Over the past few days my feelings about all this have changed. I'm seeing more and more of what people have been saying about him. As my first comment in this thread stated, I dont have an issue with sex work or sex workers (there's a whole growing debate about freedom of women to do this safely if they wish to etc but that's for another thread perhaps) and I dont care about his personal life. My issue now is his complete lack of acceptance, personal responsibility and - dare I say - empathy for his wife and kids.

- I’m briefly breaking my social media hiatus to say a few things that some may need to hear:
  
  Not gonna copy the whole thing, obviously, but a few points that jump to me are:
  
  Not once in that statement has he expressed remorse to his wife and kids.
  Not once in that statement has he expressed remorse for misappropriation of funds.
  He's running a poll about whether to keep his video up but says he can veto it anyway (whats the point?). Does it bring in more donations or what?
  
  Look, I dont judge anyone for sleeping with whoever and I make sure I dont weigh in on other people's relationship issues. Non of my business.However, this bit:
  
  (5) I would like to reiterate that as a professional activist I get to spend my wages as I please. My patrons know that I churn considerable money into my channel. It is due to their generous support that I have been able to hire a video editor, build a studio, travel to investigate stories and invest in the best equipment. I simply shouldn’t be asked to account for how I spend my personal funds. If that had ever been the case, I would never have used Patreon to begin with.
  
  The issue here is the money he's spending on prostitutes comes from his Patreon donors. Money which they were told was to make his videos and travel to do interviews and research. If it wasn't his sole income I could give him a bit of leeway. Guys working in garages, offices and bricklayers are free to spend their hard earned money how they please, sure. They get paid to lay bricks, fix cars and file papers. And yes, some will spend it on prozzys. Their wages, their choice. It would be very different if the brick layer took money from his employer to buy cement and spent in on a hooker though wouldn't it? In fact, it would get him sacked. And that, as far as I'm concerned is whats happened here.
  
  The only decent thing he can do about this is step down. Get off YouTube and Twitter. Dissappear. It's time for someone else to take the reign. And lets hope for a consortium under one YouTube channel rather than one person. Any spending of donations should be made public on a website.

Yh that was a head-scratcher for me. If he's adamant that its no ones business why make a YouTube video about it at all?It was like watching the Prince Andrew interview - cringe!!

In other words, why spend a fortune going to Thailand unless you are looking for a specific type of prostitute.
Well, yeah, Thai prozzies obviously.
All we know is he likes going with prostitutes and he blames this on his upbringing (which I think is a stretch). Let's not revert to JW mode and start making stuff up from there.

Yh as much as I dont care about what he does in his private life (he's just a guy who provides insight about the org as far as I'm concerned), blaming any and all personal traits on the org is a stretch.
If you like banging different women just say you do. Don't pathologise it.

I'm sure some do claim it's their choice, like JW kids saying they really don't want Birthdays and Christmas, but I believe they are atypical and I don't care much for claims otherwise.

I disagree. People are not doing that as a greta career choice. It's because they have been mistreated or abused and people have taken advantage of them.
The real-world isn't like a "Pretty Woman" movie.
Not all prostitutes are forced into it. Some indeed go into it willingly and even plan it out for a set term. I know several personally.

Nothing wrong with seeing prostitutes if that's your thing. Non of our business either. Now, if they're minors (which is a very serious accusation) you need to provide evidence. Otherwise its just another crazy apostate ranting online. And we're trying to move away from that image JWs have of us.
