  CO visit; going to meeting.

  hello everyone!just a little background info, i haven't been to a meeting in over a year.

  my wife has asked me to go with her tonight to help watch our son since it's the circuit overseers visit...my wife wants to be able to pay attention and get something out of the meeting since our son is 1yr old he can be a handful some times.. a few things of note about the situation:.

  - i'm going to the meeting no matter what.

  @SG089: I remembered when I first heard this recording, which I loved the way you handled it, I couldn't believe what the elder said at the end how more important turning your time in is in comparison to sin... was shocked... but did you stop reporting your time after this discussion with them?

  Anyway, I like how one eyed joe put it: i would do them same "we miss you" " oh really?, because I didn't get a call or text" .. . Just classic, i will use that next time myself....

  "Are you coming back?" = No, I am just here to help my wife & babysit my 1 year old today...

  JW mother wants to send her son to a mental institute for being atheist & wanting to go to college

  i am not sure if this was posted before.

  i am the mother of an 10 year old and i would have never treated my son like this for wanting to go to college, believes in evolution & is an atheist...i am disgusted how this jw mother can't see how her son has the freedom of thought or religion.... this poor kid most likely does not do drugs or is in a street gang, he just wants to go to college for crying out loud.... this is insane, just shows how a religion or organization blinds all logic from you... it's a cult..... i know there are many cult jws parents out there who would do this, its insane and disgusting.... where is the love you say you should have towards your children?

  hi, for over a year, i stopped attending meeting and field service.

  actually, passively disassociated from the congregation.

  but i did not stop reading and doing my own research.

  I agree too, since my awakening & fading I donate more to charities & when I see homeless people asking for money I give them & leave it on their conscious as to what they want to spend on...

  My coworkers have said I looked less stress & anxious, I actually engage in their conversations alot more & don't judge them or what they do in their lives, not my business. ..

  Is zeal beginning to vanish?

  it has to be starting to fade somehow.

  the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.

  maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

  I do believe many JWs are just burned out & the schedule is soo perfunctory that it gets soo exhausting.... there were many times by the end of the service mtg we would have rainy days debate whether to go out D2D or not people start talking having hot coco & coffee, that is the time i would see them get all happy for just associating.... & especially cuz D2D was cancel no one would say it's canceled but it was implied.... I'm soo glad I don't do any of that anymore

  What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment

  there is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.

  if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.

  when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

  Last straw? I concur with many that it was many straws but the one that did it was how they treated Ray Franz & Ed Dunlap & many of bros being thrown out to the "world" from Bethel worse than dogs... then the horror stories from many being shun by their families for just walking away from the WT ( I don't have family in JWs so it never affected me personally) but watching & hearing videos of heartbreaking parents, children, sisters, brothers, etc of being shun angers me ..., I also felt disgusted what this organization has done to many children victims of child sexual abuse, not reporting it to authorities, that's a huge no no for me, then when elders & Jeffrey Jackson was asked in the ARC, if he had watched the trial or read the victims statements & said no... i saw how evil & arrogant they are & they don't care about our children...

  or, just sit back and watch the show and the trick affects if you want.. or like the uk guardian you could see the movie in terms of dysfunction (personal and family).. quote: the original movies were always based on the most extraordinary nexus of personal and family dysfunction: a motor of guilt, shame and conflict.

  Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book

  congregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.

  i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.

  the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

  I also believe that in the future they will stop offering the WT library that has WT all the way to 1960s, it's too much exposure to researching all the fail prophecies in 1975... so get them while you still can.... not printing "spiritual food" at the proper time so they fed us junk food??!!!!
