Mark Sanderson - Why Is the Newest GB Member Suddenly So Prominent?
by Oubliette ini've noticed something that is very odd even by wt/gb standards.
why is mark sanderson suddenly so prominent in all things wt/jw?.
others have commented on the obvious narcissism of the gb pushing themselves to the fore recently, in particular after their huge doctrinal change at proclaiming themselves and only themselves as the faithful and discreet slave.. this is clearly true as evidenced at the agm, not only throughout the agm, but also in the video that was featured as part of that meeting.

TIME TO KEEP QUIET
by The Searcher inwhen people stick their fingers in their ears and start singing 'la la la la la la' very loudly, (figuratively speaking) we have to take the hint that the person (for whatever reason) doesn't want to hear what you're trying to discuss with them.
it's incredibly frustrating when you know that they really need to hear what you've got to say.
it's like trying to get your neighbour to look at the puddle of brake fluid under their car - they hear you, but they don't look!.

My problem at the moment is trying not to answer questions. There are some (family and close friends) that know I have my doubts and want to know what it it I'm questioning. I say I don't want to say anything because I know how it could shake the way they feel about things. But still they ask and still want to know. I just drop one or two little things, things that won't rock the boat too much but still makes them think. It's a tricky balance to keep!

I only read my bible now and if I want to understand some things in it then I look up different bible commentaries online. WT, I just flick through to see if I'm able to stomach it or not at the next meeting. If not, I don't go. I miss almost all mid week meetings. I never comment. I follow along in the WT in a foreign language that I'm learning, it makes it more interesting and the time goes faster.

TOUCHED BY AN APOSTATE, ONE YEAR AFTER EATING THE RED PILL.
by AuntConnie intouched by an apostate.
i cant decide if i want to curse or hug and kiss all the friends on jwn for giving me a bite of the red pill and allowing me the clarity i never had growing up.
we were raised one hundred-percent cult and our family obeyed all the rules that we could, some rules from the cult my mother refused to obey for a greater-good, like humanity, helping disfellowshiped ex-jws who were poor or depressed, she did not follow the cult's code of treating weak or mentally ill people like shit.

Wow! Aunt Connie... I always knew there was an 'apostate' struggling to get out!
I'm sure you have a long road ahead of you and a long struggle but I'm sure the freedom you will finally feel will be totally worth it! I really hope too that you can regain a relationship with your parents. They sound like good genuine people.

A House Divided Against Itself Falls-Luke 11:17
by Stand for Pure Worship inthat text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.
second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.
you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.

It's not about having a stopwatch or petting a panda. Yes, Armageddon hasn't come as they promised.
It's a case of not believing something someone says anymore because they have been wrong, time and time and time again. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf story?
How about Luke 21:8, have you ever REALLY read it?
"He said: Look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The due time has approached'. Do not go after them."
Did you know the society had a book called 'The Time is at Hand' and another one called 'God's Kingdom of a Thousand Years Has Approached'. (I remember us studying that one in the book study back in the '70's.
What about the campaign in the '20's called 'Millions now living will never die'.... well guess what? They're all dead. What about 'the generation that saw 1914 will not pass away'. Well, guess what? They're all dead.
Jesus words...... DO NOT GO AFTER THEM! It is quite clear to me.... and I will obey Christ over men any time!!
How about you SFPW? Will you obey men... or Christ Jesus?

Disfellowshipping
by Legacy ini wanted to know if anyone on here was df'd or know of any who were...why i ask is because many of the friends i have spoken to, say it's not done, just like that.
it's a process.
i have spoken to a re-instated sister and she said by the time they see you, you are pretty much out.

@SFPW... I've been a JW all my life, all 50+ years of it. It's not been bad, most of it I can say I've been happy. Why would I throw all that away if I felt everything was right?
I have had lots of questions, questions that not only couldn't be answered but questions that can't even be asked. Why is that? Why can't I go to the elders and ask them lots of questions? What would happen to me if I did? I'm afraid to ask.
Here, I can ask what I want! I can share ideas and opinions, I can argue, debate (if I want). I'm not afraid of what will happen to me if I do. People get hurt, they come here and vent their feelings. Everybody understands. They've all been there in one way or another.
Many of us are here anonymously, afraid of being caught. Why is that, in a free world with free speech? You are here anonymously... you must be afraid too? Otherwise you would give your name and your photo.
You say there's no love or unity here. I beg to differ. I follwed one story of a man who was suicidal after a harrowing event. He was tracked down by members on this site and given real life help and support not just a few days but for months. I've read similar stories too. Just because everyone on here disagrees with each other on lots of things doesn't stop the unity we feel that we've all come from the same place and we understand the hurt and the pain involved emotionally and the very real support that can be a life line for many.
