I can say a similar thing about my former religion:
"I believed in Watchtower because of my theocratic education. Everybody did. It was something I never doubted; it was taught as a scientific fact."
so i found another piece in the no 4.
2017 awake attacking evolution.
wow two attacks in the same article!anyway richardson is a physician the jws are cherry picking to support the idea even intelligent people can think evolution is nonsense.

i was born in 1984 so was only 9yo in 1995. i read on various posts on here and on other websites about false expectations about 1975 and 1995. i'm aware of the 1975 failure but what was said in 1995?.
Thanks guys. I wanted to get a clear understanding from those who actually remembered it. I'd like to say that if i were my 32yo self back in 1995 that i'd wake up and leave but probably not. When they brought in the overlapping generation teaching only a few years ago, i remember reading it in the Watchtower, i remember sitting i the KH studying it but not even noticing what it was they were saying. It was a major teaching that no one in the KH was even paying attention to. It's seems we all just go to the KH on Sunday because that's what we do. And we study this magazine because that's what we've always done.
our enthusiasm for truth is not shared with our former brothers.
they base their whole lives on a historical book yet won't look back 50 years to see origins of cult..
When i was in i was 100% convinced id be sent to prison one day for my faith. The great tribulation and all that. I actually looked forward to it. A chance to prove to Jehovah and everyone else how strong my faith was.
However... my child being born really made me re-think a lot of things. I remember thinking there was no way i'd refuse her a blood transfusion if thats what doctors said she needed. Nor would i let her be taken off me during "the great tribulation" like the Nazi's did with witnesses. Made me see that i actually loved someone more than Jehovah. That was a real wake up for me. 2 years later i start lurking on here.
hi guys.
thanks for taking part in the previous poll i did about disfellowshipping.. i've created a survey here: https://goo.gl/atcm22.
and the results will be published here: https://goo.gl/qzqzjd.
How come my score was a 0 ?
What am I missing here ?
The 0 thing was because i was going to add another question but didnt and they wouldnt let me delete the box. Ignore it.

I'm using these to get accurate stats for my studies regarding cults and assisting those who leave.
There's only about 20 questions. Your time is appreciated.
i finally stopped attending the meetings about 4 months go.
i won't be going back - ever.. but i've decided the best reply to the watchtower is to be happy and i do try to be happy every day even thought i wasted my entire life on this religion.
i cherish every day, practice mindfulness and do my best to be content with the life i have.. it is only now that i see that most jws i know are deeply unhappy people.
I know at least 10 people from my last congregation that are on medication for depression. My ex-mother in law is one of them. She's the most miserable, depressed and stressed person i've ever known. My ex-wife is depressed and always focuses on the negative. Even when we were together she attempted suicide 3 times.
My mother is on anti depressants too.
And think about it, when we were JWs, what was there to live for? What was there to enjoy? Fake "fellowship" with fakes "friends"? 90% of the time i was never included in social gatherings like you see in the Watchtower magazines. Reason being i wasnt single. The single brothers would arrange get-togethers at their houses, invite the single sisters, who'd turn up with their female friends, and of course you HAVE TO invite the cliques from the hall. So there's me sat at home week after week, month after month, year after year wasting my youth.
Fortunately now im out i get to use my outgoing nature to meet new people. People who know me say i "work the room" meaning i go around the venue like a host and introduce myself and know everyone's name by the end of the night.
i've created a poll here: https://goo.gl/7xburo.
i'd be interested in seeing the results.. .
#qp_main1119848 .qp_btna:hover input {background:#00355f!important} #qp_all1119848 {max-width:815px; margin:0 auto;}if watchtower scrapped the shunning policy due to "new light" and your family suddenly agreed to speak to you again would you accept them back?.
Since starting this poll i realized something, i said NO because my family are adults. I dont class my infant neices and nephew as shunning me because they dont know any better.
If my children were shunning me and then stopped i'd accept them back.
witnessing would cease, would it flow on to attendance numbers at meetings and then total decimation of the church..
Ministry would all be cease to exist. Only the elders and their families would turn up. It's one of their ways of making sure people actually do go out.
