Excellent news. Jehovah sure is becoming more and more incompetent isn't he?
It'll be a WallMart by Christmas. Watch this space.
there are several confirmed announcements in some congregations around the city regarding the sale of the assembly kingdom hall.
one of the reasons why it will be sold is that expenses are not covered by donations.
the hall was dedicated in 2009. actually, in some congregations the elders have not given the announcement for the publisher's reaction... .

on video "benefits of divine education" william samuelsson makes totally appalling comment.. starting from 3:05 he refers to "an effort" that was made in past to see how society's curriculum corresponds with normal - worldly - universities.. then he claims that following question was asked (to university representative) "how we in five months can teach the same that for them takes two years"?.
according to w samuelsson the representative of a university replied something like this: "your students are motivated, they have come to learn where as our students have been send to university by their parents and might have something else than learning in their mind".
this is to crystallize what he said.
The university representative`s statement was more than likely taken out of context and mis-quoted as is WT`s normal practice .
That is if the conversation really ever took place in the first place
Agreed. Any educational video or textbook worth its salt cites its sources. Even Ray Franz did (a lot) in Crises Of Conscience. And THAT'S what assured me that i wasn't reading "apostate driven lies".
i hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.
it's truly bizarre!!.
clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.
Some quotes from my Uber-JW mum:
"If the Watchtower says the sky is green then it is green, and our eyes must be wrong."
"It doesn't matter what "the facts" show, Jehovah is never wrong".
When i was trying to get into University after i left school: "What would you want an education for in this system?"
When an alcoholic elder beat up his wife and his wife left him. He wasn't removed and only 6 months later was on the platform at the circuit assembly as an example of devotion: "Jehovah chose him himself to be an elder, so there must be more to the story than what we know."
So you can see why growing up in that house was toxic. Internet was not allowed in her house until JW.borg came along, suddenly it was the most amazing educational tool from Jehovah.
i am sure we have all thought of this before, but it struck me again today:.
why does the society promote such vitriolic hate toward, and about those who have left "the truth" ?.
surely it is obvious that such critical attitudes towards ones like us who have left, only serves to proove that they do not have "the truth"?.
It's the sign of a true narcissist to paint others in a bad light for simply not agreeing with them AND not allow you to speak to them "just accept our word for it, they're bad". Even when i was "in" i thought it bad that we cant speak to non JWs. I mean, didnt Jesus speak to tax collectors, sinners and Samaritans?
An ex elder i wrote about on here months ago who woken up and left is being shunned by his whole family. He's an ex Bethelite, same age as me, was well "loved" in the congregation. Funny thing is, he still believes in YHWH, still goes to a church, still lives the same clean lifestyle and does a lot for children's charities - yet he's worthy of being shunned because he left the JWs. My own sister spreads stories about him which are exaggerated and half truths.
Im just thankful i woke up, and that you all did too. More will wake up throughout our lifetimes, it'll be interesting to see who. It's never the ones you think.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
If Watchtower is to be believed, people only go to University to have sex and make a lots of money upon graduating. Heaven forbid someone would become a Doctor because they actually want to save lives!
no doubt this point has been made before but i see no harm in emphasising it.
my family heard on the grapevine that "the society" had people who used to animate for disney.
well , if that is true , it certainly shows.
I'd like to see a Watchtower CGI animation of more bible stories. The bible is "without error" after all and "beneficial for teaching...". Wonder when they're gonna show the CGI of Lot banging his own daughters, Jehovah burying people alive in the wilderness (we seen the Moses vs Korah drama of that, but they didnt show the women and children victims), or how about the good old family favorite of that Levite who bought himself a sex-slave in Bethlehem. After she was gangraped he chopped her up and sent her parts to various parts of the country. (Judges 19)
what simple pleasures do you enjoy since leaving watchtower?
here's some of mine, in no particular order:.
a cigar: i dont smoke cigarettes at all, but i do enjoy a good cigar from time to time.
What Simple Pleasures Do You Enjoy Since Leaving Watchtower? Here's some of mine, in no particular order:
A cigar: I dont smoke cigarettes at all, but i do enjoy a good cigar from time to time. Only when the occasion calls for it like a celebration or if im feeling particularly good. Hamlet is my favorite brand, i don't see the fascination with Cubans.
Taking a girl out without planning our wedding or discussing eachothers theocratic goals or if we're going to have kids one day.
Lying in on Sunday mornings. After a year this still hasn't gotten old!
A good swear. I don't swear in front of kids, but i do think a good swearword is warranted in certain situations. Sometimes a sentence packs more punch with an F or an S in there.
Watching films with a sex scene without freaking out and changing the channel. (Hey Watchtower, did you ever think that maybe that scene isnt a big deal and there's a reason they put it there? (Unless of course it's a French film, in which case it's just there for no reason)).
Speaking to strangers. Im like an addict. I speak to everyone, from the people in the checkout que, to people in bookstores and the Starbucks barrista. Everyone knows Pale.Emperor :)
How about you?
this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.
Initially it was the girls parents that uploaded the vid, they thought it was "encouraging". They removed it soon though when the response wasn't as well received as they thought. Fortunately myself and JW Survey had snatched it before they deleted it.
Imagine this girl getting DFd next week. The emotional toil that would have on her - at 10yrs old - of every JW shunning her AND her parents still not allowing her to have non JW friends.
Her support system is gone.
Her still developing personality and life references are now damaged.
Her childhood ruined.
i have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.
and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.
all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.
Youngest I've heard of was 6yo. Heard it on JW Bored-casting. Steven Lett was wetting his pants telling us.
i always found it uncomfortable to informal witness to people but trying to convince a jw to jump ship brings much more pleasure..
My ex-family and other disgruntled JWs use it as an attempt to shame me, but I correct them with:
"Actually, im a heretic. Even if God does exist I think he's a genocidal, mass murdering, slavery condoning c*nt."
They don't came back for seconds.
