Great tips all! Well, except for the wooden Indianans, lol.
Bikerchic, I'm going to have to try the Swifters. And my kitchen floor may get a new coat of wax this Friday!
Hugs to all,
Pat
so, do you have one outstanding "hint" that helps you everyday?
i do and i call it the "one thing only" (oto) philosophy.
i first put it together hearing a statement saying "never leave a room empty-handed" (mary lou henning?

i found this site yesterday and i thought i would share it with everyone.
you can find it here: www.skepticsannotatedbible.com.
it has everything from the bible, the quran, to the book of mormon.
Thanks Eljefe,
I've spent a lot of time at that site and think it's very helpful!

many jehovah's witnesses believe what they've been told about ex-witnesses.
they say that exjws simply want to live an immoral life.
they say that exjws cannot live up to "jehovah's standards".
Thanks Sirona, for another chance to explain!
Lol, at my age, that probably would be low down on the list of reasons to leave JWs! Well, at least for me.
The steps that led to my leaving:
Then I read a lot about the history of JWs also. It all was a house of cards. There's more people who leave for intellectual reasons than JWs would ever admit.
Thanks for the opportunity to state it.

yesterday i tuned into espn sports radio and listened to a semi-political debate on several issues.
when "same sex" marriage came up one of the talking heads refrained that "all marriages are same sex.
" you get married and have the "same sex" over and over again!
This reminds me (the original post by Carmel) of a joke I heard a while back:
My husband and I are having hallway sex.
What's that?
Oh, when we were first married, we had car sex, kitchen sex, anywhere we'd have sex.
Then after the kids came along, we had bedroom sex.
Now, we're planning a divorce, and when we see each other in the hallway, I say "**** you!" That's hallway sex.

Thanks Special K! That is really a very valid philosophy, imo.
Another one I have that I read in the Awake years ago is when you're upset, irritated, angry, etc. at a person, try to imagine how you'd feel if they had died. What you'd say at their funeral. Chances are you'd remember the better things about the person.

LotsReality, That's so true about the music. I usually try something lively when I'm cleaning house or exercising.
FrannieBanannie, not a bad idea.
Soledad, that sounds like an old JW'ism.

King of the Hill
Friends

But there's others I'd probably enjoy too. I'm like another poster--I always miss things!

evidently, according to my mother, her friend has all sorts of perfume allergies and has been attending meetings in the ladies room with a door open so as to hear the vital spiritual information.
anyway, the elders told her she could no longer sit in the stall.
now she's depressed and doesn't know what to do.
Well, that is a problem. In California, my area, one hall remodeled and when they did, they added a room just for chemical-sensitive people. Before that, they requested that only "people without scents" (lol, it sounded like "people without sins") sit in a certain area.
Another hall has a large library that anyone could sit in and that would be pretty scent free.
It seems pretty insensitive (pardon the pun) that anyone wouldn't recognize and assist people with that problem. Even at work, it's an issue that people can NOT wear perfumes around someone else with sensitivity. Of course, "worldly" people can be a lot more reasonable, lol.

Edited to add: Of course, the right answer is to get out of the cult!!!!

I do and I call it the "One Thing Only" (OTO) philosophy. I first put it together hearing a statement saying "Never leave a room empty-handed" (Mary Lou Henning? The woman from Taxi tv show). What she meant was take one thing and put it away in another room as long as you're going that way.
This evolved for me into a philosophy of a "lazy" approach to my goals. For example, I may not want to clean the whole garage, but I'll just go out there and move 1-2 items. Before you know it, momentum builds and every day you're doing several things, and in a month, it's done! I wall-papered two rooms, just about at 15 minutes per day most days. Or everytime I walk by a certain area, I pull "one weed," but usually more. In no time, the entire area is kept weed-free and I'm looking for a new area.
I motivated my grandkids to "just pick up 3 toys for now," and usually, but not always, it's a breeze. When I don't want to walk, I say "I don't have to walk, just put on my shoes and step out the door." And I mean it, if I don't feel like walking, I come back in, but usually I do.
It also stems from an article I read once entitled "Lesson of the Cliff." A man's son was stuck while hiking on a precarious cliff and petrified. The father said "Can you take just one step?" Then another, then another and the kid got down that way.
Also, it is daunting to think I'll write a book, but I can write a sentence, paragraph, notes, or a bit of an outline, or do some research for just 10-15 minutes.
Ben Franklin said 'The hardest part of any job is starting." (Or "A job well-begun is half-done.") The OTO way eases you into it, imo.
What about you? Do you have an all time favorite assistance you use continuously?
