Let's talk about Blood again....
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all talked about this topic before, but for some new ones on the forum, or to refresh ourselves, i wanted to start this thread.. the society likes to go on about the sacredness of blood, and how it should not be transfused etc.. they liken it to a symbol of life itself.
something that should be respected and therefore not transfused.. but, what is more important: real life, or a symbol of life?.
an illustration came to mind.. if we give a bunch of flowers to a loved one as a symbol of our love for them, are those flowers more important than the love itself?

Are they still married? I wonder if he attended her JC so he could "build her back up spiritually"
Last i heard they were still married. She left him a few times but always went back to him.

Understand im not bashing the concept of having a care home solely for JWs. I can understand from when i was an indoctrinated JW that the more uber JW folks would like to live in a little commune with only JWs.
But my concern is, and was even back then, that if a resident or staff member is disfellowshipped would they be "advised" to leave? If i were sacked for being DF'd, or victimized for it i'd take them to court on unfair dismissal charges.
Of course, if i do manage to reach the age of 70+ and suffering from a debilitating condition i intend to live out my twilight years high as a kite.

They have care homes in England and Wales: Wigan, Leyland, Blackpool, Methyr. And one in Canada http://www.jah-jireh.on.ca/
These are not funded or subsidized by Watchtower. They were started by individual JWs who wanted their old folks in a JW only care home. One member of my family worked in the Wigan one and i know of many JWs who have worked for Jah Jireh. It's one of those places where you're guaranteed a job simply for being a JW. They do a criminal background check on applicants as required by law but no skills, experience or personality is deemed important when they hire people.
I've met Jah Jireh staff many times and there a lot of misfits working there. I heard the same reports from different people who either work there or used to. That they're underpaid, overworked, cut corners and dont treat the staff very well. For all that the residents of Jah Jireh seemed well cared for. But i cant help wondering what would happen if a resident was disfellowshipped. Can they (or would they) turn out a paying resident? Would that even be legal?

The guy in prison is a real nut case. Even back then we were told not to go near him. He had about 8 or 9 kids that were ALWAYS taken off him and his wife by social services. But they just kept having babies. He was a violent bully and most likely a psychopath. He broke his own babys jaw. One of his kids he locked in a wardrobe and fed her nettles. Seriously a F-d up individual. His wife never did divorce him, most likely was beating her up too.

Question...
by ironsnake656 inwhen you were an active member in the jwland, did you expect to receive any kind of help from a brother/sister, but they did not help you?
when i was in the jwland, i expected and was my belief that any brother/sister will help you in time of need, distress or trouble, because we were part of a "lovely organization".
but countless of times when i needed and asked for help, nobody from the org helped me.

My dad was used and abused for his skills constantly. He was a carpenter and came from a long line of carpenters (he was very good at it too). He was always doing work for free for elders, CO's, Kingdom Halls around the city, repairs at assembleys etc. He'd provide the materials and tools and labor for free.
He genuinely loved helping the brothers and sisters but knew the ones "higher up" in the clique were taking advantage. I remember very clearly him taking me along to an old sisters house. She was in hospital and my mum had keys to her house to look after her cat and water the plants etc. My dad and his mate (also a carpenter) fitted her a new kitchen FOR FREE. She wasn't very well off but really appreciated it and got him a card with some money in it.... which my dad then put in the contribution box.
I was always being asked for immigration advice. Even by JWs i didn't know. People would pass my number around and i'd get random calls from foreign JWs in the circuit.

Love the way you reason Chook. Im aware that Oz has VAST amounts of empty space to get from territory to territory. Are they really gonna travel that far just to get you?

"When you stop knocking? I've lived here 14 months and i've not had you knock once. I didnt even get a memorial invitation last year."
