The Watchtower has become full on email spam but in real life. I live in NYC so I get extremely annoyed when I see their stands in front of the train I take every morning to work, then in the subway when I transferring, in my neighborhood, at the new mall they just opened up by me and now on tv? I can't believe idiots fall for this when the organization has come to this.

JW's and depression
by FeelingFree ini was wondering how many of you suffered badly with depression when you were in "the truth" and if you feel your depression was related to being part of the organisation?
are you better now you have left or still have issue's?
whatever your experience's i would be very intrested to know (if you feel you can talk about it.).

I wasn't born in. I started studying at age 17 by myself, attended all the meetings and got baptized at 18. But I did have depression and soon after I started studying, I had a friend save me from ending it all. I never put the two occurences together, until after I found myself questioning. These meetings had me feeling maniplulated and oppressed but we was tricked by always being told that that we were "happy people" so I always questioned why I was so depressed. I assumed it was satan's world. Then after I left, I had to do a lot of work but I think nowadays, I feel much better about my life. I can't wait to go to work and have my career ahead of me to build up as opposed to being told that everything around me is futile.

" Do not ask permission, just play the video--" service meeting instructions.
by prologos inthis statement startled me out of the pleasant mental absence during this week's "service" meeting.. pushing the org.
explanation: "the listener has time to interrupt, if they want--" .
together with an incredible boring "study" of an hand held device, or it's stored content, i will be a totally new crop of orgies at the halls,.

When I first started going out in service, one of the elders would tell me not to call the household if they're going back to a return visit; "It gives them time to make up an excuse for us to not go"

Governing Body Signing the New Bibles?
by What Now? inmy husband said that this was mentioned in a video he watched?
i can't seem to find anything.
can anyone confirm this?

It's funny when I was in, you were never allowed to brag about how humble you were. Yet the watchtower rags will praise the governing body and the rank and files think that so much attention is given to them because the fault lies in the rank and files themselves. GB signing autographs is so ass backwards, I wonder how anybody doesn't think about it.

JW Psychology: Feeling Happy, Content and Secured Inside. But Outside?
by ProfCNJ ini am comparing what an average jw feels (who knows nothing about ttatt) to another jw who knows the ttatt.
let's label the first jw as jw-a and the other jw-b.
please feel free to share your thoughts.. it's normal for positive emotions to rise (e.g.

JW's Amargeddon solution is the same when people say "Let's just bomb them back to the stone age" solution when it comes to war. It's esstentially the same isn't it?

Heavy metal
by Godsendconspirator ini have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

But I recently started coming back to this type of music and I've forgotten how much I loved it and how happy it makes me feel.
I wanna see I have any other heavy metal fans or people's opinion of it. I've got Pantera playing right now :) -

Have you had a crisis of concience?
by new hope and happiness inmy little boy has decided he wants to be a vegetarian and has been for over a year now.
i fully accepted and supported this.. my view however is no matter what you eat or how you eat it ....beings will die for you to eat.. i have noticed where we live we have the terms " free range" and " ecological".
if affordable i am sure most peoples preferrd option for their own health and the conditions of the animals.. i would say everyone has the right to eat what they want within reason.

I remember when I first started studying I had to force myself to read those 5 chapters a day. It was easier when I had a new album that I wanted to listen to. I'd put it on and read. But the old testament pissed me off the most. I remember thinking about how every single chapter is the Isaelites being stupid or measurements. Information that was practically useless.

Would you go to church?
by Coded Logic ini have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

I grew up Catholic so I've been there. The atmosphere is much more relaxed in the church unlike the Kingdom Hall. I liked going to church as a child. And as a teenager it was a nice place to just go when you had things on your mind and wanted to pray but you didn't want to be alone. I started studying at age 16 when I was craving more information. After I left, I went to a church my friend invited me to. Lots of singing and music, much different from the previous two.
