I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?

i have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.

it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.

i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

yes it is amazing that they have been dispensing proper food at the proper time . yet no one encluding there own followers can explain any of it..

great point. The WTS prints blurbs here and there over multiple artciles and years but never puts it all in once place at one time. This creates the "I know I heard it explained before but I can't seem to rembember all the details" scenario among r&f. This contributes to the original poster's thought that this is what "they" always taught. Many J-Dubs feel this way about many things.

Cedars has it right about the F&DS. The other thing is that the great crowd are now included among the domestics. Previously the domestics = F&DS (typically those anointed not dispensing food)
Now the domestics are anointed and great crowd/other sheep obeying the F&DS (which is the GB only)

some people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.

apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.

i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

you are right about divulging too much personal information. I had done this on another forum and a JW that knew me figured out who I was!

Regarding your comments about holding personal data, I am not interested in any data about individuals here. I AM interested though if you have any data about visits from WTBTS IP addresses. Not the actual IP's, just statistics. How many hits a year/month/day/minute? do you get from WTBTS IP's?

I would love to get a glimpse of those numbers ;)

i love this topic.... stole it from a female talk radio host dr. sonia freeman in the chicago area decades ago.

think and post a creative (not damaging, violent, or illegal) action that would piss off those who shun us.

here is an example: many years ago when my hubby was still an elder he collected the mail for the kh.

i like to collect multiple DVD's and books at assemblies. they are just handing them out and I act as if "oh yeah!" and they happily hand me one. I ask for two and they of course happily give me two.

I then throw them all straight in the bin since I know my wife has already picked up copies for us anyway. Of course I never donate, havn't in years

I joyfully threw out about 20 boxes of bound volumes this year. It made me wonder how many countless trees were tossed into land fill as WT bound volumes in the past 10 years with the prolification of the CD-ROM and now the online library. Of course I also threw out several new, unopened books and DVD's as well. Heck I pitched out our 2013 calendars!

Yes I'm pathetic, but it gives me a tiny little feeling of victory.

Is it the GB's plan to NOT explain the nu FDS lite?

perhaps i am overthinking this.......but i may have come to the conclusion that the gb's refusal to address and explain in detail all of the changes mentioned at the 2012 annual meeting is in and of itself.....their final explanation.

from what i have gathered by speaking discreetly with those that are still "in" but on the fringe.......the information given at the 2012 meeting meant practically nothing to most jws.

in fact.....most are still completely unaware of the changes.

as much as I hate to admit that your speculation is correct it is unfortunately exactly correct. I am exhausted just thinking about the fact I will never be able to have an "intelligent" discussion with a JW about this since none will ever fully know what the BOrg teaches regarding it.

They will say things like: "no, that can't be right" and i will say "look it up" and then of course they won't or they will have nothing clear from which to make a conclusion and the thought will just go away.

I hate that this is going to be how the "new light" sneaks in the back door

JW's and cigars (research thread)

i feel like i have never had a satisfactory answer on this.. my experience has been that there has never been a solid stance by the wts on cigars.. i do not have the cd-rom installed right now but for a long time i could not find a definitve statement against cigar smoking.

i did find an article from a few years back that commented it gave you stained teeth and bad breath, but i can hardly see how these are df'ing offenses.

this would rule coffee for sure and a whole host of foods that do this also.. does anyone have the cd-rom installed and are able to dig up some info?

This has always been a point that I have made. I also disagree that cigars are as bad as cigarettes, this would only be true if you inhaled the cigars. Yes you will get a bit of smoke but accidentally inhaling a puff or two off one cigar a week (or month or year) is vastly different than smoking a pack a day of cigarettes. That article (and others similar I have read) are equivocating the smoke, while the smoke off both may be similar in toxicity, act of smoking cigars/cigarettes is completely different to the extent that this type of argument is invalid.

The non smoker 300lbs big mac eating, red-faced walking heart attack, is treating his "temple" with honor but i have a cigar on the golf course 4 or 5 times a year so Jehovah is going to murder me at Armageddon?

What about the guy that drinks diet cola & chews sugar free gum? So he can drink aspartame and zero calorie chemicals and that is treating his "temple" with honor?

I think if cigars are a DF'ing offense then aspartame should be a DF'ing offense and so should whoppers and big macs and fish & chips. Then lets see what all these donut-eating-big-mac-eatiing-fat-fuck elders say about having a few cigars a year.

I don't misuse it, I just smoke it. No inhaling with cigars.
