Not at the KH, but here in England at least we have another little eulogy at the crematorium where anyone who wants to can get up and speak.

Eulogies
by redundantcartworker ini recently attended a non jw funeral at a local church.
during the service, a couple of friends/relatives of the deceased eloquently spoke for a few minutes about the deceased with some of their fond memories and gave heartfelt, respectful tributes.. would i ( a non jw) be given a few minutes to speak at either of my jw parents funerals at the kingdom hall ?.
i guess i already know the answer, but if the answer is "no", then why not and how would they hide the heartlessness of refusing ?

New here...
by Jacobi inmy name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.
i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.
because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.

Welcome friend. Yes we're a mix of different political opinions, some theists, some atheists yet we manage to all get along (most of the time)

The book burning has started
by pale.emperor indon't know if this is a global thing but i've just been told by a pimo member of my old congregation that a min servant has been given the task of destroying all old books/literature in the kh library prior to 1992.. could be the elders (or even one of them) on a mission to stamp out dissent as my ex-wife used the same reasoning to her elder dad that i used in my jc: rutherfords books containing failed predictions.. anyone else heared anything?.
the ms who's been given the task is a company man.
no hope of him keeping them or selling them on ebay.. they have some russell books in that library too.

PE, is this occurring only in that particular cong or is this happening in other congs in the area?
I dont know, that's why im asking. Usually wifibandit posts the elders letters and i've not seen an elders letter regarding this yet.
This year already there's been 3 (that i know of) in my circuit that's left after reading old publications.

“I don’t try to cash in on my talents or attempt to climb the corporate ladder. Instead, I’m investing time and energy in spiritual goals.”
Imagine a world if everyone thought like that.
Imagine if these people "didn't try to cash in on their talents": Mozart, The Beatles, Picasso, Freddy Mercury, Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Spielberg, Bruce Lee, Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, Roy Lichtenstein, Steve Jobs...
It'd be a very dull world indeed.

Have you ever gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.

I'll never set foot in a KH ever again. Even when I was a JW I hated going the KH.
Curiosity my ass, the meeting will still be boring no matter how many videos they show. I'd rather go to work on a Sunday morning for free - no exaggeration.

Using Watchtowers Own Reasoning Against Them RE: The Governing Body
by pale.emperor insomething occurred to me today.
quite randomly as i was working away at my desk i remembered an illustration from the bible teach book in which satan claimed he knew better than jehovah about ruling mankind.
here's the illustration from chapter 11 of that book:.

Based on this Watchtower analogy, Jehovah should have told Satan that if he could do a better job to do so. Jehovah should have created a parallel universe, transported Satan to it, and told him to run it for a few thousand years. At the end of that time they could compare results. Everyone liking the prime universe gets to stay and everyone liking Satanville gets transported over there.
Now that sounds like a God i could understand. You should start your own religion.

ALDI have accomplished the same thing here in Liverpool. There's ALDI supermarkets popping up all over the place. Is Jehovah blessing them too?
Surely this is evidence of our creator, the great and powerful German discount supermarket chain accomplishing fantastic things in these last days.

Something occurred to me today. Quite randomly as i was working away at my desk i remembered an illustration from the Bible Teach book in which Satan claimed he knew better than Jehovah about ruling mankind. Here's the illustration from Chapter 11 of that book:
12 Let us consider an illustration. Imagine that a teacher is telling his students how to solve a difficult problem. A clever but rebellious student claims that the teacher’s way of solving the problem is wrong. Implying that the teacher is not capable, this rebel insists that he knows a much better way to solve the problem. Some students think that he is right, and they also become rebellious. What should the teacher do? If he throws the rebels out of the class, what will be the effect on the other students? Will they not believe that their fellow student and those who joined him are right? All the other students in the class might lose respect for the teacher, thinking that he is afraid of being proved wrong. But suppose that the teacher allows the rebel to show the class how he would solve the problem.
13 Jehovah has done something similar to what the teacher does. Remember that the rebels in Eden were not the only ones involved. Millions of angels were watching. (Job 38:7; Daniel 7:10) How Jehovah handled the rebellion would greatly affect all those angels and eventually all intelligent creation. So, what has Jehovah done? He has allowed Satan to show how he would rule mankind. God has also allowed humans to govern themselves under Satan’s guidance.
14 The teacher in our illustration knows that the rebel and the students on his side are wrong. But he also knows that allowing them the opportunity to try to prove their point will benefit the whole class. When the rebels fail, all honest students will see that the teacher is the only one qualified to lead the class. They will understand why the teacher thereafter removes any rebels from the class. Similarly, Jehovah knows that all honesthearted humans and angels will benefit from seeing that Satan and his fellow rebels have failed and that humans cannot govern themselves. Like Jeremiah of old, they will learn this vital truth: “I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23.
Now lets try this in reverse. Suppose the Governing Body come out with some new
shitelight. Brother Jones doesn't agree with the new light and claims he knows better. What would the Governing Body do? Would they, like the wise teacher in this illustration, imitate Jehovah and allow Brother Jones to get up in front of the class and explain why? Or would they dismiss him from the class and tell the other students not to listen to him? What would you think of a teacher that did that? Even the Governing Body claim that for Jehovah to do this would cast doubt on his wisdom and make it look like he doesn't really know what he's doing. And yet it's exactly what the GB do.
