How do apocolytpic cults start?
by EntirelyPossible ini was doing some reading on jonestown recently, which led me to some reading on the branch davidians and the heaven's gate folks.. it seems to me (and this is the part i want to discuss) doomsday or apocolyptic cults all share some common characteristics:.
- secret knowledge of am impending disaster.
- their survival if they follow the messages from a higher source that their leader receives.

AWESOME!!!
they came to my door awile back, before I knew TTATT, and it was a Man with his very young son, He asked " would you like to hear my young son read a scripture from the bible'
I look down at the young boy, it angered my me, as That was once me, I said NO I wouldn't .. the young boy with his bible opened, hung his head in disappointment..
I then look at his father in disgust.. and shut the door ... I wish I knew then what I know now I would have let him have it..

Is DISMISSING others a really really BAD habit?
by Terry inif the facts are on our side we simply present those facts and allow the evidence to speak for itself.. however, if we are short on facts--what then?.
more and more i detect a trend among those who publicly disagree: they simply dismiss others without resorting to facts.. one's opponent in an opinion war is labeled as "unworthy" of being listened to.
dismissed, shunned, shut down and waved away!.

look at the gun debate... any debate = THEY ARE TAKING YOUR GUNS..
any discussion is dismissed...

Top Ten most SHOPLIFTED items?
by Terry ini realize that such stolen items would have to be in some way portable and this eliminates most large items from the list.
still, i was surprised!.
does anybody have any thoughts as to whether this list is indicative of any special need trends among humanity today?.

If Jesus had the internet back then, I'm sure
he would have used any means necessary to get out an urgent message
Agreed.. would he have used TV too... as I recall they were real sticklers about D2D being the only approved way to preach when Tv was mentioned so whats the difference
