To those who attended, attendance up or down at your memorial?
by Crazyguy ininteresting to see if there's a noticeable trend in memorial attendance.
also did they talk more then usual about ones not to partake?

They clapped after the talk.... not sure about attendence I went to a different one because it was earlier than mine, but I did notice vacant chairs & i walked in during the song, no problem finding a seat -

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted
by steve2 inwell on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

I attended in California UsA, didn't see any partakers. One thing I did notice though about the attendance, i go to the spanish congregation, I came in right at the song & they had plenty of chairs where I sat 3 rows from the front at the KH.... attendance is not what it used to be in the spanish....they did not read the scripture of partaking unworthingly of the bread & wine!, I thought it was odd...
They did say faith needs works, going to meetings, being with God's people, aka Jws, will earn ur way to posible salvation... Also during the 1st prayer they said "Jehovah God" 11 times!!

I've been debating too if I should go, i am not attending my own congregations memorial, too far & too late, my son has school the next day.... but I do want to partake since it's a different congregation they don't know me they would just think I'm wordly, heck I'll let my son partake too -

Memorial mixed emotions...
by Tornintwo indoes anyone else feel 'pulled back in' at this time of year?.
i still consider myself to a believer, believe in god and jesus christ, on the whole i think he taught tolerance, love, acceptance and i think we can benefit from following his example.
i love ray franzs book in search of christian freedom.

I'm debating to go to, i don't feel comfortable being part of a "black mass" & rejecting Jesus by not partaking! -

Question for those still attending the Kingdom Hall
by ToesUp inthis a question more out of curiosity, because we have not stepped foot in a kh in 3 years.. how is the attendance at the meetings/assemblies?
i know the answer will vary due to location.. are you (especially elders) receiving any notification or communication from bethel or co's that there is an upsurge of people that are simply disappearing or out right dis associating?.
thanks, in advance, for your feedback!

This past summer convention we usually had attendance of 13k+, last year it was 8k, not sure if it was due to people sent elsewhere but it was very noticeable, only a limited english Regional conventions at this location I believe only 4-5 weekends, past would be 8-10 weekends -

Assemblies - Before and After Waking Up
by Funchback inhappy friday to all!.
i haven't been to a meeting for maybe 10 years.
i only know what's happening nowadays from the experiences i read here or the internet in general.. anyway, on to the topic: i started attending meetings at the age of 7. as a kid, the only thing i looked forward to at the assemblies (circuit/district) was walking around veteran's stadium (philadelphia district convention) during intermission, hanging with friends, looking at girls (as i got a little older) and trying to have enough tickets to get pizza!.

I hated the fact that as a married couple you couldn't display open natural human affection at assemblies, no hugging, no cuddling, or peck kissing or cheek kissing with your spouse, if you did the attendants would come up to you & say you were a distraction... this happened on a couple of occasions, we told them to mind their own business! -

Disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas?
by Theburstbubble ini could really do with some advice on what's acceptable when you leave.
we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.
we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!
-
Khaleesi
Yes that is correct, they view it as a form of apostasy... not sure about time frames... -

My son's and I's first Valentines Day, Friendship day celebration since our awakening!!
by Khaleesi inso this weekend will be my first time celebrating friendship day since stop celebrating due to being a jw for years.
the most exciting part for me and makes me very happy is finally to have my son participate and be involved in normal activities at school with classmates.
no longer will i allow him to be ostracized at school due to the wt "cult's" ridiculous reasoning why some things are not okay to participate while others are okay.
