to be slaughtered in an effort at containment.
Englishman,
So sorry for the woes on your wife's family.
It seems I read recently there were some animals in Vermont, U.S., who were going to be destroyed for F&M.
Best thoughts to you,

to the household of god, israel, that is on jw.com, and all those who 'got with' them:.
may you have peace!.
because israel has, at this 'season' fallen asleep with regard to many 'things' that our lord, the son of god, jah-eshua mischa-jah ("jah saves"; messiah - "chosen of jah"), 'commanded' us to teach others (matthew 28:20), i am compelled by the spirit of my father, the holy one of israel, jah of armies (psalm 68:4), that is in me, by means of my lord, to remind israel of one of such commandments.. on the night that he was put to death in the flesh, our lord gave a commandment, to which he stated "keep doing this in remembrance of me.
Hello and welcome "Guest!" But in response to your post . . . I guess you can't argue with logic like that.
Waiting: where do you get your wonderful quotations? NO, don't tell me--then they wouldn't be so special, would they? I really enjoy them!
(((((Hugs!)))))

Is this the principle that is akin to the WT saying jws don't serve in the military, etc., not because the WTS teaches that but because of their own personal study of the Bible? That way the WTS doesn't get stuck for any of the sticky wickets they create by their doctrines. It's on that one site under "Is the WT written by lawyers?" It's a stand-alone kind of thing.

that is, in the usa, did you turn your clocks one hour ahead for daylight savings time?
this is the first sunday of april, after all.. oh, did you think i meant "did you turn in your time reports for field service?
if you, thought so, april fools!.
Gopher, Well you got me! I certainly did think about my field service. Coincidentally, an elder and his wife stopped in and saw me today and asked if I had any fs time. Negative. But they are such a dear couple. I just told them I've been sick a lot (which is true as I had cancer two years ago with residual problems). Besides, the Insight book, et al., say it's okay to withhold part of the truth--not that I rely on that anymore.
But, thanks for the reminder to turn back the clocks!

This is such a good thread, Hippikon. Thanks for starting it. I haven't formed any beliefs yet as I just left a mere month ago.
However, reading statements such as 99% of scientists believe in evolution as a fact, and some of the very derogatory things about the Bible, now that I don't see it necessarily as the "Word of God." Things such as the genocide praticed by the Jews. Have you ever noticed the disparity of the WT saying how worldly nations drop bombs that kill innocent women and children? HELLO! What do you suppose the Israelites did to all those Canaanite nations?
However, I digress. My point is that is you view this life as maybe all there is, you are more inclined to value it and use it to the best you can, since there is no "paradise" or "heaven" where you have forever.
Also, ever notice how everything else on the earth dies? Permanently? Why should humans be any different?
Well, that's my two cents. Cheers!

a few excerpts from twain's book:.
on angels observing the animals on earth: .
"busy, all busy--mainly in persecuting each other...here are countless multitudes of creatures, and they all kill, kill, kill, they are all murderers...(says the) divine one: they are not to blame.
A few excerpts from Twain's book:
On angels observing the animals on earth:
"Busy, all busy--mainly in persecuting each other...Here are countless multitudes of creatures, and they all kill, kill, kill, they are all murderers...(says the) Divine One: They are not to blame. It is the law of their nature...the Law of God."
After Adam and Eve's sin and the serpent enticing them:
"As you perceive, the only person responsible for the couple's offense escaped...in your country and mine we should have the privilege of making fun of this kind of morality, but it would be unkind to do it here...
"The best minds will tell you that when a man has begotten a child he is morally bound to tenderly care for it, protect it from hurt, shield it from disease, clothe it...never in any case inflict upon it a wanton cruelty. God's treatment of his earthly children, every day and every night, is the exact opposite of all that, yet those best minds warmly justify these crimes, condone them, excuse them, and indignantly refuse to regard them as crimes at all..
"God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden, and eventually asassinated them...But he did not stop there...He requires his children to deal justly--and gently--with offenders, and forgive them 70 and 7 times; whereas he deals neither justly nor gently with anyone, and he did not forgive the ignorant and thoughtless first pair of juveniles even their first small offense and say 'you may go free this time, I will give you another chance.'
"On the contrary! He elected to punish THEIR children, all thru the ages to the end of time, for a trifling offense committed by others before they were born. He is punishing them yet. In mild ways? No, in atrocious ones.
"You would not suppose that this kind of a Being gets many compliments. Undeceive yourself: the world calls him the All-Just, the All-Righteous, the All-Good, the All-Merciful...These sarcasms are uttered daily, all over the world. But not as conscious sarcasms. No, they are meant seriously: they are uttered without a smile."

jehovahs witnesses are lovely people, i should know - i officially still am one ... but ... although their great cult leader, judge joseph rutherford, banned them from taking part in the evil pagan celebrations of birthdays and such, there is one ceremony that is ridgedly and solemly adhered to.
the anual celebration of the "lords evening meal".
as most here are aware, each nissan14, kingdom halls around the world are packed to the collection boxes with the 'happiest people on earth'.
Simon,
Good point: if the NT is written only to the anointed, then that would include making disciples, etc.!

whilst reading the bible straight thru this last time (& probably is the last time) i noticed an odd thing.
i'll just throw it out on the table and see what it brings.. starting in the gospels, demons and demon-possession seem to be very common and no one seems shocked.
in fact, casting out demons is a definite part of the disciples'and jesus' work.. but, in the ot, there is nary a mention of demon possession, nor rarely a word about demons at all.
Sorry, there's no subject for the above topic, I tried to edit it twice and it didnt work. The topic is
Demons & Possession--New Teaching?
