If only she knew. I never bothered showing her my copy because her cognitive dissonance is highly advanced. Before i discovered the elders guidebook which my father-in-law left lying around i had no idea one even existed. And what's worrying is, there's things in there that JW's dont know they can be DF for.

Does anyone know if they have a scriptural reason to keep the book a secret?

I'll leave you with another quote of my mother, but please remember she's a victim of this cult and has been since her indoctrination when she was 12 years old in a foster home because of her abusive parents: "If a Watchtower said that black is white, and white is black then i believe it. It doesn't matter what so called proof people have, if the Watchtower says its true then its true."

I dont have to tell you how very dangerous this type of thinking is. It conjures up images of Jonestown, Nazi Germany, North Korea and radical Islam.

spoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.

she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.

this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

I used to feel comfortated that Gods true organisation never asked me for money and no collections were ever taken. That all changed when, about a year or two ago, we were shown a video of a construction project here in the UK that required more donations to complete. After the talk the elder told the servants to pass each member a slip of paper with something like HOW MUCH CAN YOU GIVE? written on it. And you were supposed to hand this to your group elder once you completed it. It was suggested that everyone give about £20 each.

Any other UK members remember this?

It was the seed that grew to my awakening. I started questioning a lot of things from then on. C.T.Russell always said "We never beg, or petition for money. Yet the money finds up because it's the Lords work. If the money ever stopped, we'd take that as Gods indication that the work no longer has Gods backing".

All's i can say to that is... "no shit."

Seeing Cognitive Dissonance First Hand And The Stress It Causes

okay, so a little update on my situation.

me and my wife have spoken more about what i've been thinking lately.

although, i didn't go as far as to say that i no longer believe.

Three years later, my wife still attends all of the meetings, mans a trolley and says she's going to "wait on Jehovah". ( Wait and see attitude )

And while she waits her life is passing her by. Such a shame. Im glad i woke up from this relatively young (30). I'm also DF for apostasy, although in my JC my genuine concerns came from old publications that were "the truth" which now are not "the truth". And if we dare mention the old "truth" we're called apostates.

JW's opinions on bunker video

the so called bunker video isn't just getting attention here but among jws as well.

i've heard a fair share of cracks, some half joking half serious about the prospect of the video playing out in real life .

but something else i've heard is that the video was meant to be figurative, an illustration representing the 'interior rooms' prophecy..

It's just yet another tactic of "oh dear, the end isnt here, lets scare them some more to keep them in line".

Something's Gotta Give

i've been 100% alone since my df last month.

i'm dead to my family now, unless i return to their cult - so i recently made contact with 3 former jw's that were in my cong when i was in my youth.

to my surprise, they all had exactly the same doubts and reasoning i had and said even though they've been out 6-7 years they "still feel tied to it in some way" and "feel guilty celebrating xmas or birthdays".

It's all very much like the book 1984 by George Orwell. Before i was "given the boot" (DF) i was talking to my mum about the changes that keep being made. She called it "new light" and proof that this is Gods organization. I said "what about the overlapping generation teaching?" she said we've always believed in the overlapping generation. She, honestly, 100% completely, could not remember believing the "generation that would not die". (She was baptized in 1976.) This is the same woman who boasts that she's never told a lie since becoming a JW.

It's scarey how an organization can have that much control that their followers will genuinely wipe their mind of old teachings and completely believe the new one to the point of death.

To my surprise, they all had exactly the same doubts and reasoning i had and said even though they've been out 6-7 years they "still feel tied to it in some way" and "feel guilty celebrating xmas or birthdays". One of them, related to me some very startling facts involving how he was treated by the elders. ALL of them had a lot of things they could have spread around, but none of them did, they just got on with their lives and wanted to be left alone (so much for leavers being malicious, lying, mentally diseased huh?).

Fortunately all 3 of them managed to fade successfully. I wasn't so lucky.

With this years convention admonishing JW members to report any inactive ones in their territory to the elders, and even to begin shunning inactive family members it gets me thinking that something has to change. We all agreed things have to if this cult is to continue. People exploiting the loop hole to fade out, young ones not getting baptized, people waking up and leaving, memorial partakers going UP not down, the GB getting pretty old now and the end still isnt here, money is as tight as Anthony Morris's boyfriends pants...

Some changes have to come in in order to maintain control surely?

i've been researching the wt and the un involvement.

when i was still in and i first seen the un letter online, my cognitive dissonance kicked and i told myself it'll be a fake.

an apostate lie.. and seeing as no jw i've spoken to has ever heard of it, and flatly deny any involvement "no, they wouldn't do that", i decided to do a little "personal study" of my own.

I am not defending the dubs, but on Reddit someone posted a link to Morris' supposed Facebook page and a post about this very subject. The post had a link to jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/watchtower where they appear to refute this. Just curious how it compares to your research (I am on my phone and it is challenging to do comparisons at the moment).

If i remember correctly, the jehovahs judgement page concluded at the bottom of the page that they did indeed sign up. I'll try and find a link to it.

I highly doubt Anthony Morris III would have a Facebook account. We were all told that social networking is very dangerous, that the WT society doesn't have one like other religions do and i've found it it's generally frowned upon by uberdubs to be on Facebook.
