  just a little disclaimer: english isn't my first language (i'm from france) thus the poor writing skills.here is the situation: i'm not a jw.

  however, i'm in the process of becoming one.

  in fact, i'm studying with the jw's, and i'll proceed to become an unbaptized publisher as soon as i finish the first book.to make a long story short i was introduced to the truth when i was 18een.

  Hi Esmeralda, I was a baptised Witness for 38 years before being disfellowshipped for taking a stand against a certain elder.

  What you describe is quite typical in many congregations. We call them the "Royal families" of the Watchtower. Often they are second, third or fourth generations in the 'truth'. In reality they are horrible people and will make your life hell once you are baptised. Also, you will find they are self righteous and are often driven by jealousy.

  Just be entirely certain before you commit to baptism

  On the contrary attacking anything that we currently believe to be true - and doing so with evidence - will get you nominated for a Nobel Prize.

  For some. But for many, they were treated like fools, heaven forbid even shunned by their community and never got the recognition until they died.

  Yes it did. Lots of people died of bleeding stomach ulcers without surgery.

  Well there you go. My scientific doctor said the operation caused more grief than it was worth. But hey that's science. Its like opinions, just pick your favourite one or your favorite scientist or your favorite scientific interpretation.

  No Cofty, surgery did not save lives at all. I had a good talk to my doctor later. My very scientific doctor said surgery caused considerable grief.

  Surgery for this problem proved to very unscientific, actually positively stupid.

  Anyway, I just mentioned this one thing because I'm familiar the story and they were Australians that discovered he bacteria.

  There are many, many stories of where 'science' has failed even killed those that trusted it.

  But of course we have pure science.

  for years i denied myself the thing i loved to do the most to be a good jw.

  i love to ride off-road motorcycles.

  so, i am going to indulge myself and get a new dirt bike.. i love to see god's creation from the vantage point of a motorcycle on a mountain top.

  I loved motorcycles.....I mean, I use live and dream about them 24hrs a day. Dirt bikes and road bikes. Imagined I'd be a world champion. I realized in time it could never have happened because when my brother started riding he was a real natural, hugely gifted, I was not.

  Still given my time over, I would certainly give racing a go. But then I might have died and never had sex.

  Viviane...The best science of the day and accepted around the world was to cut a portion of the stomach out for stomach ulcers...fact. Until new scientific light said otherwise. New light they resisted for many years.

  I'm just saying, science is as unreliable as any other human endeavor because humans are involved.
