Good news to report: Congregations merged because lack of attendance, publishers & field service
by Khaleesi inso it's official, i am happy to report that we merged with another congregation having the same problem.
why is it good news???
because people are either waking up, fading or just not buying into this organization any longer or walking away.... i think many young ones are just not buying into it as much, i see many in the congregation i go to very depressed and some i know personally going thru major depression especially the young "sisters" in their early 20s.... .

@ NeverNew: We are about 72-76 publishers and merged with a congregation ( I believe they split it in two, half of it going to ours the other half going to another congregation) with 35-40 publishers. -

Why is this significant, because it is a Spanish congregation in a high metropolitan area where it is almost the primary language other than English... many years we were hearing the significant growth in the "Spanish" language congregations and many had to be split in two congregations because of the high attendance and publishers in them. I come from one where it was split and formed 2 separate congregations. I also can attest that many english congregations had to move out some KH's because the Spanish was outnumbering the English congregations.... I know of another 2 congregations that had to merge this year too with the same problem....
I want to know if any other people on this forum has heard something similar or experience anything like this.....

What shocking stories did you ever hear about?
by Truthexplorer inas a pre-awakened ms, i heard of 2 stories that i found very shocking at the time.
please keep in mind, i was following wt blindly at the time and was part of what i thought was the true religion.
the first shocking story was when i attended a large meeting for elders and ministerial servants covering our circuit.

At one convention many years ago, since it was held in a well known city arena where a huge gay parade is celebrated, in socal...anyway during the 3 day convention some young "brothers" went to another part of the arena, i believe it was around the performing arts center, it's all connected... they destroyed a stage for one of the gay parades event...the convention coordinator committe had to repair it & rebuild it.... it was insane parents didn't care where their kids were & an announcement was made to parents, I'm talking 15-17 yrs .... WT almost lost the whole venue to host them -

Don't meet with them, just tell them right now is not a good time & when it is YOU will let them know, say you are having anxiety problems being among big crowds & at this time you need your privacy & appreciate their concern..... DO NOT MEET WITH THEM....they are trying to fill you out no matter what!!! -

Books I read when I deprogrammed
by OrphanCrow inblondie suggested someone start a thread with a list of books that are valuable to read when exiting the jws.. i will start.. i left the jws way back in the early 70s and didn't actually deprogram until into the 80s.. one of the first books i read was "the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses" by gary and heather botting.
canadian exjws from calagary.
an excellent book and one that still resonates with young people today.

I also have had many Dejavu moments & experiences til this day, at least 2xs a month or more often at times, it's strange, I do not know what it means but there are many people who do not have them.... i also have a strong German connection & also a Greek fascination, more into Greek mythology, i visited Greece a few years ago & just felt I've been there before, i knew my way around the Athens, Santorini, Rhodas, etc.... now you got me wondering

Who can you trust to admit you have doubts?
by MrMonroe in(that is, doubts).
in margaret atwood's "the handmaid's tale", a futuristic story of life inside a repressive, abusive big brother-style society tightly controlled by religious fundamentalists, there's a passage in which the protagonist is alone with another woman at a state-controlled centre where prayers are generated -- then printed out and read out -- by a machine.
the other woman asks, in barely more than a whisper, "do you think god listens to these machines?

Great post..
It's really hard i don't think you can trust anyone, even the ones who you believe are very smart & intelligent....they want to remain blind unless they see it for themselves. ...
Recently I asked a old timer JW, he, was an elder, if he had an older publication book (he always kept an extensive library if old WT books been a JW for over 45 years & is 2nd generation JW), his response? "Be careful of apostates they twist things in the older publications that we don't believe in anymore".... i backed off, obviously he is not trustworthy to discuss my doubts too & many are like that in JW land... you know by their responses & be careful

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?
by stuckinarut2 init's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.
