Greetings from Candace Conti
by AndersonsInfo incandace asked me to tell you thank you for all your kind expressions of support.
this really means a lot to her.
she wants you to know that she is coping well with all the stress and excitement, even though she's had years of anger and frustration because of being abused for so long, first by the molester, and then by the wt.

Any more fond (not so) DC memories?
by outsmartthesystem inmy oldest child was barely 4 months old and not an easy baby.
she cried all the time....and getting her to sleep during the day was a pain.....especially in a facility that was 80 degrees with a/c.
on sunday afternoon of the dc....knowing we had a two hour drive home (she also didn't sleep in the car well).....i went to an "off limits" area with her.

Don't know whether I can call this a fond memory or not but it was certainly an experience. As a small child at a DC in Edinburgh. We camped in a huge campsite. It was freezing cold, a canvas tent and hard camp beds with army blankets. A bucket to wee in and a bowl to wash. It was a long trek to the wash block. The assemblies then lasted 5 days, morning, afternoon and evening sessions divided by dinner break and tea break where you stood in long queues for hours and ended up with stew, mash potato, mushy peas and stewed prunes and custard. I was too small to stand up at the long trestle tables that the grown ups could, so sat underneath the table on the grass (it was all in huge marquees)...... ahhh them were the days! LOL

A heart-wrenching comment from the JW survey...
by cedars ini've just received this comment from a country in the south china sea.
i'd rather not be more specific than that.. the english is poor, but the message is heart-wrenching.
any who question whether ordinary publishers wrestle with doubts need only read this message.

He loves Jehovah, he loves Jesus Christ. He has lost his faith in the GB. Like so many of us. Cedars you are a very articulate man and you have written some very upbuilding and encouraging pieces. Here is someone who has given their life to what they thought was their God only to find out it's been given to an organisation. Now they are discovering the truth. I'm sure you will find the right words to say. I understand about your father, the same thing has happened for me and my mother. It's a very hard position to be in. Wish you all the best!

Why Do Introvert Elders Even Bother, What's Their Game?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis insomething that has troubled me for some time, why do introvert personalities reach out for the office of overseer?.
this personality does not help with shepherding the flock (other brothers pick up their slack, their too shy for judicial committes), they are not upbuidling for the brothers and sisters (their long lost stuttering problem resurfaces when asked to call m.i.a.
congregation memebers) and they are useless for widows and orphans (i can't help little father-less davie, my online role playing games are all time consuming!

I don't think being an introvert means being a bad elder. My husband is an introvert but he's one of the best. Always there, reliable, caring, responsible. The one everybody wants to go to because he's non judgemental and reasonable and genuinely cares about the brothers and sisters. You can't bag everyone up under a label like that.

I remember John Blaney when I was a kid. He used to sit on the steps of the platform after the meeting with a huge bag of sweets for all the kids. We loved him! LOL

Blantant coitridiction in todays wt
by elderelite inthis isnt news worthy of course, but i thought i would point it out anyway... apologies to blondie, i dont see the normal wt thread yet.... .
para 2 states that "the other sheep should never forget their salvation depends on their active support of christs anointed "brothers" [gb] still on earth".
para 13 says "he [peter] pointed out that their hope is not founded on their works, but on [the deserts gods] undeserved kindness".

If you were a Witness, when did you realize the Governing Body was apostate?
by matt2414 infor more than 30 years i believed everything that came from the watchtower society, especially since i lived at bethel for a while and i knew a lot of the gb members, who to me seemed intelligent and personable.
at the beginning, the emphasis was on the bible, the kingdom, jehovah and jesus.
but gradually over time, there would appear an elephant in the room that no one seemed to talk about, such as the change in the understanding of "generation.

Before I read CoC I believed that although there were things I couldn't agree with, I still believed they were being used by God. 3 days later after having read CoC I no longer did.
