aaaaaaaaand we're one step closer to Scientology.
I swear the GB are looking at other cults and taking notes.
i’ve been hearing from several very reliable sources that there will be an exclusive elite gala entertainment event hosted by the watch tower organization, featuring specially chosen jehovah’s witnesses of outstanding talent as well as spiritual reputation, at the sony centre (formerly called the o’keefe centre) in toronto, ontario (canada) as a special “after hours” addition to the 2017 special international convention.. those chosen have to meet very strict criteria, including, not so much technical and popular talents, but, rather, their spiritual maturity which can be easily and practically related to by the audience (i.e., degree of conformity – you know what i mean!).
a notable and very well-known professional “super star” from some other country (i don’t know which one) who has achieved highly recognized and popular talent was surprisingly not chosen to participate in the extra entertainment program, whereas other performers with rather ho-hum musical abilities ended up being selected, ostensibly for their altruistic and “theocratic” qualities.
(something tells me that there is going to be some jealousy and indignant, hard feelings over this rather authoritarian, arbitrary selection process.

so i've been thinking a lot about why i stayed a jw for so long even though i had always had doubts about the doctrines.
i was born into the religion, left and came back as an adult for another decade.
some of the things that come to mind (besides the threat of shunning-and this isn't to minimize that very real threat) was:.
I bet you can all relate to my reasoning:
Even if it's isn't the truth isn't it a lovely, safe place to be?
If I leave, I lose my entire family. I'll just stay and make a go of it.
Sure, the org has made mistakes - but god uses imperfect people.
Of course, all this reasoning is just delaying the inevitable. You either become depressed and stay in or you leave and live your life on your terms to the full. Sure, I've got no family now apart from my little girl and zero friends but I'm thousands times happier.
just curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.
The Pale Emperor is twofold... it's an album by Marilyn Manson, my favourite actually. I got into Marilyn Manson around the same time I started to notice the bullshit in the religion I was involved in.
Secondly, Roman Emperor Constantius Chlorus was the first emperor to openly declare that there are no gods. He was known as The Pale Emperor due to his complexion.
elders ,co ,do ,branch overseers ,gb ,missionaries has "sinful" lust got the better of them..
Wasn't there a gay member of the GB back in the Ray Franz days that "stepped down" when a boy reported him?
according to the uk charity commission, my old kingdom hall is hemorrhaging money and less is coming in.
long may it continue.. any ideas what a crappy, run down, shack of a kh spends £49,472.87 on in three years?
they were praying for a new hall for about 10 years until bethel basically stole it off them to build warwick.. .
If the city of Liverpool were a human body, Speke would be considered the anus. The funny thing is, 5 of the elders actually all live in the same street in a lovely area in Widnes. They hate having to come to a slum of a KH when there's Widnes congregation just down the road from them. But, alas, with no young brothers reaching out they have to import elders.

This crappy shack of a hall has had a new lick of paint every couple of months. There's no air con and no windows. In the hot summer we resort to opening the fire doors at the side of the platform. In the winter we resort to bringing portable radiators from our homes to put around the KH. I dont know what Health & Safety would say about that.
I may just write to the charity commission. Even if it's just to stir the pot.
Am i correct in my understanding that each congregation is set up as it's own charity? If that's the case, is Watchtower legally allowed to request money to be sent to them from these KHs?
so he tries to prove that we are living in the last days without any evidence, but instead a series of unsubstantiated assertions ("never has there been a time with so much lack love and affection").
and uses things that are not even part of the so-called "sign" (abortions, pollution).
then proceeds to ridicule the "ridiculers," stereotype them, and declare they are only fit for destruction!.
Have you ever seen 19th century (or earlier) dental tools? Any dental problems and your choices were sheer bloody torture or dental rot and eating mush the rest of your life.
And lets not forget what would happen if your appendix burst in the 1920s. If you're lucky you might get to a hospital within 30min and operated on and maybe survive. Today, it's keyhole surgery and you go home the next day.
i think the swamp would empty overnight .
The question is, how many are fully aware it's not the truth but are staying because they have to? Those figures in the yearbook of Jehovah's Witness numbers around the world are meaningless when you take into account that there is at least 1 apostate in my old hall. When i was there i was awake for two years before leaving. How many more of us are there stuck in those halls?
i won't name the youtube channels yet but i noticed something while listening to them.
both channels were christian in there title both had a married couple that had both woke up and left.
both first started waking by up when the man out in service came a cross a wonderful christian family and they explained their lives followers of christ and doing missionary work etc.. both couples wanted to pray for or with the jws at their door but it didn't happen.
I think i know which one you're referring to. I found it boring, dragged out and something did seem odd about it.

I've said many times, if they offered this AT LEAST half would walk out. Take a look at your last KH. There's always a divide of the elders families and their cliques, and everybody else. The everybody else are the ones who'd just love to leave but cant.
Even the believers could say "we worship Jehovah at home". Many in my family say "Jehovah is perfect, it's his people that are wrong. Jehovah will sort it out". That right there tells me they have little faith in the GB but just tow the line.
