It's obvious from your post you still care about them. Make the effort, adapting to circumstances as needed. If you don't you'll always regret it. And if it fails, you tried.

I saw an image of the sun like seen at sunset, only yellow, then a perfect image of Christ, black on a white background, framed by a darker square. It faded, came back, and then went black again before the frame expanded to cover my field of vision. What's the theory behind this? I thought at first it was another inkblot test. Interesting!

hi everyone,.
i just want to say that i am amazed at the wealth of knowledge on this site..i went to the meetings for about 25 yrs and i didnt know a lot of the stuff that you all mention on this site.........i just want to say well done to all those people that do know what they do.............for instance, i never ever knew about the questions changing for the baptism, i got dunked in 1979....and havent been going to the meetings for the last 10 yrs...

What am I feeling for her?
by Kingpawn inthis is going to be a little rambling but i hope it makes sense.
i won't use names out of privacy concerns, but it's as true as i can make it.. where i work, i've begun developing very strong feelings for a co-worker.
her shift and mine overlap for a few hours each day, and i see her when one of her duties brings her to my area of the plant (otherwise we work in separate areas).

If I haven't already built up an image of her in my mind it would be very easy for me to do that. I do plan to just drop a comment or smile every so often. As you said, if I do get to know her I may not like what I find. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Shera commented that "B" hasn't been coming on to me. That may be one of the biggest turn-ons of all. A woman who's too brassy or forward or aggressive repels me--B's been either neutral or ignoring me (a hint I'm not picking up on?). But if I really bothered her, I'd think she'd find a way to tell me personally (I work with her cousin and if he's right that she's just like him and the rest of the family--get her mad and all guns are brought to bear--she'd let me know) or it'd come to me through channels.
Anyway, I appreciated the responses from everyone.

by ozziepost ini recall posting about this topic almost two years ago, but i believe it's worth resurrecting for the interest of newer posters here.
i made the comment then that if you repeat something often enough, in time it becomes believed as "truth" itself.
my view hasn't changed in two years, but i notice that in a recent thread a well used teaching of the dubs was repeated on the board as if it were undisputed truth, like the reality of the sun rising each day.

Not only are the WBTS's waters drying up, they're actively bailing out the river via disfellowshipping.
If the figures of six million members, 1% df'ed yearly, and of those, sixty percent(?) being reinstated yearly, then 24,000 are being discarded yearly. That's something like twice the population of my town in the 1990 census. Assuming no new members, in 250 years they'll be extinct. But I doubt it'll take that long.

having had to make some public transport arrangements of late as the nsx is in the workshop enjoying a makeover and lube, i have been exposed to the wittings on walls, often found in public toilets.. today i found myself a guest at a train station cubicle on the way back from work.. as i sat on the ' throne ', i decided to make some note on the masonry wall, as to my state of mind at the time.
i wrote something to the effect..... ' and the daemon before vanishing uttered his last three words then fled.."god is dead ".

In the guy's room at my high school someone had inscribed some witticism on the wall, followed by a scathing, "A poet you're not, so quit writing such rot."
Feeling creative, I added, "Your words are true, I can't deny it, but as for his poetry, he'll always try it."

the basis of his recommendation was due to a very long friendship and not due to any association (that i do not have) with jehovahs witnesses.
he considers me his superior in intellect and wants an appraisal of this sight but to be honest i have neither the incliniation nor the time to get in deep enough to comment.

Yes in fatct my friend is a member of this forum and he is almost certainly here now. who he is is another question however.
And you're obviously not allowed to tell anyway.
He didn't want to tell me as he considers himself to be a keystone in the direction this forum takes and did not want to jeopardise his identity, he informs me that his identity is very wanted that being said you all could probably tell me who he is.
He didn't want to tell me-- so this person could be setting you up for a giant practical joke. If he hasn't told you his ID you have less gaurentee he actually posts here, unless he can prove it by other means. Assuming "he" exists.

It is funny but the reason he asked me along i am suspecting is because all of these things which you are now complaining about i predicted many years ago. And now he feels like saying you told me so.
We here are not "complaining" imo about the topics I mentioned. Complainers whine and bellyache because they like to gripe but don't really expect anything will be done about it--in which case why gripe? We document past and present abuses in the hope (again, imo) that from awareness comes pressure on the WBTS to stop these things and own up to past mistakes. Otherwise why bother?
If you did in fact predict these things, and IF you're a JW, why did you stay in? By doing so you (and he, if he's a dub) opened yourselves up to charges of becoming accomplices to the shady and sometimes ILLEGAL activities (ex.: failure to notify authorities of child-abuse allegations when require d to do so by state law) if you knew about them, could have stopped them, and did nothing. It's no different than if I held an accounting-related job and was asked to participate in or look the other way concerning illegalities being done by management. If the firm's officers are later indicted, can I blame others for considering me a willing partner in the crimes?
What has his wanting to say "you told me so" got to do with you being here? I don't see a connection. Explain please.

First off, the others have been put off by a certain smugness that comes across in your words. I caught it too but anyway....
Since I don't know what topics you consider would be a good cross-section of the board, try searching (link is above to the left of the forum name) using the following keywords:
- Disfellowshipping or shunning
- UN
- SilentLambs or pedophilia
- Blood
- Failed prophecies
- Mexico/Malawi
The thing is, if you're not familiar with the doctrines and background of the Witnesses, much of it may not make a lot of sense--you won't be able to relate to it like someone who has been/is a JW. Drop me a line (e-mail addy's above the pic on the left hand side of the post) and tell me something about yourself so I recognize it's you and can better answer your questions.

Well! I can understand their disdain for higher education, and wanting to know all about a person's sex life, and brushing off their history of false prophecies--but not liking chess!? That's it, that's it, now I'm really mad!
(Especially with my moniker!)
I'd love to hear why, but I think underneath the fog it would be something like: promotes independent thinking, time could be better spent selling, sees things in black and white, pawn promotion makes one lust after a higher position or salary in life (outside of the Society that's wrong, but inside--are you kidding, Bill?).
