Hi guys. Thanks for taking part in the previous poll i did about disfellowshipping.
I've created a survey here: https://goo.gl/AtcM22
And the results will be published here: https://goo.gl/qZQzjD
I'm using these to get accurate stats for my studies regarding cults and assisting those who leave.
There's only about 20 questions. Your time is appreciated.

Jehovah's people are not happy people
by Phoebe ini finally stopped attending the meetings about 4 months go.
i won't be going back - ever.. but i've decided the best reply to the watchtower is to be happy and i do try to be happy every day even thought i wasted my entire life on this religion.
i cherish every day, practice mindfulness and do my best to be content with the life i have.. it is only now that i see that most jws i know are deeply unhappy people.

I know at least 10 people from my last congregation that are on medication for depression. My ex-mother in law is one of them. She's the most miserable, depressed and stressed person i've ever known. My ex-wife is depressed and always focuses on the negative. Even when we were together she attempted suicide 3 times.
My mother is on anti depressants too.
And think about it, when we were JWs, what was there to live for? What was there to enjoy? Fake "fellowship" with fakes "friends"? 90% of the time i was never included in social gatherings like you see in the Watchtower magazines. Reason being i wasnt single. The single brothers would arrange get-togethers at their houses, invite the single sisters, who'd turn up with their female friends, and of course you HAVE TO invite the cliques from the hall. So there's me sat at home week after week, month after month, year after year wasting my youth.
Fortunately now im out i get to use my outgoing nature to meet new people. People who know me say i "work the room" meaning i go around the venue like a host and introduce myself and know everyone's name by the end of the night.

A Poll Regarding Shunning
by pale.emperor ini've created a poll here: https://goo.gl/7xburo.
i'd be interested in seeing the results.. .

Since starting this poll i realized something, i said NO because my family are adults. I dont class my infant neices and nephew as shunning me because they dont know any better.
If my children were shunning me and then stopped i'd accept them back.

If they stopped the monthly report card ?
by Chook inwitnessing would cease, would it flow on to attendance numbers at meetings and then total decimation of the church..

Ministry would all be cease to exist. Only the elders and their families would turn up. It's one of their ways of making sure people actually do go out.

The Irony of 2017's RC "Don't Give Up" Theme
by steve2 inif the end is oh-so-very-near why the exhortation rammed home during the convention to "don't give up.
if humankind is poised right on the knife edge of the end, the sense of urgency in the organization would be breathtakingly palpable.
urgency?

Remember the conventions where you'd MAYBE get a new publication and everyone would be over the moon about it? I remember when When Someone You Love Dies was released and everyone thought it was just the best thing a grieving householder would love to get their hands on.
Then it was a new publication every convention.
Then a new publication every day of the convention. Where it stopped being so wonderful and you'd start thinking "oh man, i've gotta carry ANOTHER load of books back to my hotel?". Eventually you'd just send someone from your family to get 7 of them in one go for the whole family. My mum would get some for her non JW family member who more than likely just threw them in the trash.
Now? Downloads.

Cart Witnesses Today - I am not impressed
by pale.emperor injust approached a cart then with two jw girls holding out mags.
they continued chatting to each other about car insurance when i took the watchtower from one of their hands.. ok, so it looks like i'll have to get the ball rolling.
i asked if they were jehovahs witness.

Can someone confirm if they have been given a directive to NOT engage in debates? Because they all seem to be avoiding conversation and directing us to their webshite. This is a complete 180 turn on what we were all directed to do when we were in.
Hell, i remember when the internet was to be avoided. My parents only got the internet in 2005 and even then they asked an elder if it was ok first.

How to convince someone to leave.
by Smiruk inhey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.
i'm currently in a jehovah's witnesses household, which is very deep into the "truth".
i woke up a few months ago, and i haven't told my parents yet.

My advice is take advantage of the fact that your family hold THE BIBLE in high regard. Id say "I read Galatians 1:8 and want to use only the bible to direct my life. Paul didn't teach many of the things Watchtower teaches."

Not for me. Even if my family stopped shunning me, they've made it very clear "im choosing to stay loyal to Jehovah". So any so-called love they have for me isn't even real love. They're not worthy of my time. And anyway, it was always me looking after them. I got nothing in return off them.
If they're so convinced from "scripture" that shunning is what Paul was referring to in 1 Corinthians then any "new light" shouldn't matter to them. They claim they got it from scripture, not men.
As chook says "fuck 'em".

When do you think the 7 clowns will add more members to the exclusive GB club ?
by Chook inwill they draw a new name out of a hat or do a kiss test i don't know..

I think they'll only pick the most hardcore member with cult leader potential.
