Tylinbrando: " If you don't want to be outed, stay off Facebook"
What!??!!
good afternoon jwn... .
i`ve spent the morning and part of my afternoon... getting to the bottom of... why names were added to the awaa fan page... it`s a dangerous thing to happen in our world... faders can be outed,we can lose,family,friends... the results can be an absolute disaster... .

I've got a group on FB, just a small group of friends who like the same singer. I started it as a closed group (group name and members can be seen) to secret group. Anyone within that group can add anyone they like. They press a button and hey presto! friends are added (without their permission) I thought it would send a request to them that they could either accept or reject but no, they were just automatically added. Fortunately for me everyone who was added was happy about it.
AAWA is different. It's an acitivist group and membership (especially if it's open or closed) could cause untold damage. Even if it's secret now, the damage could already have been done.
It didn't have to be only one person who added lots of people, anyone within the group could have done it.
Please, anyone thinking of starting a group like this, be very very careful about who you add. You could be messing with people's lives!

I just recently found out that if someone changes a personal profile page into a 'fan' page then all the friends from his previous personal page will be automatically added as liking the new fan page.
I think it's good for everyone to be aware of security loopholes in FB.... they seem to be all over the place!
i can relate to what you're going through because i'm still in the "witness protection program" so to speak, due to family etc.. i would just like to make some recommendations/suggestions to help you with damage control because i hate knowing that you are having to face this in your lives at this time in addition to whatever else you're currently dealing with.. to me it is imperative that you take a proactive/preemptive stance in being able to get through this realtively unscathed if possible.. and it can be done.. first post on your wall on fb that you found out the hardway that facebooks privacy and security settings leave a lot to be desired.. let your friends/family know that you were not aware that others, without your knowledge or consent could add you to many groups out there whether you wanted to or not.. make sure not to name this particular "association or organization" in your message so as not to draw even more undue attention to you or/and it.. this way it further distances you to any perceived ties they may have that linked you with it.
by not using the name it also shows that there are others groups you may have been added to without permission not just this one.
that way it is all inclusive and it will help in your defense to draw attention away from what that one's main focus is.. then you can finish up by stating that you have taken steps to remove your name from this group as well as any others that someone may have added your name to without your knowledge.. you may also want to add that if anyone see's where your name has been added to a group that they would find hard to believe that you would join, to please send you a pm since everything doesn't show up on your personal wall and you may have no knowledge of it.. this is only my suggestions and you can use it to your advantage if so desire.
Thanks Stonewall... really appreciate your suggestions. Although it hasn't happened to me (yet) it is something I'm really scared of happening to me.
I don't blame the AAWA but I do know how slack the FB privacy settings can be. It's something for everyone to be aware of!

I read an article the other day about two young gay people who hadn't let their fathers know about their sexual orientation. They joined a local choir specifically for gays and unbeknownst to them were added to the choir's FB group page. The setting was 'open'. This means anyone joining the group can be seen on it and all the postings on that group page can be seen by all. Their fathers saw it and went ballistic over it. They haven't spoken to them since. It completely broke their relationships with their fathers. These youngsters should have been able to choose thier own time and place for their fathers to find out. As it was the FB settings did it for them. If the group had been set as a 'secret group' no one outside the group could have seen it. Also no one is informed or requested if they'd like to join, anyone can choose to add someone else (whether they like it or not). It seems to be a privacy invasion that not many people know about and there's not much you can do if someone decides to add you to a group. You can leave the group but by then the damage may already be done.
been doing a bit of research trying to tie in together a few different strands.. not too sure what happened to christianity and how organised religion took hold again after the apostles died off.. i know jerusalem was sacked 70 ce.
but lots to fill in from that point onwards to bring us to where we are today.. if a few peeps could help to condense and simplify the info down into a few bite size pieces it would give us a starting point to begin to re-educate ourselves to the truth.
and fill in the blanks.
An interesting website I came across
i've read a number of posts in the past about ones being disturbed as to whether they can be traced by anyone.
it can be worrying to think that our anonimity can be uncovered.
for anyone concerned about these things i've found some good tools to prevent you being followed around the internet.. disconnect.me.
Btt for anyone that might be interested. :)
to all jehovah's witnesses, here is an easy question you can answer... when did jesus begin ruling as king?.
watch tower answers:.
following his resurrection, jesus ascended to heaven and waited at gods right hand until 1914 to begin ruling as king.
DR.. you may not post very often but everything you write is very thought provoking! Thanks.

Donottrackme (from abine.com)
Duckduckgo (a search engine that doesn't collect, store or share your data)
These together with Adblocks help a lot.
If you add disconnect.me you can also add Collusion for Chrome (on the Chrome browser) and it will show you all the sites trying to track you.
was wondering what modern day christians take is on the slaughter of hundreds of thousands perhaps millons, on his god directed journey to the promised land.???.
.
amo.
For a long time this had bothered me and I have always wanted to know the answers. As a christian I obviously follow Christ and he taught love, mercy. kindness, compassion and forgiveness. It didn't seem to add up but I would tell myself that God is also a God of justice. What if there are things that we have read into the scriptures that weren't there. Or misinterpreted what is said or not understood anything about the times the people lived in and what it was actually like.
Anyway, I read these articles, extremely long but very imformative and made a lot of sense. Maybe those that have no love for God or don't believe he exists it will make no difference but for other christians and some who still believe there is a loving God then they are worth reading.
