  J.W`s Taking the Oath To Tell The Truth on The Bible / Affirmation

  how outdated is the compulsion of people before the law courts of the land to take an oath on the bible to /swear on the bible to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me god.or its equivalent affirmation.?.

  and even if you do claim to believe in god but feel giving information to those who don`t deserve it then withholding such information is justified as theocratic warfare deliberately misleading those seeking such information.. if you don`t believe in a god ,you can lie all you like .. and in the case of geoffrey jackson at the a.r.c.

  into institutions of child sexual abuse ,he had no problem misleading ,another word for lying to the a.r.c.

  I remember about a year ago I was having a solicitor countersign a legal document and she said I'd need to swear some sort of oath on my "holy book". I chose the Quran. She obviously knew I wasnt Muslim and likely saw that it was all bollocks having to do it in the first place. Then I had to put my hand on it and read aloud from a piece of paper which said "I swear on <holy book name> that the statement I present is factual and true".

  Of course I may have well have made an oath on the Chronicles Of Narnia for all it meant to me.

  seriously, i welcome you.. i was explaining to one of my friends recently about how the watchtower society uses it's members to make them money every day without them even realizing it.

  Maybe they will go into the digital Tablet selling business.

  I remember when JWBroadcasting came out and entire congregations were flocking to buy a Roku on which to watch it on. My mum was very smug and proud that she was one of the first in her congregation to have one. I believe the elders wives and her all went out together to get one. It was like a sign that you were oh so more spiritual than everyone else because you were watching Stephen fucking Lett in HD with his stupid eyebrows shooting up and down.
  

  So Roku can thank the Watchtower society for the surge in sales when the channel was rolled out.

  
  

  All it would take is for Watchtower to team up with Samsung or Apple and say that this is their approved device and they'd all buy them.

  they've been flip flopping regarding this, stating that it is paul talking about himself to paul talking about the congregation and back again to paul talking about himself.it appears that three years ago david splane gave a talk during the convention explaining their latest ideas and it has taken all this time for it to get into print.

  In 2 Corinthians Paul the Apostle writes, "I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. And I know that such a person—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows—was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat."[6] According to E. W. Bullinger, the Greek says "caught away", not "caught up" possibly reflecting Jewish beliefs that Paradise was somewhere other than the uppermost heaven.[7]

  Ideas about the system of "heavens" held by Jews and Christians in first-century communities are also evident in the non-canonical Second Book of Enoch (see previous section).

  New Testament apocrypha

  According to the Apocalypse of James,[8] John the Baptist dwells in the Third Heaven.

  It seems Paul was familiar with, and believed in, the apocryphal book of Enoch. The idea of heaven and paradise being the same thing makes much more sense to me without Watchtower goggles on. According to Islam, each level of heaven is made of different things, the third heaven being made of pearl.

  ...they would go direct to the Seventh Heaven where they would have a permanent erection and be serviced by 72 young girls (and boys) who's virginity would be miraculously restored every day.

  Bumped Into One Of My Best Friends On The Carts This Morning

  so this morning i'm walking to my office and there's the jws on their carts outside as usual.

  and old sister, a brother in his 20s and an elder i instantly recognized from my jw days.

  one of my best friends of about 20 years.. i genuinely just wanted to say hi as i havent seen him in 3 years.

  I keep replaying the scene in my mind. His knee-jerk reaction to seeing me was between fear and hate. But then I know that's how they've been conditioned to feel about ex-members. That we "know it's the truth" but we're "bitter" or "hateful" to JWs. This was a very rare occasion where I genuinely wasn't going to talk about religion to a JW. I really was just glad to see him again.

  I keep thinking of what I should have said and what I'd liked to have said. But I'll know for next time that no matter how close we were to a JW, even if we we're related - they just dont want to know.

  Very sad indeed.

  And lets not forget PART 2 of the scam. "Lovingly cancelling all loans" that the congregations had with Bethel, but making them still pay the same amount as a "donation" each month indefinitely.

  And those that didnt have a loan with Bethel were given slips to hand around asking how much they can give each month as a family.

  Even the Mormons have the balls to at least call it a tithe.
