my handle: mindchild comes from computer scientist and futurist dr. hans moravec: who wrote the book, the future of robot and human intelligence which is a book about when we will be able to construct machines capable of human intelligence and raises the possibility of uploading ourselves (every thought we ever had) into an android body much superior to the human ones we have now.
i entertain the hope that not only will i live long enough to see this happen, i will transfer myself (the complete essence of what is me) into a body of my own choosing and become immortal if i so choose.

NY Times photographer arrested at ground zero

"NEW YORK, Jan. 12 – A photographer from The New York Times was arrested at ground zero and charged with criminal trespass, police said.
Edward Keating was arrested Friday evening. Police said he was in the north pit and was seen taking photographs of rescue workers removing victim remains.
Keating had no prior approval to be in the area, and his press card had expired, said Michael O'Looney, deputy commissioner of public information for the NYPD.The photographer also had a pass that allowed only legitimate workers to be in the area, and authorities were investigating how he got it, O'Looney said.
Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis said the matter was being looked into. She said Keating had been at ground zero on prior occasions.
Keating was given a desk-appearance ticket and released, police said."
I wanted to post this to keep proving my point of how NOONE IS ALLOWED INTO GZ!! So please do not believe the experiences going around of Jws preaching to the workers on the debris field.

Corruption within the elder ranks!
by JohnSteadman ini have been serving as a presiding overseer in the united kingdom for over 20 years, in my time i have seen the organisation develop and grow both spiritually and financially.
i have seen elders come and go but more so than any other time i have witnessed lies and cover ups from elders, co's, bethel members which have caused me great upset.
i do not wish to go into any details but would like to warn people of the dishonesty that has become jehovah's organisation.

Welcome John,
ALtough most of us here are aware of the corruption in the WT we would like to hear your detailed experiences.
There are many former elders and P.O.s here who would no doubt fell better knowing that others are going through the same and might be able to help.
If you do not want to give your experiences yet as a P.O. at least start making copies of the letters in your files that prove your case.
If not sometime in the future you can be accused of Apostacy and have nothing to defend yourself with.

is a certified citrus fruit shipper for florida orange growers.. now this is not illegal at all but does the average rank and file know this, they were inc. in 1986 i was active at that time, there was never any mention of this activity to my knowledge.. this is what gets me...how in the world can the wtbts do things like this and nobody ever finds out about it through the society.. please clue me in!!

From what I understood, years ago when the WT use to have food at the District conventions, it was cheaper for them to haul their own fruit across the Canadian and Mexican border.
But in order to do that they had to be registered as a certified hauler.
Today however I don't know the reason why they would continue unless for the obvious reason of not wanting to give up the $$ that it brings into their cause.

Who is the President of the WTS?

everyone knows about russell, rutherford, knorr and franz.
most know about henschel but i haven't come across any that know the name of the current pres.. i believe it's don adams - and he doesn't even claim to be one of the "remnant"!

No Erich, Its a sign that they are trying to sheild themselves from any possible lawsuits.
Think about it, if you want to sue the WT for allowing your little brother to die because of its stupid rules on blood, who would you sue now?
All these corporations will claim that they handle different tasks unrelated to that. By the time you're able to pin someone down, they would have created a new corp. with new leaders.

Global Stop on all Kingdom Hall Building Work!
by Ivor Hope ini have heard today from 2 different sources that the wts has announced a global stop on all building work.
kingdom halls already being built are having the work on them stopped.. has anybody else heard this?
if it is true, what could be the reason.

Tomorrow is D-day
by Danni inokay people i am going to the jehovah's witnesses congregation to talk with the preist or elders.
i have over a dozen questions to ask them, they are short and to the point.
if anyone want to give any last minute advice i am listening.

Working with JWs
by Ivor Hope inhas anyone out there had experience of working for or with jws?.
is it just me, or are they the worst people to work with....they "use" anybody for their own ends, they expect everyone else to make allowances for their life style but are not prepared to make allowances for anyone else's, they do as little as they can for as long as they can and have absolutely no loyalty to their employers or fellow workers!!.
my recent experience is that they also will be "economical" with the truth (the real truth), as long as it benefits them.. maybe i'm a bit biased, but i would never want to work with or for another witness ever again!

I've never worked with Jws but my sister has and because of it she actually quit her job and went to work elswhere.
My sister worked at on of the area hospital in the administration offices. Behind her sat who she described as a "fanatical sister".
My sis tried to keep the fact that she was a witness from her but apparently the Jw found out and made her life a living hell.
This fanatic would talk (counsel what she called it) my sister at the top of her lungs saying things like : " you have to go back to Jehovah, he is the only salvation that you have...do want to die forever?...; When are you going to the meetings?...In John 3:16 it says......"etc.
Point is she would use every waking moment that she had to preach to my sister in a fanatical tone even yelling when my sis would bring up certain issues regarding the WT. My sis said that the Jw lady would even break into a sweat she would talk so loud for so long.
Everyone in the office would just look at them like if both were to blame for the daily scenes. So after about 4 years there she got another job and got the hell away from there.
