  I used to when I believed the JW horse shit. When I was a kid my mother always talked about "demon attacks" because of my music collection or some such shit

  why the hell would demons attack my mother becasue of my Nirvana CD?

  of course I experienced an episode of sleep paralysis and thought it was Satan. then I read a book other than a watchtower magazine and now I am not scared of demons, Jehovah or the WTS.

  funny how I was scared of demons but it was Jehovah that was gonna kill me for touching myself. I'll bet those demons would have been nice about that sort of thing......

  How Do JWs View Gluttony?

  this thread is dedicated to the judgemental fat and not so jolly elders and elderettes (non judgemental loving brethren, please disregard!)..

  in my county, some of our appointed brothers and sisters are suffering from obesity, eating disorders and heavy drinkings.

  what is the best way to approach brothers in charge, who are morbidly overweight, don't care about their physical appearance?

  i asked a couple elders once if one could be DF'd for gluttony. They hummed and hawed and then nodded yes.

  I then asked them if they would like to be on that committee... lol - of course neither wanted to be!

  I was once told by a sister she was glad I was at her 'get-together' because a sister's UBH was coming and he thinks all JW's are fat and out of shape. Well since I am not waiting for Armageddon to save me from my impending high cholesterol heart attack, I take good care of myself.

  Little did she know that all the JW's in that room WERE fat and out of shape since I am actually an apostate.

  i am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses(well mentally that is)---however i am a christian...i recently started reading different translations from www.biblegateway.com...jesus is so different to how the jw's teach....and god...i mean, i still am learning and confused about certain things but i am in love with them.... it's obvious that the jw's are not an organization of god.i don't think god is working through an organization but through individuals...however i am going to speak to an elder tomorrow about my issues---all of them---and i'm going to tell him everything--what i've been reading,where i got it from---everything!!

  i'm not hiding anything!

  i have done no wrong....i just want to be a true christian and if they disfellowship me for seeking answers then this is not where i need to be.

  congratulations!!!!!

  but be warned, even if you were convinced by their answers you will be disciplined, so not being convinced you will be DF'd - but that isn't exactly a bad thing for you.

  I love your conviction, you only began here a few months ago and you have completely opened your eyes!

  ive always viewed the option to write a letter as less of an appeal to 'fairness' and more of humble test for those disciplined.

  basically along the lines as what Billy said. they are beating you into submission - the BOE doing may not directly realize that this is the case (since they are brainwashed) but that is what the WTS knows they are doing and why they do it.

  if you accept your discipline you are humble, if you write a letter then your not humble. Simple

  I am still viewed as a JW but am mentally out and I talk to DF'd people all the time without giving it a 2nd thought. But to JW's this is like murdering babies! I can't believe that a human being could think that is ok b/c some other human told them to do it

  Tomorrow's Watchtower Study: Steve hits Selma in North America... not South America

  i started a thread a few days ago that probably went unnoticed for the most part (under "scandals & cover-ups") regarding steve hitting selma in tomorrow's wt study... i just wanted to recap it here for those who may have missed it.... the spanish version changes the story completely.... if you've read that paragraph 12 it basically says that steve hit selma as she tried to prove a point.

  selma then feels sorry for herself.. in the spanish version steve merely gets furious with her and she gets sad.. by the way, i just looked up the italian version... .
