Even though i dont think it's the GB seeking out people to have their pics taken, what im getting at is when i was a kid nobody knew who the GB members where. Maybe some really hardcore JW elder would know some of their names, but look at it now. Everyone knows who they are, they're on your TV daily and one of them even appears prominently on the convention program.

Ask yourself... when did girls like this ever approach you and ask for a pic with you so they could share it with their friends and upload it on one of those JW Instagram pages? Are they getting pics because they're related? Because they think he's cute? Or maybe because he's a celebrity in JW land?

Only to family members when they say "aw cummon, you know it's the truth, you just dont want to take your punishment". Hit them with the A word and they literally jump out of their skin or pause for like 3 seconds and pretend you're invisible.

Never done it to any cart witnesses though. I prefer to pretend im an ex Catholic who's being shunned by my Catholic family for studying with the witnesses. They all tell me that's terrible and how their org would welcome me.

My disassociation story

following is a summary of events leading up to my decision to disassociate from jehovah's witnesses and the unforeseen results of that decision.. a young man named joel engardio produced a documentary about jehovah's witnesses called "knocking" which aired nationally on pbs.

i purchased the dvd from joel before it was even released and we exchanged emails.

joel had been raised by his jw mother and had been active in jw activities during his adolescence, but he was never baptized as a jw.

Thanks for sharing Roger. It's annoying isnt it when JWs will just do what they want anyway and make themselves out to be the "holier than thou" for doing it.

DAing or getting DF'd is not an easy situation to be in, but in my personal opinion, its better than being simply "faded" because there's closure. And active JW's know where you stand.

I've Just Noticed Something About The "Remember The Wife Of Lot" Video

maybe you guys got on to this right away, but i've just noticed something about the remember the wife of lot video.. we all know the scene where the judgmental jw dad gives that disapproving look to the girl who has lesbian parents:.

this look actually appears again throughout the video - but on other jws.

in the scene where the new brother is out in service with the former co. look at the new brothers reaction to when a "worldly" person knows the former co from work:.

I just saw highlights (thank-you) but did anyone notice that (as I saw it) Dad is only smiling when he is at the Kingdom Hall (where he appears REALLY happy)? Seems to me like a message that a CULT would want to deliver :0)

i know! If he was in my hall i'd instantly dislike him. So uptight and serious and not to be trusted with a normal conversation. Never would you open up to a guy like that about anything you're thinking about or going through.

He's a poster boy for the culty-est cult member a cult could ever cultivate!

I remember what it's like feeling the need to explain myself when I came out of a cinema. Did I go to see Lord Of The Rings (an elder in our hall named it from the platform as Satanic) or did I see Lion King 2?

Or walking through a busy street filled with nightclubs at night - oh no! There's sister snitch. So there I am explaining (in a free country) that I was only in that street because it's a shortcut to my bus stop.

(Not so) Subliminal Shave Your Beard Message

i'm in the middle of dissecting the june 2017 jw broadcasting video.. in the first minute, they summarize a story about a guy who apparently was a one-time bad ass (showed a picture of him with a beard while posing on a chopper).

then, they show him shaving at the exact same moment the narrator is saying how he regained "a clean conscience".. this no-beard obsession by the jws is beyond nuts.. .

Crazy isnt it? There's strong hinting in all of their videos where they show people converting. Even in the Remember The Wife Of Lot video, the young latino man is seen shaving when he accepts "the truth".

Ready to rat him out to the elders for having "worldly" association. Oh, but it's ok... he knew him from when he was his boss. That's ok then.

When this brother was studying with the dad character, the dad character gives him the same suspicious look when he meets a "worldly" person who knows him:

I have a hunch that this is just one way of normalizing the idea that we should all be on the lookout on our fellow JWs. Ready to interfere and report them to the JW police.

In hindsight, I feel bad for the sister though. She needed immediate and intense mental health care, and no one stepped up to help her get that (although at least the elders told her to take her meds, which was surprising).

I've said for years (even when i was in) this religion attracts mentally ill people. And DFing her is rather strong, that's not what she needed. Mental health care from a professional - yes, cut off from any JW friends/family - no.

There was a mentally ill old lady in my last hall. She was DF before i even moved there and she used to turn up to the meeting with a child's toy pram with a black bin bag full of "stuff" in it. She's sit in the back room during the meeting and take things out of it and try to give them out as gifts. She's now re-instated, still completely mental but now the congregation cant just pretend she's invisible.

I stopped believing in the supernatural after reading Derren Brown's Tricks Of The Mind. There's always an explanation for this sort of thing and people jump to bizarre conclusions like ghosts, demons or boogymen.
