"We don't run a police state.." - Geoffrey Jackson
Haha my own wife reported me to the elders when i put a £5 bet on a football match. What would you call that
a segment from the royal commission in australia where gb member geoffrey jackson is grilled by a, very fantastic, lawyer.
this should be watched by all people contemplating getting baptized as jw's.
once you're in, you cant leave and keep your family.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpir8vjsdre.

i've been 100% alone since my df last month.
i'm dead to my family now, unless i return to their cult - so i recently made contact with 3 former jw's that were in my cong when i was in my youth.
to my surprise, they all had exactly the same doubts and reasoning i had and said even though they've been out 6-7 years they "still feel tied to it in some way" and "feel guilty celebrating xmas or birthdays".
It's all very much like the book 1984 by George Orwell. Before i was "given the boot" (DF) i was talking to my mum about the changes that keep being made. She called it "new light" and proof that this is Gods organization. I said "what about the overlapping generation teaching?" she said we've always believed in the overlapping generation. She, honestly, 100% completely, could not remember believing the "generation that would not die". (She was baptized in 1976.) This is the same woman who boasts that she's never told a lie since becoming a JW.
It's scarey how an organization can have that much control that their followers will genuinely wipe their mind of old teachings and completely believe the new one to the point of death.

To my surprise, they all had exactly the same doubts and reasoning i had and said even though they've been out 6-7 years they "still feel tied to it in some way" and "feel guilty celebrating xmas or birthdays". One of them, related to me some very startling facts involving how he was treated by the elders. ALL of them had a lot of things they could have spread around, but none of them did, they just got on with their lives and wanted to be left alone (so much for leavers being malicious, lying, mentally diseased huh?).
Fortunately all 3 of them managed to fade successfully. I wasn't so lucky.
With this years convention admonishing JW members to report any inactive ones in their territory to the elders, and even to begin shunning inactive family members it gets me thinking that something has to change. We all agreed things have to if this cult is to continue. People exploiting the loop hole to fade out, young ones not getting baptized, people waking up and leaving, memorial partakers going UP not down, the GB getting pretty old now and the end still isnt here, money is as tight as Anthony Morris's boyfriends pants...
Some changes have to come in in order to maintain control surely?
i've been researching the wt and the un involvement.
when i was still in and i first seen the un letter online, my cognitive dissonance kicked and i told myself it'll be a fake.
an apostate lie.. and seeing as no jw i've spoken to has ever heard of it, and flatly deny any involvement "no, they wouldn't do that", i decided to do a little "personal study" of my own.
I am not defending the dubs, but on Reddit someone posted a link to Morris' supposed Facebook page and a post about this very subject. The post had a link to jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/watchtower where they appear to refute this. Just curious how it compares to your research (I am on my phone and it is challenging to do comparisons at the moment).
If i remember correctly, the jehovahs judgement page concluded at the bottom of the page that they did indeed sign up. I'll try and find a link to it.
I highly doubt Anthony Morris III would have a Facebook account. We were all told that social networking is very dangerous, that the WT society doesn't have one like other religions do and i've found it it's generally frowned upon by uberdubs to be on Facebook.
this is on the reddit frontpage and sounds super weird.
can it be confirmed in any way by anyone here?.

Maybe the statue and it's toes mean nothing, and the whole thing is just the ramblings of a paranoid schizophrenic who's gone bat-shit crazy coz he's been taken as a slave in Babylon?
so the elders called wanting to meet with me and my husband.
most likely because i told a concerned jw friend of mine that i really care about that i wasn't coming back and a couple of the issues i had.
i didn't bring up any so-called "apostate" information, just told her about the australian royal commission and that there are a lot of unscriptural teachings and that the gb apply scriptures that are about jehovah and jesus to themselves, which is idolatry.
Hi Sevan. Thanks for posting that. Are you gonna tell them to not bother coming for a visit?
I'm only sad about those that I care about that are still in. That I can't say a proper farewell and tell them how much I love them. It is bull that I can't show them all that I've found. They probably wouldn't be willing to listen anyway, but I should at least have the option to try to help them. Even though I know their friendship is conditional on me being a JW, as they have been trained and as I was trained for too long, I do still think they are good people and I still do love my friends in the congregation. Very sad and heartbreaking.
I know what you mean, i feel the same way. There's no way my still in family would listen to the facts and evidence we know. A switch would flick in their brain as "apostasy" and we'd be shut down. I've yet to celebrate my first birthday and im in my 30s! Im glad you had a nice day, and your step-daughter.
It's my hope that if my siblings or mother leave i'll be there for them, and when (and i mean WHEN) my little nephews/neices try to leave i'll be there for them. Not tell them what to do but just be the unconditional loving family member everyone should have.
Take care.

I used to have this image of the GB members as being humble, intelligent, bible experts. But seeing Mr Jackson on the stand here makes us all see what he is. Think of Paul, James and John who all appeared before courts and spoke with boldness. I see no similarities in this video to Paul, James or John - do you?
i would appreciate knowing from someone in the know if the goofy carts and rain covers are given to the congregation by the org.
or if the congregation has to pay the org for them.
i am sure i read that somewhere here in my lurking days, but am not finding it at present.. if the congregation is billed for it i intend to use that as a reason for my continued refusal to donate anything from now on.. thanks in advance..
I think a better reason to not donate is that the GB members fly first class on planes (with their wives) at $4,500 a ticket!!

situation is, i'll never return to the wt.
my family with never leave the wt.. depending on who you ask you'll get the following answers when you ask about me:.
my family: he's confused.
Your poor daughter is going to get enough JW nonsense from her mom. Please don't play into the WT dictates and go along with your mom's idea. If she won't see you, she shouldn't see your daughter. Period. Her loss, her choice and don't EVER let her suggest differently (and she will say so, explicitly.)
I've got a granddaughter who is 3. I would never cut off my kids and expect that I could see my granddaughter. If you live in Texas or Louisianna, come visit me (and stay along with your daughter for dinner!)

it was a mild surprise, learning that a brother and sister-in-law had began re-associating with jehovah's witnesses after at least 25 years of being away.
the couple, of hispanic ethnicity, are in their early 60's, with their five children all grown and independent.
the family had been considered nominal jws, infrequently attending meetings, rarely in field service, but using the annual convention as their family vacation.
